email?[edit]

Здраствуй, «твй дрг»! (And I don't remember a whole lot more Russian than that from my high school days over 50 years ago, so please don't answer me in Russian.) I got your notification saying that you had sent me an email, but I don't know how to find it. So would you please just post it here or put it on my talk page?--Thnidu (talk) 17:16, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Thnidu: Greetings. I want to find one thing out, but I couldn't find anything about it. That is why I wrote to you, and I found your account on the history page of WP:FOOTNOTES. So there are notes that are used along with references to sources in the Wiki, and notes ref groups are usually called "nb" (like here for instance). And I wanted to ask if you know what does the "nb" abbreviation stand for. Ur frnd (talk) 17:38, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd: Sure! "Nb", or more formally "n.b.", stands for the Latin phrase nota bene, which means "note well": in other words, "pay attention to this".--Thnidu (talk) 23:10, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Thnidu: Thanks a lot for your answer! Hope I didn't disturb you too much with my question. --Ur frnd (talk) 04:01, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd: Don't worry about it. Wikipedia is for sharing accurate information. That's why we edit it and write for it.--Thnidu (talk) 04:23, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

Hello! Strange request here, but an article about me and my Wikipedia work has been promoted to Good article status at English Wikipedia. I'm curious if you have any interest in translating the entry for Russian Wikipedia? Figured I'd ask since your profile suggests you do translation work. Either way, happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:28, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: hello! I think I'd translate it. The only thing I find strange is creating an article on request of the person who's its subject. Need to figure it out a little bit. Besides, congratulations on having a GA about you! And lastly, the article contains two years as a supposed birth year, is it possible to specify it? Ur frnd (talk) 07:21, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply (and for the congrats!) -- I'm still surprised to have a Wikipedia entry about me, let alone a GA. There has been some discussion about my birth date on the article's talk page, but there are no sources verifying which year I was born, hence the date range. This happens often which is why Wikipedia has Template:Birth based on age as of date. Thanks again for your interest and willingness to help. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:19, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Another Believer: I just feel like there's nothing wrong with specifying the year, as the age is already properly sourced (and the info would be correct). But if we want to go this far with adhering the verifyability policies, it probably makes sense too. --Ur frnd (talk) 14:47, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'd prefer to stick to details confirmed in appropriate sources. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:05, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Another Believer: Hi Jason! (hope you don't mind being addressed by your first name) After reconsidering translating the article, I found muself dubious as to whether its subject is notable or not, particularly in application to Russian Wikipedia. The article uses RS, some of the newspapers being based in Portland (which is your preferred topic according to the article). I couldn't find any mentions of your work in the Russian-language media which, being no barrier to create this article, shows that the article's topic is likely to be of little interest among the readers of the translated article. Your work is notable for (at least) English Wikipedia, but having a decent article about you and your work here seems to be quite enough: if a person is interested in reading about notable EnWiki editors, they are likely to speak English and thus be able to read about them here. Given the above, the translation possibly meets the ВП:КЗП requirements (analog of WP:NBIO), but I'm not a fan of controversial cases (a Wikipedia article covering work on Wikipedia is inherently special). This is why I'd rather postpone the work on this article until someone clearly analyzes its notability with respect to the RuWiki rules or creates the article themselves. I hope you can understand my line of thinking. --Ur frnd (talk) 21:01, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all! I appreciate your reply and consideration. Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:12, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Undid revision 1181999882[edit]

Hello! I am just reaching out to let you know that I undid your revision adding the perpetrator's name, as consensus has not yet been established for it's inclusion. @Scaledish, hello and thank you for your notification here! I have also received an automatical one and admit that the discussion should be finished first. I should have checked the discussion first but acted a bit hastily. --Ur frnd (talk) 14:47, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

Hello there! In July to October of last year, after very extensive research, I wrote an articles:World Constitutional Convention. I'm curious if you would be interested in translating it for the Russian Wikipedia? I thought of reaching out to you since your profile indicates that you do translation work. Thank you! --BeLucky (talk) 10:49, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BeLucky: Hi! Thanks for reaching out to me. I like the topic and the article, will try to translate it very soon. Since it is rather large, it might take time, perhaps months, but I hope my fellow Russian Wikipedians will pay attention to this work as well. Please accept my sincere appreciation for your hard work and please write more if you have time and willingness. Ur frnd (talk) 11:55, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd No problem if it takes time. Just start with a stub, and others might join. Thanks for undertaking the translation; I will try to keep up with the global peace-related articles. I really appreciate your efforts. --BeLucky (talk) 12:08, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BeLucky: Well, I have started the translation here: Всемирный конституционный конгресс. Surprisingly, there is a lack of information about the convention when I just google it. Seems like it has not received much media attention since the internet became what it is, though you are surely more aware, just sharing thoughts. Ur frnd (talk) 18:45, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd Yes, it's an article about past events of 1968 & 1977 and in today's world of internet no more talking about it. You will be surprised to see how little media talks about Albert Einstein and him organizing Peoples' World Convention (PWC) in 1950. --BeLucky (talk) 18:55, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd Thanks for starting the translation. --BeLucky (talk) 18:56, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BeLucky: I think in this sentence: "Einstein and ECAS assisted UEF in fundraising and provided supporting material." UEF is a typo? Ur frnd (talk) 15:09, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd Fixed. Thanks for pointing. --BeLucky (talk) 15:48, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BeLucky: Hi, I've got a couple of questions regarding the ECWT's decree. Firstly, based on the given sources I believe only one was issued and not several of them. Secondly, after reading the text of the decree I feel that its aim was to outlaw weapons of mass destruction while the points given in the article are the goals of the council itself ("we have organized into...", "our purposes are..."). If I'm right, we could correct the section. Ur frnd (talk) 16:16, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd There were 4 main Decrees on every day of the meeting from December 28, 1971, to December 31, 1972 and last 2 days there were others, as I read in details. Sources are only highlighting 1st one. And I also didn't put too much details to keep things sort. --BeLucky (talk) 16:37, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BeLucky: Perhaps adding some source listing them is possible? Ur frnd (talk) 16:39, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd Here: https://issuu.com/mtechlibrary/docs/amp_v.17__no.6 It says 1st decree issued on 29th Dec and rest on other days. --BeLucky (talk) 16:42, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd Just added cited it in article few mins ago. --BeLucky (talk) 16:43, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ur frnd I've noticed that you've finished translating the article. Thank you very much for your hard work and dedication. Your efforts are truly appreciated. Thanks again! --BeLucky (talk) 06:12, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BeLucky Hey, thanks a lot for your message! I appreciate your efforts for this article, keep it up! P.S. Perhaps it could be a GA nominee --Ur frnd (talk) 11:54, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
