Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Tennis scoring system added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, likely in an attempt to display that image on the page. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Thank you. Sam Sailor 13:17, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Singapore Sling has been reverted.
Your edit here to Singapore Sling was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://kalesijablog.wordpress.com/2014/02/16/so-who-was-ngiam-tong-boon/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 16:16, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Singapore Sling has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Smartiperson. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:22, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Smartiperson: Could you please respond to this? Thanks!! CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:30, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Smartiperson: I am requesting once more for your communication as I'd rather not go to AN/I. Regardless of having a COI or not, please explain why you've changed the entire Singapore Sling article to mostly unsourced, trivial content about Raffles Hotel. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:36, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Chrissy, I assume I can respond to you here? I have no COI as I am not employed etc by any organisation relating to this drink or the Raffles Hotel etc. Is that sufficient information?

Regarding your comments on the content, I have amended the revisions to remove the unnecessary content about the Raffles Hotel, but have left in a description of the most up-to-date recipe that they provide as that seems to be the most well-recognised version and balances with the additional historical information I have provided.

Smartiperson Can you please explain why you've transformed Singapore Sling into an advertisement for Raffles Hotel, while removing actual sourced information and replacing it with mostly copyright violations and puffery for aforementioned hotel? So far no non-RHS related sources have been included, nor anything remotely reliable. I'd ask that you please restore the previous article which was sourced and balanced. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:45, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You've also said the information from raffles is most up to date - yet have failed to provide sources. A hotel claiming they've created something is not exactly reliable and you need to include independent reliable sources that report on this. I don't doubt that they did invent it but I doubt that it's so notably "theirs" to include dozens of references in a mostly unrelated subject. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:51, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can see what you mean, I'll try to restore the balance by taking out the unnecessary hotel references. But to be fair, I had added in more references and quotes from other sources of cocktail recipes to make it more even

And that's part of the problem. You're adding unencyclopedic content (WP:RECIPE) and copyright violations. Few if any of the edits have been reliably sourced. For that reason, I'm restoring the last good version and I suggest that we both request changes be made on the talk page of the article since it's become such a mess. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:54, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I can go through and remove the parts that are in conflict

Update[edit]

Ok, I appreciate your wisdom on this. I feel there’s some good stuff in with the ‘mess’ so it would be a shame to lose it all and go back to the original which had its own errors and omissions. But happy to work towards the best result Smartiperson (talk) 19:11, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source/license for File:Wake up Suzie simon&garfunkel.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Wake up Suzie simon&garfunkel.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:
