Lee Pace

Thanks for fixing Lee Pace. I was trying to figure that out, but the citations seemed to be contradictory. I didn't see one (maybe skipped over) that was obviously by Pace. Is there an obvious source for that? It might be good to add it to the "as queer" which hopefully would stop this rather slow edit war. Thanks Adakiko (talk) 22:11, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

  • @Adakiko: I found it in ref 1, the NYT article. It's annoyingly paywalled but I managed to find the part in the article before the paywall message came up where it referenced a tweet he made describing himself as being part of the queer community, I double checked the tweet and it's still up on his twitter account. I also found this article from pinknews from August this year that references the same tweet. There are some conflicting articles though and the first ref and tweet are from 2018 so maybe there should be a talk page discussion to get WP:Consensus in case he uses a different term now. Suonii180 (talk) 22:49, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. Has category:American gay actors. No category:American queer actors that I can see. Change to category:Queer actors? I believe that twitter can be used for self-identity wp:TWITTER. Should it be cited? Cheers Adakiko (talk) 02:10, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
@Adakiko: There's category:LGBT actors from the United States which could work as category:American queer actresses‎ is a subcategory within it but there isn't an actors subcat. If not then category:Queer actors would probably work as well. It would probably be a good idea to add it as a source especially as some of the other sources available are paywalled. Regards, Suonii180 (talk) 23:59, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
The first would work, I'd think. If there are a significant number that fit, could create category:American queer actors. Here is the latest archive.today link all the archives Cheers Adakiko (talk) 00:48, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Its regarding Sarita Joshi's personal bio where you are adding unverified and incorrect information

Not sure why you are removing parameters like this. These are cosmetic edits that make no difference in the rendered output and should only be done in conjunction with more substantial changes. Also, you are actually making conflicts errors because this infobox can't have other_name and alias at the same time. You apparently aren't doing a Show Preview its a personal bio page and you can't edit things without verifying its personal offence do check before adding any person's relationships in a website and you can't link someone name and relation as spouses etc without checking it is true or not 223.223.151.44 (talk) 16:06, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

  • Her first marriage to Rajkumar Khatau is mentioned and sourced in the main text and your edit added unsourced information including date of birth which shouldn't be included without secondary sources as per WP:DATEOFBIRTH. You need to provide sources when adding information including personal information and public opinions of TV shows. Suonii180 (talk) 18:23, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

Re: Sydney Swans edit not ‘constructive’

If you want to draw my attention, then expect a reply. Thanks for the message re: reverting my edit for not being ‘constructive’.

Now I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Australia before (let alone Melbourne), but over there, we make these strange things called jokes. It is quite normal for fans of opposing clubs to rip the hell out of each other, especially within AFL when you get big rivalries such as my club Collingwood against Carlton, but we’re able to do it in ways that doesn’t lead to public violence, which is why the Grand Final has been such an open environment.

That being said, I’ve made the joke at the expense of the Swans (even though I’m not a Geelong supporter), it’s done and the AFL season is over, you’ve done the reversal already and Wikipedia’s servers haven’t burnt to the ground, so build a bridge and get over it.

And I seriously hope you’re not taking a ‘do good at all costs’ meaning to that ‘constructive’ reasoning. Your job there is to maintain a factual and unbiased article, not writing a cheer squad chant.

As for sport in general, whether you want to hear it or not, if losses and jokes at one’s expense is a given in life, then it is doubly so in sport. Take this from a supporter of the most infamous club in the AFL who has had to go through a gutful of rips after we lost the 2018 Grand Final to West Coast at the hands of one Dom Sheed. Resilience is required in this situation, because it’s no good being permanently depressed over some words or some moments in time, because guess what? It’s a sport. As long as someone supports his or her team, who cares what others think? My club is the most hated in the entire league, but it doesn’t bother me.

While professional sport is a much beloved aspect of life, it can also at times be the cruelest thing ever, and it was exactly that for the Sydney Swans who hardly did anything in this year’s Grand Final, seeing as Geelong had one of their easiest victories out there. So if you can’t put up with the reality of losing a big game, and if you can’t grasp the concept of supporters having a go at each other and engaging in jokes and bantering at one another’s expense, then stay the hell away from professional sport.

The 2022 Grand Final is done. Now it’s time to move on. 211.31.198.120 (talk) 05:21, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Shadow ministerships

Please see these contribs concerning the mass removal of shadow ministerships from Canadian MP infoboxes. I left a note on their talk page, but it seems that they are just undoing undos. --PerpetuityGrat (talk) 15:06, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

@PerpetuityGrat: I've left a message at their talk page as well with links to WP:CONSENSUS and WP:BRD and again suggested that they discuss the changes first so hopefully they'll do that instead of undoing reverts again. I also misunderstood the COI notice they were leaving in the edit summaries so I've striked that part out of my message, I think my brain was having a bit of a WP:TROUT moment. Hispanophobia

Suonii180, this is hispanophobia. And censorship. The sovereign country where his grandfather was from is censored due to prejudice, but the origin of his region is maintained. That doesn't make any sense. Hate towards all things Spanish is common in some English-speaking communities, but it should be eradicated from this encyclopedia. I've not been creating many biographies lately. If you would like to request that an article is written it would be better to add their name to Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biography/By profession#Artists or discuss it at a related WikiProject such as WP:ART. Glenn Jobe page

Thank you very much for your message, Louise!

im not sure how to change Glenn’s birth date without having a copy of his birth certificate. He is a friend, and I verified the date 2 days ago.

im also trying to stop the deletion request of his page. He is a noteworthy member of the Truckee / Tahoe / Sierra biathlon and cross country skiing community. I am looking for articles written about him and will include those on his page. Thank you again.

TDSnowshoe (talk) 03:29, 5 February 2023 (UTC)

@TDSnowshoe:, Hi! I've been pinged at the deletion discussion, glad sources were found. A birth certificate wouldn't be a suitable source as it falls under WP:PRIMARY. For help on finding suitable sources please see WP:RELIABLE. If you have a close connection with the subject of a Wikipedia article then it's advised that you don't edit the article directly as it could be a conflict of interest. Instead it would be better to discuss changes at the talk page first, I've left a notice at your talk page with links regarding these policies. Let me know if you have any questions or alternatively you can ask at the WP:TEAHOUSE. Regards, Suonii180 (talk) 23:01, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. Invitation

Hello Suonii180!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

New page reviewer granted

Hi Suonii180. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 18:06, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
