Hi, thanks for for your contributions to the Russia project. Can you put your Russia-related contributions: new articles or major revisions of the existent ones - into Portal:Russia/New article announcements, so your contributions would be read by the other participants of the project. Also if you see a new or newly rewritten article that is not the list, please add it too.

I am trying to look through the list of the new articles for the Russian-related ones, but it like 2..3 thousand articles daily and I can easily loose an important article. There is no way to catch all the major revisions of Russia-related articles, unless the authors will report them themselves.

Also you might be interested in adding to your watch-list Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board and Portal:Russia texts.

All the best and thanks for the great work. abakharev 02:43, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dear colleague, there is no need to announce every edit you make on the new articles notice board. There is another board for notices of this sort. Cheers, Ghirlandajo 08:37, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also, may I ask you not to start Alexander Tairov, Alice Koonen, Kamerny Theatre, Nonna Mordyukova, Lyudmila Gurchenko, and Malyi Theatre? These articles have long been on my to-do list, so I plan to write them myself. Thanks, Ghirlandajo 09:21, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Double cats[edit]

Hi colleague. I've noticed your addition of Category:Russian writers to an article that is already listed in Category:Russian novelists. May I ask you to please undo it: the cat. novelists is already included in cat. writers. Cheers. Humus sapiens←ну? 19:25, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Two portraits per article?[edit]

Dear Vald, let me thank you for the nice pictures you added. While I think your intentions are laudable, what's the point of adding new portraits to the likes of Alexander Blok or Mikhail Lermontov, which had three images already. It's not from laziness that I didn't add more pictures when I wrote those articles, I just thought three were enough. Perhaps it's better idea to upload new copyfree images to the WikiCommons, where they can be used for articles in other languages and whence we could retrieve them when needed. Keep up the good work, Ghirlandajo 23:46, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:100px-Avvakum_protopop_ikona.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:100px-Avvakum_protopop_ikona.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. --OrphanBot 06:06, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I need to ask you about Image:Aleksandrov Aleksandr Vasilyevich.jpg. I understand that it was taken from Russian Wikipedia, but what is it's copyright status? I cannot read the text at ru:Изображение:Aleksandrov Aleksandr 3.jpg, so I can't tell whether it's public domain or not. Is it? Your question[edit]

Hello, I don't think the term exists in English, as it smacks of original research. It is a matter of point of view to decide whether a government works "for people" or "against them". Actually, every government serves the interests of only a fraction of the total population. You could translate the term as Totalitarian government or just "unpopular administration", depending on the context. --Ghirla -трёп- 08:21, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

East View[edit]

Hi there. Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article East View, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the relevant issues at Talk:East View. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Re:Translations[edit]

Hi! I am sorry for delay in responding. Thank you for help though!

this is the text in Russian:

Максимальная концентрация в плазме крови при приеме в дозе 50 мг достигается через 1 ч, в дозе 100 мг – через 1,5 ч. Метаболизируется в печени. Период полувыведения равен 17-21 ч. Около 40% выводится в неизмененном виде, в основном с желчью (38.9%) и в незначительном количестве почками (0.12%). В течение первых суток выводится 90% от введенной дозы.

The text is about Arbidol, an anti-viral drug that is taken orally (to fight flu). The part about 40 % something, I understand words themselves, but when they are in such a context I don't get it. I don't understand what is in unchanged form - the drug after it was digested or....? This is what I understood from the first two sentences (correct if I am mistaking).

Orally administrated dose of 50 mg reaches its maximum concentration in the blood within ~ 1h, and the dose of 100 mg reaches its maximum concentration withing 1.5 h. It is metabolized in the liver. The period of half-life is equal to 17-21 h.

Thank you very much again!

Unspecified source for Image:180px-Pokryschkin.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:180px-Pokryschkin.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lupo 13:37, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mihalkov-sergey-vladimirovich.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Notability of Towiki[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Towiki, by Agamemnon2 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Towiki is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Towiki, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 10:57, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Bill D'Elia[edit]

A tag has been placed on Bill D'Elia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Tiptoety 06:21, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:180px-Yuly-Kim-2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:180px-Yuly-Kim-2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. AfD nomination of Vladimir Narbut[edit]

An editor has nominated Vladimir Narbut, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vladimir Narbut and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:44, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Benchmark-driven investment strategy, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://wiki-pedia.pl/en/wiki/LDI.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Proposed deletion of Maximum authorised mass[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Maximum authorised mass, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello Vald! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

File permission problem with File:180px-Karen Horney.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:180px-Karen Horney.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for File:GeorgiDanelia1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GeorgiDanelia1.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:27, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Alexander Dvorkin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

nothing notable

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Scott Mac 21:20, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. I have recently expanded the article Alexander Gradsky which you orignally created, and I've nominated it for Did You Know?. If you have time, I would appreciate it if you could have a look at the current version of the article and see if there's anything you think needs further improvement. In particular, I would be grateful if you could take a look at the transaltions in the Discography section, because I confess I have been relying mostly on Google Translate, and I think some input from someone who speaks Russian and English could be beneficial. There is one title which Google translates as "Antiperestroechny Blues". As far as I'm aware, "antiperestroechny" isn't a word in English. Can you help with this? Is it related to the word perestroika? Contains Mild Peril (talk) 21:03, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:180px-Konstantin-Romanov.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Thanks for uploading File:A-N-Kolmogorov3.jpg.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

A tag has been placed on Americans for a Safe Israel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your contributed article, Usability Principles[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Usability Principles. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Usability. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Usability – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. NeemNarduni2 (talk) 11:32, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from 2010 Flash Crash to Navinder Singh Sarao (I have removed your addition, since the subject is not notable enough for a stand-alone article). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. If you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 01:21, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

David Amos moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, David Amos, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:30, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Vald. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, Draft:David Amos.

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it. — JJMC89(T·C) 04:46, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
