Your opinion?[edit]

Dear Tnds

I understand that you are a resident of the people's republic of China. I was curious if you could give me your opinions on the censorship that goes on in China. You can remain anonymous, if you wish, but I would appreciate it if you could render any assistance to what is happening in China, by explaining your views to me.

Thank you for your time. Scalene 08:13, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beijing Paralympics[edit]

Hi. I just wanted to thank you for contributing to the article on the 2008 Summer Paralympics. I've done a few stubs on nations at the Paralympics, but there aren't many people interested in the Paralympic Games, unfortunately. So thank you for your contribution! The necessity of listing the Transfer Stations[edit]

I noticed that you had added a list of subway stations with transfers to one or more lines, and I reordered the list in alphabetical order to make it more presentable. Even so, I wonder whether the list of such stations is useful to readers in the first place. We have striven to keep the article concise (under 30K in length) but also informative. The article already makes clear that transfers exist in the Beijing Subway and are free to riders (except the Airport Line). The map already clearly shows the transfer points. The table of currently operational lines lists each line's interconnections with other lines. The article for the Shanghai Subway does have such a list of transfer stations, but articles for the New York, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Moscow, Madrid, Washington, D.C., Boston, Tokyo, Seoul Subways do not have such a list. I have nominated Category:Summer Paralympics (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for merging into Category:Summer Paralympic Games (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. — jwillbur 20:36, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling and grammar in Paralympic sport pages[edit]

I notice that there are quite a number of errors in the English of the Rowing at the 2008 Summer Paralympics page which you introduced, both in spelling and grammar, and there seem to be similar errors in your pages for other sports. I know that other editors are able to correct the pages, but I would advise that you check the English more carefully before introducing new pages. David Biddulph (talk) 21:19, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be specific, your Paralympics template has: "There's 10 medals in this sports" - this should be "there are 10 medals [avaliable] in this sport". "There will be 20 athletes (10 female, 10 male) take part in this sports" - this should be "there will be 20 athletes (10 female, 10 male) taking part in this sport." Alternatively, "20 athletes (10 female, 10 male) will take part in this sport" is also correct.

"Sports" is a plural, e.g. tennis is a sport; football, rugby and judo are sports.

"There's" is short for "there is". "Is" is used in the singular. "There are" is used for plurals. There is no such contraction "there're", except in very informal language (so definitely not an encycopedia).

As to "taking part" and tenses: "I took part yesterday", "I take part today" and "I will take part tomorrow" are correct. So are "I am taking part today", "I will be taking part tomorrow" and "I was taking part yesterday".

I do not mean to be ungrateful or patronising - thank you for making a good start to many of the Olympic articles! Good luck with your English, you're doing well. I hope this helps. GM Pink Elephant (talk) 10:07, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:2008 Summer Paralympic Mascot.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2008 Summer Paralympic Mascot.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:64TeamBracket-with-3rd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:47, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Tnds. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
