Don't be discouraged that your initial edit was rejected. I have no doubt that your reasoning is sound. The way Wikipedia works is that (especially for high profile articles) we provide references for the various facts in our articles. It'll take awhile for you to learn how we do things, but that's OK. Once I looked at the history, I found you were attempting to reference an edit from a user with an IP Address.
