Question[edit]

Are You able to work on french wikipedia ? My user name there is Leafar [1]

Alas, no. In principle it could be modified to work on multiple wikis, but it requires a lot of back-end computing power and right now we're only supporting the English one. Sorry. -- ForteTuba 13:45, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

another question[edit]

What if you want more suggestions from SB, do you just readd your name to the request list?--KrossTalk 18:23, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. It doesn't have a repeat mode or anything yet (though a few people have asked for one). -- ForteTuba 22:42, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of this, would a repeat mode be do-able?? Or could someone just set up an old-fashioned calendar so SuggestBot would bump things to us, say, every 90 days??

Buddpaul 20:06, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It could be done, though right now there's no interface for it. I suppose I could make a manual page for it until I get something fancier built. Thanks for the note. -- ForteTuba 14:58, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

comment in requests section[edit]

I found the following comment in the requests section. Since it's a computer reading the requests, I've moved the comment here. Michael Slone (talk) 03:30, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Navou I enjoy merging, copy editing for spelling and style, and general improvment on medical articles. Thanks. Navou talk 20:50, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thks, taken care of. -- ForteTuba 15:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

aww[edit]

I was removed by Fortetuba in this diff but didn't get any suggestions. I suppose it's the damn ö in my username. I'll try again... Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 12:23, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if it ever tried to run, as I might have accidentally removed it while updating the list of people who got suggestions. I'll add your name to the requests page and give it a shot next time it goes. The damn ö may in fact be a problem but we'll give it a shot. -- ForteTuba 18:26, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Remove[edit]

I'm not sure where to post this, so I figure it will be seen here. Can I please be removed from the list to receive suggestions? APT41790 19:12, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done -- you were listed on the regulars page and I removed your name. Sorry it wasn't working for you. -- ForteTuba 22:15, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I have been away for a while, I now have too many suggestions to deal with at the moment. I want to find my way back into the habit of editing slowly, so please remove me from the list. I will be back:) Thanks--dick (talk) 00:21, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest Bot[edit]

I mostly make contributions in computer-related categories...how does it come up with articles for me to look at like some war in a third world country? How well does it make suggestions based on our past edits?

Complex-Algorithm 23:10, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SuggestBot works too well[edit]

Thank you, SuggestBot. You're suggestions were shockingly insightfull in targetting my interests, while bring up few articles I was already aware of.

For future reference: you may want to mix some exciting articles in with the real suggestions. Sometimes, like Ghost World's Seymour, I hate my interests. --Wragge 00:25, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help on bots requests time[edit]

I signed up to this on the 25th March and its been a week and a half since despite the caption saying "not too distant future etc" so I would be gratful if someone could chase it up. Thanks. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 08:31, 3 April 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Moving down?[edit]

I put my name on the list a few weeks ago, and coming back it looks like people have actually added their name before mine. Does it usually take this long? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rwiggum (talkcontribs) 22:56, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Ziggy Sawdust[edit]

Just a note to let you know why I deleted this user from your list. Ziggy Sawdust is a known sockpuppet of Flameviper, a banned user and ZS is also now blocked indefinitely. A lot of us are pretty certain that ZS is also behind the "Avril Troll" making everyones life difficult on the reference desk. Not a good idea to give this user suggestions of articles to edit, he already has too many ideas of his own. SpinningSpark 23:21, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lazy Bot[edit]

For being an automated piece of software, it sure likes to take a lot of time off. meinsla talk 07:03, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree; the suggestion time should be reduced to one or two days, or preferably 10-20 hours. It does a time consuming work, but should not take more than half-an-hour to one hour for scanning an user's contribs and another 2-3 hours for posting . I think it should preferably search for only the contribs in the past 6 months or year since many users work on an article for a month and leave it afterwards. Also, they might lose interest in the subject and quit editing the article. Anyway, there may be many contributions to articles which was perhaps then a Stub/Start class but now has been deleted at RfD. Anyway, it does a good job to help bored Wikipedians. My SuggestBot[edit]

I requested for suggestions a few weeks ago. When will be able to have them? Btw, I'm User:Bejinhan. Bejinhan a.k.a. EvangelineTalk 14:04, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I request that Miley Cyrus age to be changed from 17 to 18 her year 1992 and her age is 18 not 17 if would've been 17 her year will be 1993 if this you want this wiki to be more accurate on Miley Cyrus Page.User:MadaraPeinKyuuby —Preceding undated comment added 21:39, 2 November 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Improving the patterns[edit]

Is there a way for me to tell it which suggestions where good and which were off? Or at least have an indication as to "why" it chose an article? (Trying to help make a better bot) -- Mjquin_id (talk) 04:10, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Housekeeping[edit]

Wondered if you could do a minor bit of housekeeping - can User:Dawn bard be removed from the list of recipients as it is a redirect page to the renamed account User:Dawn Bard which you are also sending suggestions to. Thanks. Keith D (talk) 01:00, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I've removed the double entry. Nettrom (talk) 22:16, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remove my name[edit]

Thanks, but I rarely edit now so how can I remove my name from the list of recipients? Cheers Aaroncrick TALK 06:07, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All you have to do is remove the template form your user talk page, which I already did (here is the change I made). I'll also add a section to User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly on how to do this, as I noticed we don't mention that. Hope to see you again some time in the future! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 15:56, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How to request[edit]

I'm new to Wikipedia editing and am trying to find articles to edit. This seems like a good and useful tool - is it still in use? I couldn't quite figure out how to submit requests for topics I'm interested in. Where do I post my request? Thanks! Alinenaroditsky (talk) 03:53, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Alinenaroditsky: Hi, welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for asking! Yes, SuggestBot is still active, and should respond to requests within 15 minutes, probably less. To request suggestions, you have to add a template to your user talk page. The process is described on this page. There is also a shortcut to doing this that only requires a bit of copy & paste, which you can reach by going to the Teahouse page for getting suggestions and clicking the "Get suggestions" button. Let me know if that doesn't help you out, and I'll do my best to assist you! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 16:21, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble with Request[edit]

Hello, I have tried to request for SuggestBot on my talk page because I think it is a really cool idea, but it isn't working. Can someone help me with this? Thank you in advance. Aoba47 (talk) 04:42, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aoba47, I'm sorry to hear it's not working the way it should and I'm investigating what causes this. Hope to be in touch again shortly with you getting the suggestions you wanted. Regards, Nettrom (talk) 16:54, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Aoba47! It was an easy thing to fix and you've got some suggestions, I hope they're articles you're interested in working on. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 17:31, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Sorry for any inconvenience. Hope you have a great day. Best, Aoba47 (talk) 18:49, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Creating an article[edit]

Hey, I've been sent here in order to get an Wikipedia editor to create an article for biography of a living persons. I'm not experienced with Wikipedia and I'd love to speak with someone that can do that. Looking forward to hear your answer, thank you in advanced. PinkWriter99 (talk) 20:13, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@PinkWriter99: I dunno who sent you here but this isn't the right place for something like this. I"d suggest asking this at WP:TEA instead. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:15, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
