on tetris ds[edit]

had good reason to take those images off. those images manifested on the net before even nintendo gave word about the release. earlier in the year, thq started developing a tetris ds, but this project got scrapped. since ign took these images from another source, and that source put out those pictures before even nintendo announced the game, these images may very well have come from the scrapped game, or maybe even made up. 72.150.0.183 23:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the game thq made did get cancelled. eb games listed it some time ago, but not anymore. nintendo decided to make another tetris ds, though. see here 72.150.0.183 21:06, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your moving of WikiProject UW[edit]

You moved the WikiProject on user warnings this morning, but it seems you didn't check to make sure it went well. I spent the last hour moving pages, updating links, and deleting redirects to fix all the redlinks the move engendered. No doubt you meant well, and the standardised capitalisation is indeed an improvement, but I suggest you pay a little more attention to the results of your actions henceforth. :) // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 15:36, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I am the creator of that image. That is a personal photo I took of Michael Jackson during his concert at Ericson Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. That photo was taken in about November of 1996. I can't remember the exact date. Street walker 11:32, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:4_Poofs_and_a_Piano.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

SVGs in Notepad[edit]

The SVG file format is available from the official World Wide Web Consortium website. See [1]. I simply wrote the files based on that specification, much as one would write a HTML markup file (or for that matter Wiki-markup) based on those specifications. My experience as a programmer did come in handy here since it's fairly easy for me to learn a new "language". If you're less experienced with coding and markup, I'd recommend trying Inkscape, which is a free program that allows you to draw SVGs much as you would draw images in a paint program like Adobe Photoshop. If you'd like to look at a simple SVG created in Notepad, open up Image:Three Triangles.svg. It is relatively short and simple and might help give you a feel for the markup. Re: Blocking of 61.69.165.181[edit]

It's no big deal. I'm a bit curious to see why you blocked the address for 15 minutes, saying it was an AOL address - to my knowledge it wasn't. Oh and also, the shorter block always overrides the longer one, so to extend a block you have to unblock the address first, then reblock, which I have now done :) FireFoxT • 11:36, 26 February 2006

Huh? I am lost on this one. Do you want to say that I put a speedy tag on it and it got deleted and then re-created? If that's the case I really don't remember. I am not an admin and I cannot check deleted content. But most likely it had something to do about "unreleased" and notability. Trully, don't remember. pagemove...[edit]

See history. I moved the edits at the copy-paste title back to the agreed title to keep the history intact and in one place, then revert back to whichever version (at either title) was most recent. Dealing with copy-paste moves, I do this task quite often. — Mar. 6, '06 [13:28] <freakofnurxture|talk>

Well, it is a bit confusing in that it's unclear which title each individual edit originally existed at, but in the case copy-paste moves, or duplicate articles (which are essentially created by the former) it shouldn't matter. The other big thing is for the redirect left pointing at the article, if it gets deleted, or maybe converted into a new article which gets moved to yet a third title (hypothetically speaking) the authorship of the original article becomes even harder to track down (GFDL stuff, you know...), basically all I did was move the 5 edits at the "wrong title" on top of the 620 edits at the "right title" causing those to be temporarily deleted. Then I promptly restored the 620 underneath the 5 and they all get integrated in chronological order. Then I look through the history and find the most recent version that (a) doesn't consist of a redirect and (b) doesn't have my name on it, and revert to it. Simple once you get the hang of it... — Mar. 6, '06 [13:38] <freakofnurxture|talk>

Ulster Project[edit]

Hi...You placed a 'clean-up' tab onto a page I recently created called the Ulster Project. As I am new to wikipedia, I thought maybe you could put some information either on my talk page or on the article's talk page so that I can improve the article to a status which would not require the clean-up tab. You wrote "needs some sorting" and I'm afraid I just don't understand. Thanks.--PaddyM 23:11, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kaz Hirai[edit]

I have a question for you, although I have a hunch as to what the answer is. Computerdefinitions uploaded this image into the Kaz Hirai article. It was a good picture, yes, but then OrphanBot deleted it, citing lack of sources. So I did some digging, and discovered that Computerdefinitions had poached it from Sony's website. Article up for deletion[edit]

Ok, well basically, any account that is thought to have been created or used solely for the purposes of voting in an AfD is normally discounted from the final outcome of the AfD, although it's up to the closing admin who they count and who they don't. As for the actual article, it's a tricky one. I don't normally vote in AfD's, but I would think the article in question is borderline between keep and delete. I wouldn't be surprised if the closing admin closed as no concensus (=keep), but we'll have to see. FireFoxT [11:18, 11 April 2006]

Things to consider when creating SmackDown! Vs. Raw 07[edit]

