Welcome and U2 project...

Welcome to wikipedia – wow, a new editor getting straight into creating projects! I’ve had it in the back of my mind to create a wiki project for U2, but it’s great to see the ground work being done by you.

I’m one of a few long-term/frequent U2-related editors. I’m very familiar with the key U2 article and some of the others. I’m part way through a process of re-writing the pivotal UF and JT album articles. Although I didn’t found it, I’ve been heavily involved in maintaining the Indonesia wikiproject – which has considerably larger scope than U2, of course. So, I think I can bring a bit here.

We need to refine and clarify scope, and also get a few more mechanisms in place – such as assessment, etc. As a real life project manager, I know successful scope definition is crucial to project success. Scope doesn’t necessarily have to be small, but it has to be clear and well thought out.

Anyway, great work and we’ll be in touch again no doubt.

Hi, thanks for your note on my talk page. Just a quick 'heads up' - when posting on article talk or user talk pages, make sure to sign your posts. Do this by either typing ~~~~ or clicking the button above. Of course, one must not sign the actual articles. see you 'round soon, no doubt. Thanks again for the U2 work. Suggestions

I'll post some suggestions as I think of them. First though, you might want to get others involved. Off the top of my head, a list of the regular editors includes (but no doubt I've missed some)...

I also know a couple of people who are good at creating templates and also a portal. See Portal:Indonesia - what about a U2 portal? Merbabu 11:08, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Did some work

I fixed the project banner template. There is still some work to be done on those red links. Also, I will write some article assessment criteria in a few days. How does that sound? Merbabu 14:44, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Newsletter

Hey there. When do you plan to distribute the newsletter? I have a few ideas if you can wait 24 hours. Of course, in consultation with you. What do you indent to use the newsletter for? Perhaps the first one is different to the rest – you can use it to introduce the project – maybe ½ dozen points on it. Anyway, I will think about it today and get back to you if you can wait. Cheers. WikiProject U2 templates

Yes, it's totally fine to use, feel free :) Everything on Wikipedia is licensed on the GFDL anyway so you can use whatever you like. However, I wrote it and as all my contributions are public domain you can take it and use it for whatever you like without credit ;) Good luck with the new project. I'd help out myself, but I can't stand U2. Kamryn Matika 15:52, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Nah mate

I'm just helping the project with templates as Merbabu asked me to do. So, yeah, the template on my userpage was just for debugging the userbox template. If you've noticed, now ever userbox is connected to a category, which is the project's members. Anyway, hmm, actually no. Thanks - Imoeng 07:08, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

U2 navbox

There is currently a list of singles at U2 discography#Singles. That article all ready has its own link on the navbox. If you were asking if I could add each single to the navbox individually, that would make the navbox way too big because there are more singles than links in navbox currently. The article for each single has the chronology listed in its infobox already, so I don't think it is necessary to put them into a navbox. –Dream out loud (talk) 02:50, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject WikiProject Red Hot Chili Peppers June 2007 Newsletter

The Red Hot Chili Peppers WikiProject Newsletter
Volume 1, no. 3 — June 2007
"When I joined the Chili Peppers Anthony and Flea could have said 'Listed, we're the whole thing, and you're just here to play guitar', ya know, but we would have never made a record like Blood Sugar or Californication had they said that to me, ya know; instead what they said was 'You're equal to us...you're ideas are no less important than ours are'." - John Frusciante

Delivery for WP:U2

Hi Smithcool. Thanks for having interest in using my bot to deliver the WP:U2 newsletter. However, before adding instructions for delivery, please contact me first, so I can tell you or not whether I'll deliver it for you. In this case, there are only 8 members in the project, so it can easily be done by hand. Because of that, my bot will not be delivering it. However, it seems that the project only started 4 days ago, and already has 8 members, which is very good. If by next month, you have more than 20 people, please contact me about delivering the newsletter. At this point, just do it manually yourself. Thanks, --(Review Me) R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 23:38, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

See my talk for a reply. --(Review Me) R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 14:44, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, you now have 19 members, so I'll do. First I need to know, is the newsletter substed, and is there an opt-out list. With these answers, I'll make the directions myself tonight, have you confirm them, then deliver tomorrow. --(Review Me) R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 20:06, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Please check here. Once you confirm that everything is right, just tell me when you want it delivered. --(Review Me) R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 22:53, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Collaboration...

I've suggested I can start running the collabs on the collab talk page. [1] Merbabu 23:05, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
