Bold usage[edit]

Hello. Before you go too much further on The 36 tattvas. we don't use bold font like that. Most of where you are using bold should be italics. It's in the Manual of Style somewhere, though I couldn't point you directly to it. IPSOS (talk) 14:06, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding citations[edit]

Namaste. I was pleased to see that you have shown interest in Trika and Kashmir Shaivism. Your attention to WP:CITE is appreciated. I have a concern over your addition of material by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami as a WP:RS. That particular teacher has come up before on other others, and use of him as a WP:RS has been rejected on some articles due to the fact that his works themselves generally lack any sort of reliable sourcing, and he has been associated with certain WP:FRINGE notions. I request that you being replacing any citation to him with something that would be more reliable. Also, when you give references, can you please include page numbers? Mentioning a book without giving a page number makes it difficult to verify the citations. I hope you will take these suggestions in a postive light, as it is always good to have more editors around. Kaula[edit]

That's great. Some minor formatting points you'll want to consider.

  1. We don't use bold text like that. Typically only the first instance of the title subject is bolded. THe other places where you've used bold should be italics.
  2. In headings, only the first word and proper nouns are capitalized
  3. Punctuation goes before the ref tag, and there should be no space before the ref tag either, whether or not it is preceded by punctuation.

As for the content, it looks great! Looks like you've done pretty much what I intended to do slowly in place in the article as I had time... Kudos! IPSOS (talk) 12:52, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kaula comment[edit]

Added comments on talk page. I have updated the rating to B due to exhaustive nature of content. At times, it becomes too abstract for non-experts like me, unaware of detailed terms of Saivism. IMO, the Shaktism article tries to explain terms in simpler words. Please go through it. The abstractness of the article with no WP:OBVIOUS meaning at places, can be an obstacle in further elevation to GA and FA(some day) in rating of the aricle.--Redtigerxyz 07:14, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I studied Sanskrit at school and coll levels. We had books prescribed by the university. So really dont know what books or sites etc. (you can get in Romania) can you refer to , to learn Sanskrit.---- Redtigerxyz (talk) 16:56, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would prefer the conversation be on the talk itself. Regarding the img at Abhinavagupta, just change the tag to {{fair use}}, instead of {{PD}}. I will give more suggestions on Abhinavagupta. Also you are most welcome to expand Matrikas and Shaktism and you need no one's permission. If there are any issues about your edits, they would be reverted (worst case) or discussed on the talk.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 13:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also since you are interested in Shaivism, you might help in forming a referenced section titled "Worship and festivals" in Shiva like FA Ganesha. I am currently working on it too. I wish to write about worship of Shiva: Lingam worship, Maha shivratri and temples as whole - Jyotirlinga in particular and texts imp in Shiva worship. Also a short para about the cult of Shiva, Shaivism. Please suggest more things that should be written about in the Shiva article, to make complete in all aspect. --Redtigerxyz (talk) 13:08, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I was recently contacted by an editor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kashmiri) who contested my changes. My contention being that the word krama was being incorrectly hyperlinked by wikipedia if the same can not be attributed to a human error. Surely the Cambodian garment has no correlation with the krama school? I doubled checked the citation to read through Theodor Aufrectus Catalogus Catalogarum and Lillian Silburn le systéme krama. Edits[edit]

Thanks for your recent note about my edit to your Abhinavagupta page. My apology for not informing you as I am still relatively new to wikipedia and am not really that familiar with all of the rules and formatting procedures. Your page is very informative, and though my time is limited I will add any suggestions here in the future. George(talk) 09:09 17 Feb '08. (UTC)

kaula[edit]

Thanks for contacting me, and sorry you had not approved the edits before. The article will be further improved by use of scholarly sources, especially historical and with "all India" approach. A while ago I received the following - you might contact Vritti. Please leave any detailed comments on the Kaula talk page. Thanks. Redheylin (talk) 21:54, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

I just noticed your nice work on the Kaula article. Thanks for steering it away from the Kashmir Shaivism perspective, which is actually a different thing and different word. Good work. -Vritti (talk) 03:34, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Atheism[edit]

On the website Digg the most hateful comments toward religion get the highest amount of diggs. The actual quotes don't seem to blast religious people all that much, just corrupt organized religion (which in no way I argue that it isn't)

But people of any faith are just being trashed completely and made to look like back water hicks. Anyways thank you for taking the time to properly give context to the quotes and smashing the ones that are outright hateful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.85.50.11 (talk) 16:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Your edits on Kashmir Shaivism are quite admirable. I see that you are also interested in consciousness studies. I would be interested in a personal correspondence with you in relation to mantrashAstra and hallucinogenics. How can I contact you? Akshay.peshwe (talk) 12:02, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi visarga. Very pleased by your edits in here. I am also interested in having some acquaintance with you over some emails. Could you please let me know how I can contact you personally or otherwise just contact me at [email protected]?

Trident Yantra Parama Shiva[edit]

Dear Visarga,

Thank you for all your hard work on KS. The world needs more KS. I would like to know where you obtained the yantra of Parama Shiva? What is the source of the drawing? A scripture? In other words, how can it be authenticated as coming from the tradition? Also, could you please be kind enough to post an explanation of the yantra, it's origin, and what the different parts signify?

Thanks!

Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted[edit]

I invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon, 1-3 June. Registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in the registration form.

This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.

We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!

I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out the the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC and our other events.

Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 02:55, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of The 36 tattvas[edit]

The article The 36 tattvas has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is not a notable topic; it is and always has been a weird specialist page that is not Wiki appropriate, as Wikipedia is not a religious instructional manual.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
