Before warning people about actions you need to verify what actually happened. If you would have looked at the history of the article you would have seen that the only edit after your addition of the speedy deletion was one that I made with an edit summary, "decline speedy delete, there is content and context". I would suggest going to Jerems45 talk page and apologizing for giving a bad warning. Also the first warning that an editor gets shouldn't be a final warning unless the offense is really bad. Clue sticks and wet trout

I already know that I shouldn't post inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, and that doing so would not bet in accordance with our policies. But did you really think the title "illegal guns" and the lede didn't tell you what the topic of the article was? Or did you think it needed more references before it was finished? Or that all articles should be perfect immediately?

Great Escarpment

I declined your speedy deletion nomination of Great Escarpment. There was plenty of context to determine what that article was about. It had 2 references lots of wikilinks and even a picture of the area it is talking about. What did you not understand? GB fan 01:02, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Thetechexpert. Another A1 speedy tag you placed on here has been declined because the subject topic is obvious. That the article history showed it was edited multiple times since its creation in 2005 should have been an immediate clue. Yes I know what the article was about is just that the article had been around for awhile and had only one very short paragraph. doesn't that qualify it for speedy deletion?

No it does not qualify for speedy deletion. There are lots of articles around that are short and have been around for a long time. WP:A1 is very specific, it only applies if you do not know what the article is about. GB fan 01:26, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Whitewashing?

You really shouldn't delete talk page comments without addressing them, as you did here at 01:48, especially when they were written today (less than an hour ago, in fact). It looks worse when you did it just prior to applying for applying for rollback permission (for the second time in one day) at 01:52, a few minutes later. -- P.T. Another observation

You also seem to go directly to a level 4 warning. I have noticed this twice now. I mentioned it above when you accused Jerems45 of removing a speedy deletion notice from an article they created (they didn't remove it). Now I noticed you went directly to a level 4 on 68.181.247.6 after they edited one article on time. Also you waited almost 14 hours after you mde the reversion before you warned them. You should slow down and really look at what the proper level warning should be. Most of the time you should start with a level 1 warning and work your way up to a level 4 warning. No, they were blocked for abuse of privileges and as long as they are blocked the block messages and the declined unblock requests are supposed to be visible on the talk page. GB fan 04:08, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Speedy Deletions

You need to be careful with your speedy deletion nominations. I just declined three that you recently placed, Dave Moorcroft (footballer), Alan King (footballer) and John Kerr (footballer born 1959). You tagged all three of these with a speedy deletion that said there wasn't enough context to identify what the article is about. All three of them had wikilinks to other articles and references. Take John Kerr (footballer born 1959) for example. it says he is a footballer with a wikilink to Association football. It goes on to say he played for the Tranmere Rovers with a wikilink to Tranmere Rovers F.C.. It also has a reference. Can you explain why you tagged it for speedy deletion? Because they only had one sentance, but now on those (football people) ones I am just adding a tag to add more info. Sorry for the mistake.

If you are talking about adding tags like you did to Syd Farrimond, those tags are not appropriate either. The article is already tagged as a stub which means it should be expanded. The tags you added, context, that said that someone unfamiliar with the subject wouldn't understand what the article is about. There is plenty of context to understand that he is a footballer that played for the Bolton Wanderers. You added update, that says that there is information that contains date-sensitive information. There isn't any information like that in the article. You added that it needs to be wikified. The appropriate links are there and there isn't html code used in the article, nothing needs to be wikified. When you tag articles like that you should explain on the talk page why you are tagging the article. GB fan 01:47, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Huggle 3 beta is out - and we need more feedback!

Hey thetechexpert, how are you? I am Petrb, one of huggle developers, and you are currently subscribed as a beta tester of huggle on meta (meta:Huggle/Members. You may not have noticed, but this week I released first beta precompiled installers for ubuntu and microsoft windows! Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta has all the links you need. So if you can, please download it, test it and report all bugs that is really what we need now. Don't forgot that as it's just a beta it's unstable and there are some known issues. Be carefull! We need your help testing latest huggle

We desperately need attention of testers, because since we resolved all release blockers, we are ready to release first official version of huggle 3! Before that happens, it would be nice if you could test it so that we can make sure there are no issues with it. You can download it packaged for your operating system (see Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta) or you can of course build it yourself, see https://github.com/huggle/huggle3-qt-lx for that. Don't forget to use always latest version, there is no auto-update message for beta versions!

Should you find any issue, please report it to wikimedia bugzilla, that is a central place for huggle bugs, where we look at them. New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon

Hi thetechexpert, we are to release a new major version of huggle, but we did receive almost no feedback from our beta testing team, which you are a part of (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members). It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. You can always get a help with making it @ #huggle ^connect!

Major changes:

• Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
• Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
• Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

I have recently launched a new downloads for beta testers that contains nightly builds of huggle, eg. versions that are built every day from our master branch and contains latest huggle. These builds are currently provided only for Windows and Ubuntu. You can find them here: http://huggle.wmflabs.org/builds/

Please keep in mind that these don't have any automatic updates and if you download and start using nightly build, you will need to update it yourself! So don't get yourself to running old version, it's possible to install both stable and nightly huggle, which is what I suggest.

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

2019 US Banknote Contest

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