I'm a huge fan of the sd vs. raw games and...i'll get right to the point...here's what to consider when making sd vs. raw 2007:

longer seasons: The last game was great but a HUGE thing i love about the seasons (which obviously hasn't had a lot of focus on) is MORE CHOICES i can't stress that enough, it grinds my gears when the superstar in the season just chooses a path for you and you only get like 2 or 3 big decisions on what YOU do in your season mode, when the game chooses what you do FOR you, it's really not YOUR season now is it? no..it's not...huge choices that are jaw-dropping exciting, more personal multiple choices regarding which way your storyline goes would be great!...AND most importantly...FOR THE LOVE OF GOD...PLEASE...BRING BACK 2 PLAYER SEASON MODES!!!!!!!! (like in smackdown 2 know your role)

a better G.M. mode: Don't get me wrong, i love the G.M. mode, and i'm very thankful they even considered puting it in the previous game (SD vs. Raw 2006) but there wasn't enough excitement, i bet it's almost impossible to include this AND season mode, but i expected (at first when i first heard about g.m. mode) that it was gonna be just like season mode but you acting as eric bischoff just as your created superstar...with not just menu things, actual cut scenes like in the season modes, but i guess that's too much to ask, just something I personally think would be a great addition to g.m. mode and make it a lot better

more backstage action: umm...not much to explain about this...the heading basically says it all...just more things to be whipped into, more places to go like the "parking lot, locker room, boiler room, just like...mix ALL the smackdown games for ps2's backstage places and put em all in this game if possible, like...think about it, like in sd 4 there was like downstairs, on teh streets, in the parking lot, in the boiler room, just like EVERYTHING you could ask for, and i'm just really excited for what they have to offer, just thought i'd point some new things out for more options for backstage brawls and stuff like that

a place for "real name" "birthday" and "more hometown choices":

a real name space in create a superstar would be great...not that it really matters, but under teh "popular call names" you could have a superstar name that is like "the crusher" and have a real name like "ryan davidson" and then the superstars in season mode would call you ryan, or something like that. And the birthday thing, you should have an age and a birthdate space, so something special or cool or awesome or creative could happen in the season mode on your birthday...and same deal with the hometown choices, like...i'm from vancouver B.C, and they only give you "calgary, and toronto" for hometown options...that's it, and same deal with birthday, something cool should happen when you're the hometown hero

and just some little things that aren't needed to explain: -obviously keeping voice overs -more things backstage to whip opponent into when playing a hardcore match - more voice-over choices for CAWs (create a wrestler)- - a longer better season that doesn't get old and boring in like 2 days

conclusion: all in all this game is expected to be great not including the things i've said up there, just something to consider to make it a better game, and same thing about sd vs. raw 06...it was good but it could always be better, i just thought i'd say a few things on how i can put my opinion in there to make it better!

Just a thought, certainly I will honor your request if you'd prefer sooner (though note being on the list does not open you to any stability issues if you choose not to d/l the program). Thanks again, - Glen 12:26, 9 August 2006 (UTC) PS: If you do get a chance to post your experience/thoughts on the bugs page that would be helpful for future releases too. :)[reply]

Not Understanding[edit]

I don't know what you mean Thorpe. Are you just picking on me because you heard I was gay or something and now you're forcrudating me?

Graphic![edit]

Ah, a WikiProject C+VG guy! So, you need a graphic influenced by one of the most famous early-period C+VG programs! If you need to use it on Simple English, you can copy it there or move it to Commons as it's GDFL. Hope you like it! ЯEDVERS 18:24, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:My Wife and Kids.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:My Wife and Kids.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu Badali 16:27, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now located a source and have removed the template. --Thorpe | talk 20:35, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that! But now I have a new concern. According to the Terms of Use of the source page, we can "not modify, publish, transmit, participate in the transfer or sale of, reproduce, create derivative works of, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, or in any way exploit any of the materials or content on our sites in whole or in part.". I belive this would mean the {{promotional}} would not apply in this case. I'm marking it as no license for a while, until we came up with a solution. --Abu Badali 21:19, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:WYSIWYG.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WYSIWYG.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 09:19, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DS Game Card Images[edit]

Simon Birch DVD Release[edit]

The release date is the year 2002, and my source is that is when I bought the dvd, and thats the copyright on it. Any more brain busters? There was also a release date for 1999. Even though I rented that film out before 2004 (and I rent movies), it must not have existed.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Assistant.PNG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Assistant.PNG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image:3410.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:3410.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Cybershot.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

Hey Thorpe, I just wanted to give a heads up on an old article that you wrote. I'm requesting a move back from Yoshi Topsy-Turvy to Yoshi's Universal gravitation, and you can see this here. The reasoning being that it's the original name everywhere else in the world before being released lastly in the Americas.
