Note there are 4 separate subsections on 4 disputed passages. Pace yourself -- subclinical paranoia runs high, complete with comparisons to Watergate [1]. Several people keep saying there's a worldwide conspiracy of powerful Harvard graduates manipulating Wikipedia articles along with interest rates and world copper prices. I don't want to impose, but you could look at each of the 4 subsections and comment on each. In most cases that will require reading the sources cited, because the general problem here is that one editor misinterprets those sources. Sorry, but I just don't see a coherent concept here around which an article could be formed. What would prove me wrong would be sources specifically discussing the term in some detail, not just as a cute catchword for something vaguely related to Harvard. EEng (talk) 13:27, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

I was intending to fix the article a while back and watchlisted it but got distracted by other issues. The relevant notability guideline for her would be WP:GNG, WP:AUTHOR, WP:POLITICIAN, and WP:PROF. She does not pass WP:PROF as an economist but she passes WP:POLITICIAN as member of German Parliament. Reference:

I left a comment at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dinesh Thakur but in case you didn't see it: you wrote there "This article submission has been approved". Why was it approved? Where is the evidence that the subject passes WP:PROF? —David Eppstein (talk) 16:37, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the note here (I didn't noticed it). His citation record does have two 3 digit figures. While not so great, one of them is from the Annals of Mathematics. This might be a borderline case of WP:PROF. (BTW, "This article submission has been approved" is an automated message). Solomon7968 16:53, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
Also, please don't move articles from titles so that new articles can be moved there from AfC. The new article should have the disambiguation (if it passes the AfC criteria, which in this case it apparently hasn't), but you shouldn't be moving pages such as you did. —SpacemanSpiff 09:19, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
@SpacemanSpiff I agree that the theatre director is the primary topic here. I intended to move the theatre director back to "Dinesh Thakur" after accepting the AFC (since if the page history is only redirect then it can be moved via over redirect i.e. G6 is not necessary) and moving the mathematician to "Dinesh Thakur (mathematician)". Apparently AFC namespace pages cannot be moved over redirect hence the problem. Hope it helps. (BTW, the original decline reason of the AFC is not valid; unless an academic is Nobel laureate or so, secondary sources [other than CV or university Homepage] aka gossip stories are not readily available). I don't understand why you need to do that, you can just as well move the AfC candidate to "FOO (dab)". Why you need to move FOO to FOO (dab2) and then move AfC to FOO, and then move FOO to FOO (dab) and then move FOO (dab2) to FOO is what I don't understand. I'm not involved in the AfC process so I have no idea about that -- all I saw was one comment saying not approved and another questioning approval but eitherways that doesn't affect my concern with the move. cheers —SpacemanSpiff 12:31, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Model list

Hi. Started List of populated places in Adilabad district. Very time consuming but so far I've already redirected some villages. If you actually see most of the major towns even those could largely be summarized in a table. I'm taking a break from it for now, haven't done the coordinates from M onwards though if you want to continue. See the template I created at the bottom for other districts. Ideally we should have this sort of thing for every district and state of India. But it's too much for me to take on. It would take over two years to do it all, all day, every day!! I'm going to add a lot of missing villages and try to make this a model list for others to follow. But if we could somehow create automated lists of settlements with coordinates and a table to fill in it could become a gradually thing to fill them and redirect the more redundant/problematic articles. Disruptive editing

I find it amusing that you've accused me of disruptive editing for politely reminding an editor not to add unsourced material to biographies of living people. Adding unsourced material to a BLP is a violation the WP:BLP policy, and we're admonished to "be very firm about the use of high-quality sources." For examples of truly disruptive editing, please see WP:TALKO (a guideline) which states that "you should not edit or delete the comments of other editors without their permission." I take both our BLP policy and our behavioral guidelines very seriously. I hope that you do the same. Pburka (talk) 17:23, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

Adding unsourced material to a biographies of living people is a violation the WP:BLP policy, true, but this case wasn't. There were several sources readily available (the official facebook, twitter accounts also mentioned it but they are not WP:RS) so there was nothing stopping you from do a simple Google search or add a {{cn}} tag. What prompted me to revert you was not your revert but your enthusiastic template warning the editor. He is a veteran editor and knows policies well, I suggest you read Don't template the regulars. Clearly the editor failed to add sources in this case, and the editor's comment ("added this because i wanted do know how he got to law after IIT. Will request all battling editors to be help wikipedia and keep the bits that are informative instead of wholesale reverts") seemed to suggest that the editor was unfamiliar with our policy on verifiability and reliable sources. (We don't keep information because it's informative; we keep information because it's verifiable.) Furthermore, I could not (and still cannot) find a reliable source supporting the claim that the subject attended University of Delhi. I understand that this article is the subject of some emotional editing because of its political subject, but I have no dog in that fight. I have also read the essay you linked to, and must say that the author's argument is not convincing. Pburka (talk) 18:10, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
Trust me, I have nothing "emotional" with Somnath Bharti. Infact I *never* heard his name and only it came to my notice by your template warning (of the editor). I get that you may not have realized that he is a veteran editor (he is editing since 2004). Edit on Jaroslav Nešetřil

The 15th August 2013, you revised the entry Jaroslav Nešetřil, suppressing the indication of doctoral students as "not directly related to the subject himself and can be easily accessed via MathGenealogy". Nevertheless, doctoral_students is a standard entry of the Infobox scientist template (hence has been considered as relevant for scientist bio entries) and the possibility to find an information somewhere else does not seem to me to be an argument against its publication on wikipedia, specially in this very particular case, MathGenealogy being unknown to most Wikipedia readers (you don't need to be a mathematician to be interested by a bio). 195.113.16.254 (talk) 11:36, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information and I do not think all of his 20 students passes the notability criteria, hence the removal. But numerous editors on the talk page have supported the inclusion of Sen, my edits are by no means unilateral. I don't know if you're Bengali, but Yunus and Sen are the most influential global Bengali icons and frankly I can't think of an acceptable collage without both of them. Herbert Giles

I did a Google Books search but I didn't see a biography of him in it. However I did run into a citation for a critique of his translation of Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio. Sorry for not replying further. I do use Google Books but a typical problem with Orientalists (Sinologists, Indologists etc.) is that the usual readily available sources are Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition or the Dictionary of National Biography. So unless someone has access to pay walled sources (which is not the case with me) it is very difficult to expand the articles. Wikipedia:RX off course is the last resort.
