Precious[edit]

film and television

Thank you for quality articles around film and television such as Talking Funny (television special), Filmography of Wes Anderson, Carl Reiner on screen and stage and Awards and nominations received by Ellen Burstyn, for Michael van der Veen, for updating related articles, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

You are recipient no. 2549 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:03, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Attribution[edit]

You have recently created List of awards and nominations received by Patrick Stewart and List of awards and nominations received by Matt LeBlanc by copying content from Patrick Stewart and Matt LeBlanc, respectively, without providing attribution to the article and work from which you copied them, as required by Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. As you have removed and ignored previous messages regarding this, please consider this your final warning. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:21, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I don't fully understand what you are asking. I often don't copy large portions that can't be recreated by myself. In fact I often re-create my own tables. Also how are you able to specifically find who originally created any table? It's often difficult isn't it? Other than scrolling through pages and pages of page revisions. If you have any tips please let me know. I wrote a general, "credit given", when creating these pages. Thanks!The One I Left (talk) 00:21, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Some of the content you are "re-creating" in some of these list articles were copied from other Wikipedia pages; the references cited for instance are exact copies. Even if you reformat the tables, it is still copying. Please read WP:PATT very carefully to see how to give proper attribution. Merely writing "credit given" is not sufficient. The easiest way to give proper attribution is to leave an edit summary that says: "copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution". See this edit summary as an example. Bennv123 (talk) 13:56, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And as I stated in my previous message, proper attribution is still required (not optional) for all your previous articles too. That means that you should go back to your previous articles, and if some of the content was copied from another Wikipedia page, you should leave an edit summary that says something to the effect of: "my previous edits copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution". See this example. Bennv123 (talk) 14:05, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I see now. Thanks very much for the examples. Will do so in the future and will work on going back as well. Cheers!The One I Left (talk) 16:24, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
When creating a new list, don’t use “content in previous edits were copied from page name” in your edit summary since a new page won’t have any previous edits. Just put “content copied from page name.” Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:29, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

 • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
 • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
 • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
 • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
 • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the template.

Information icon You have recently made edits related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. This is a standard message to inform you that articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. For more information about the contentious topics system, please see Wikipedia:Contentious topics.

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page List of awards and nominations received by Martin Scorsese, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

 • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 04:15, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve List of awards and nominations received by Andrew Scott[edit]

Hello, The One I Left,

Thank you for creating List of awards and nominations received by Andrew Scott.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hello! This page is well-formatted and organized. Please add sources for many of the awards won or nominated for that have no reference. A majority of the most internationally-notable awards already have proper citations, which is why I am marking this as reviewed. Keep up the great work.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with Trainsskyscrapers. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Michael Douglas- role inclusion[edit]

Hello, The One I Left. I noticed your past edits on the Michael Douglas article and your general interest in films and actors. I recently posted an edit request detailing the roles, awards, and information currently missing from Douglas' page. Would you please review? I'm happy to implement directly if you think these additions are warranted. Looking forward to hearing from you, BenKalman2024 (talk) 17:10, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
