Welcome[edit]

Welcome message from HughCharlesParker

A list of examples removed from RBT(for future reference).

Okay, I have some news. Some people take chatrooms WAY too seriously. Take this, for example: big, bad vandal. Come on, now. Getting angry over chat is one thing, but vandalizing a Wikipedia article? The topper to all of this is the "crime" I committed: roleplaying as the "room bartender" when he "clearly has it in his profile that he is the bartender". Get a life, dude. Me? A no life faggot?[edit]

Did you find out who wrote it?

Thanks! Now I feel famous! (And I get an extra thirty points for wikipediholism. Yay!)

I can't believe this: he changed his block template to include homosexuality.

Apology[edit]

Sorry for saying you were acting in bad faith, I was getting frustrated and I guess I lost my temper, I will try to be more civil in future. We will have to agree to disagree about the notability of bongs, joints... and spots. I concede that the original article was rubbish but I intend on improving it as much as possible so that, hopefully, it can stand alone.

Sock/Meat[edit]

I am not the user you speak of, but I am friends in RL with that user, that's how the article being up for deletion came to my attention in the first place. Dirtyfilthy (talk) 23:31, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I refute the accusation of meatpuppetry, as a NZ habitual smoker of marijuana I am genuinely passionate about this topic and am honestly acting in good faith to improve the quality of the article as much as possible, not just voting "Keep" on the deletion page. I have spent a significant amount of time attempting to find references and trying to clean up the article. I am not acting as a "proxy editor" for this user. Friends often share common interests. Dirtyfilthy (talk) 00:15, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess that by the strict definition of the term I am indeed a meatpuppet, though I think the word is unfairly applied if you have a genuine interest in improving article content rather than just attempting to influence the consensus. Nonetheless, I do not know any nor am I friends with any other users voting "keep", aside from the user previously mentioned. I do not find it at all surprising that many NZs want to keep this article around. - Dirtyfilthy (talk) 00:48, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Civility warning[edit]

Yeah, no problems, I pretty much expected to come back and see a warning. heh... I won't make a habit out of it, don't worry. --Jaysweet (talk) 12:39, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

redirects from userspace into mainspace[edit]

Hello - you need to fix a redirect you have from User:Wakandas black panther/sandbox to Category:Skateboarding companies. That page has been added to the category, and it's not a category intended for user pages.

If you want the page deleted, add {{db-author}} and it will be gone shortly. If not, and you want to keep that link in your sandbox, you can add a colon in front of 'Category', like I did in the first sentence of this message, which will take the page out of the category while preserving the link. Thanks. KrakatoaKatie 04:19, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GuilePro[edit]

Hi , If you could add that stuff to Game wiki for me and paste it back on my page so I can forward it on to friends that would be awesome. SORRY for being an egg. THanks man GuilePro (talk) 01:10, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adding video or media to a Wikipedia page[edit]

HeadWatersTrails Inc shot documentary video on the Shiawassee River between Holly and Flint to show the DNR, EPA and DEQ how the river has been maintained. It shows the riverbanks rich in fish habitat along with numerous trees/shrubs reinforcing the banks from erosion.

I am unable to add the video I shot while kayaking and canoeing the river.

Is this because I am using Google and YouTube as links OR BECAUSE I didn't upload it directly from my computer to the Wikipedia site ?

As username Willi_H2O I started the Shiawassee River Wikipedia site a few years ago. Now I am unable to add any media of any kind to the site to show people the beautiful resource that exists in Northern Oakland County ?

Prod/AfD[edit]

I've removed my prod, we may as well let the AfD go ahead. Best, --Bfigura (talk) 01:45, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've tagged Connor Kiley for deletion as this article has absolutely no content. Why did you create it and put a prod on it? Cunard (talk) 05:40, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Closing an AfD[edit]

I saw your comments asking for how to close an AfD. You can find the directions here. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 02:26, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

request for copy of deleted article[edit]

i am writing to request a copy of the deleted article "Tracy Cloherty". I consulted with user Gwen_Gale, who suggested the subject is notable enough for the article to be recreated.

