Welcome to Wikiproject Oregon! Its nice to have someone from outside the valley on board, as it can allow us more comprehensive coverage of the state as a whole. A great start would be to add an image of Medford to wikipedia. If you have any images on your computer, it is really easy to do it yourself, or you can scan pitcures and put them in, too (see WP:IMAGE. Also, anything you can do to help improve the Medford article would be great as it is pretty bare bones at this point. Welcome to Wikipedia, let me know if I can help you in any way. Medford[edit]
My understanding is that the subdivision name for Medford would be a city, the official name being City of Medford. This is pretty much standard throughout Oregon (eg, City of Eugene, City of Portland, etc.). Although some states have different subdivisions (eg, towns, cities, boroughs), to my knowledge, Oregon has only two subdivisions, cities and counties. So even really small places in Oregon are called cities (eg, City of Oakridge, City of Paisley). Hope this helps your understanding. PDXblazers 00:40, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Table for Medford is a good start. Look at the table in Eugene, Oregon for what I think is a similar model as DC, but a bit better for Medford. Try to find the city seal, and if you don't readily have a picture availiable, use the map for your table. After you get the table in there, I can insert the pic. FYI, to do it yourself, you need to download it onto your computer, upload it under the 'upload file' link under the searchbar. Then, you simply place the image into the table. But I can do it, no problem.

David Card[edit]
I saw that you made a disambiguation page for David Card, leaving room for an Oregon businessman by the same name. Do you intend to write an article about him? Please do, I would be glad if you did. But if nobody writes an article about the Oregon businessman David Card, there is no reason for the disambiguation page to exist and I should delete it. Hi there, I'm kinda new to this wiki thing so I apologize if this question is a little absurd to you, and yyou don't need to answer it. Recently I have tried to convince my friend that wiki is actually a safe source to use. He thinks that any person can just go ahead and vandalize any page and it stays like that. Now I told them about anti-vandal bots etc. I also heard from him that recently like 100 students got all F's because of info they got from wiki. Now I doubt that story is true, but how can I show my friend to trust wikipedia?
- Hi Steven. I'd say that the best way to address your friend's concerns is to test it. Get him to ask some esoteric questions on some field he is familiar with and then look them up in Wikipedia to see if it has the right answers. You could also tell him about the 'history' link on each page which can be used to show prior versions and/or recent changes... thus allowing most vandalism to be easily spotted. It is also worth noting that there have been studies by major news organizations comparing Wikipedia's accuracy on randomly selected articles to Britannica and other major encyclopedias... and in each case Wikipedia has come out about even with the 'respected standards'. For example, see this comparison of Wikipedia and Brittanica on science articles. It is always possible that at any given moment a particular Wikipedia article may contain misinformation, but in my experience 99% of the time if you go to any given page it is going to have the information you are looking for and be completely accurate. --CBD 13:46, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
WP:CORP[edit]
Hi, Steven91. I suspect the message was added to Combined Transport Inc. as a reference to the page WP:CORP, where you can find our notability guidelines for companies and corporations. There are some criteria listed on that page - if Combined Transport Inc. meets those criteria then it should be pretty easy to show that it does. Otherwise, someone may nominate the article for deletion, and although WP:CORP is a guideline, as opposed to a policy, it tends to carry a fair amount of weight in deletion discussions. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge. In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, in partnership with social practice artist Shoshana Gugenheim and as part of the Art+Feminism Project, will host the 2nd Annual International Women's Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to edit and/or create Wikipedia articles for Jewish women artists. The event will be held at the museum on Thursday, March 7 from 4 to 8 pm. Pre-registration is preferred but not required. Members of the public are invited to come to the museum to learn about the editing process, its history, its impact, and how to do it. We aim to collaboratively edit/enter 18 Jewish women artists into the canon. Support will be provided by an experienced local Wikipedian who will be on site to teach and guide the process. This edit-a-thon will serve as both a public art action and a public educational program. Participants will have an opportunity to select an artist/s ahead of time or on site.

Wikipedia is one of the most-visited sites on the internet—and it’s created by people who volunteer their time to write and edit pages. Learn how to edit Wikipedia and be a part of shaping our understanding of our world. In this workshop, volunteer Wikipedia editors will be on hand to train participants on how to get started editing pages and offer ideas for which pages you can pitch in to help improve. Show up at any point during the four hours to get started!
Also: Free burritos!! We will be providing vegan, vegetarian, and meat burritos from food cart Loncheria Las Mayos. Alder Commons has a large, fenced playground. Children are welcome! Some computers will be available to borrow, but if you have a laptop, please bring it to use. We will also be leading an online training for new editors at 11am-12pm PST.
