Hi there and a BIG thankyou for the uinformation about Juan Martin/John Martin/John Newman - the whole thuing is infuriating, he even denies his english birth etc via e-mail - i contacted flamenco vision [his website] and whoever replied said to suggest he wasnt spanish was spurious and rumour! Very very bizarre stuff indeed.

Glad you backed me up with that info though - thanks!

Perhaps you could get it verfied!

Thanks again

Juan Martin[edit]

I have seen your edit, and yes, it should probably be deleted, as it is unsourced. I cannot bear to delete it myself though, as I happen to know you are absolutely right. I met our common friend in the mid 1980s, when I was living in the Portobello area, and he was a regular act in one of our locals. I am Spanish, and there was a large Spanish community in that part of London. We were all quite amused, even endeared, to see this 100% British guy trying to pass for a Spaniard. When we'd approach him pint in hand at the interval, he would mumble some words in his broken Spanish, begging us not to uncover him, as he made a living out of it. I do respect people who pursue a passion with such intensity that they get to the point of altering their very identity. Anyway, your edit is not visible, as you wrote it within the info box, just so you know. Megustalastrufas (talk) 15:54, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