Agarwood article[edit]

Hello, you made some changes to the Agarwood article. Unfortunately, you made changes to a somewhat-vandalized vanity version of the article where some guy kept leaving his cell phone number and putting pics of himself, rather than the other version. I am talking about Hafizmuar's edits, and he is the guy on the pictures called Professor Sulaiman Bin Doss Mohamed. Check out this version of his page, it even has his contact info, for a laugh: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Agarwood&oldid=222659417

Anyway, I reverted to my copyedited previous version, removing your changes and his revert. I will re-read your copy and try to incorporate your changes as well. Sorry about that, this guy's constant reverts with no regard for legit edits by others make it hard to work on that article.

Althena (talk) 16:56, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Careful if you add to User talk:Hafizmuar's talk page[edit]

Hello there, thanks for reverting Agarwood again, and very quickly too! I'm watching it carefully as well!

I was gonna tell you to watch out because he's blanking out his page but silly me didn't notice that you were aware of it already.

Anyway, I actually restored his blanked page with the other warnings, since he broke them after blanking his page. I included your last warning with them.

CSD - Alex Maine[edit]

Was just looking over the current CSD and saw you tried to explain such to the indignant author on the talk page there. I added a few lines to point out that the newspaper he quoted from was a free local advertiser and so isn't going to cut it (and that quoting is not the same as citing). Anyway, I thought I might respectfully suggest that the example of Sam Walton isn't going to mean anything at all to a Brit (that he was is obvious from the article) - the vast majority of us here haven't even heard of Walmart itself! Not that it makes any difference in this instance but I thought maybe I'd mention it...hope thats ok! All the best Plutonium27 (talk) 04:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I reckon I could have been more constructive above - I'd say that Richard Branson would be a good SW equiv for our unlucky WalMartless populace.... Anyway, FWIW Akex Maine's 'National Variety Performance' was nothing more than giving a miniscule small-town event a similar name to the 'Royal Variety Performance, I guess in the hope that that some may not realise the difference....indeed, this budding entrepreneur will surely go far on such originality, only I'd have thought he'd see to it that his agent/media officer/PR/kid brother didspel stuff teh on paige write ;) Plutonium27 (talk) 04:58, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DMEM[edit]

I am a new user and wanted to ask why my page was deleted, since a similar page is present on the German wiki page for months? Thanks for the help, ddorn_1999 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddorn 1999 (talkcontribs) 20:49, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

---Shiawassee River--- My Name is W i l l i - G u t m a n n and I'm part of the reason the Shiawassee River is now widely recognized in Michigan and elsewhere thru the internet media. HeadWatersTrails Inc personnel like myself cleaned 7 miles of the river making it navigable. The group heavily promotes the river, gets national magazines like "Outdoor Life" and national outfitters like "REI" and "MOOSEJAW" to sponsor our efforts, and gets 100's of paddlers on the river to explore nature, etc. ALL video links I posted were personally shot by me with my Waterproof Pentax Optio and edited by me.

    • How pompous and presumptious Wakandas_black_panther is to claim I am spamming anything or breaking copyrights somehow

breaking the rules of YouTube or Google** It's all my personal work and the work of HeadWatersTrails Inc. The blog http://shiawassee-river.blogspot.com/ is my creation and work. Hi, and thanks for your message. I'm rather positive that I saw Billy Mays scream at me through the television that it would take 300,000 bowls of my regular breakfast cereal to equal the fiber in just one bowl of Colon Blow. All the best!--Sand Squid (talk) 22:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hypocrisy[edit]

Your opinion on the deletion of the totally unreferenced and poorly-constructed wiki article on the New Testament church totally exposes the real intentions behind your crazy vendetta against the Spots (cannabis) page... not that anyone really thought you were serious that an article with over 15 references supporting it (with one from a Government-run Police website no less!) was somehow not notable.

Actually its quite nice to see that wikipedia's processes DO work. Your non-notable article was deleted while the thoroughly-referenced article on an activity practiced by thousands around the globe is retained. -- Ars666 (talk) 09:46, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Wundarr the Aquarian.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wundarr the Aquarian.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:15, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
