Talk page purpose vs user page vandalism by other users[edit]

apostles established churches?[edit]

The period of early Christianity during the lifetimes of the apostles is called the Apostolic Age.[1] During the 1st century AD, the apostles established churches throughout the territories of the Roman Empire and, according to tradition, through the Middle East, Africa, and India.

There are a number of reasons for thinking this is untrue and seems to have only the support of apologetic sources:

1:) Only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel Matthew 15:22-27

  22 Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.” 23 But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, “Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26 He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.

This is entirely consistent with the view of Jesus scholar Geza Vermes (Jesus The Jew, Christian Beginings)

2.) Do not preach to the Gentiles Matthew 10:5-7 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, 6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+10%3A1-8&version=NRSV

3.) Apostles not in the mission field

   While neither verse seems to be corroborated by other sources directly, Paul tells us Peter (and James) were in Jerusalem 3 years after his conversion Galatians

4.) Gentiles?

  At the council of Jerusalem, some 20 years after the crucifixion, the apostles, still in Jerusalem, stillBold text don't know what to do with 
  Gentiles and in Galatians 2 Paul describes Peter as the apostle to the Jews.

5.) While it is abundantly clear that Paul "established churches throughout the territories of the Roman Empire" there is very little if any evidence that The

   Pillars, Peter, James or John spent time in the "mission field"

In sum, Jesus appears to have rejected Gentiles and, in one source is said to have explicitly prohibited his apostles from going "among the gentiles" That Paul finds Peter in Jerusalem 3 years after his conversion and again 14 years later suggests the Pillars never left Jerusalem which is entirely consonant with the above and there is no reliable evidence that they did otherwise.
