Dev Ross Page[edit]

Please note, there is no copyright infringement on my Dev Ross page as I wrote the IMDb page, at Dev's request. I will be happy to send you the email, from Dev, thanking me for the work I did on her IMDb page. PLEASE DO NOT DELETE MY WIKI PAGE. Dev is mentioned on other Wiki pages and this is a work in progress, as most Wiki pages are. It seems to me that an article you worked on, Dev Ross, may be copied from http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0743361/. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

  • MissionIt! Please know that I did appreciate the help you were giving on this project. Unfortunately, a new editor came along and just deleted the page. That is what I find so troubling with the speedy deletion. Another editor has been assisting me. Just to complete the documentation on this forum, the information was clearly marked as a "stub" and it was also my own work that was on another site. Within just a matter of moments I had come back to Wiki, after helping my daughter with a few homework problems, to find that someone else had gone to your list of speedy deletions and deleted not only my article, but approximately ten others without any dialogue or review. Your work is appreciated and many blessings to you as you continue to go forward. I pray that you do think twice about using speedy deletions in the future, though. They are heartbreaking.   • reading the abusive input from your reader above — I'm not sure what you are referring to here, but I've become pretty thick-skinned over the years
  • I have absolutely no connection with the show and nothing to gain financially nor notoriety — no suggestion that you do
  • remember the Wiki courtesy rules, talking before deleting — the point of speedy deletion is that articles that meet the criteria can be deleted without discussion. I'm quite happy to sandbox the deleted text for you to work on further.

I deleted your article because

  • You did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Although you gave some references, they were mainly to the show or TV station itself, not independent sources. You may not be aware that an editor after your last edit started working on the article, but restored the request for speedy deletion with the comment Decided not to try to save this. This soap only has 12 episodes and lacks Ghits and GNEWS of substance.
  • It was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: unique landscape... main attraction... known for its supernatural aura... highlights on what the casual observer and the mystic seer experience, the seen and unseen, vortexes, crystals, ghosts, Breatharians, yogis, and maybe, well, yes, aliens... local color... demands a lot from this project and has stated that she wants the series to be fun, as well as serious; she wants to hit the right demographic and have all age groups watch it... high demand... reveals Dev’s sense of humor that is reflected in her writing. Just imagine, for one moment, the hilarity in being all things to all people... — and much, much more in the same purple prose vein, it's a one-sided rave review, not an impartial encyclopaedia article
  • Director/Producer/Writer why have you changed from writing about the film to doing a biography of him? It should be a separate article (and biographies of living people must have references).

Independent Verifiable Sources— I provided links to newspaper articles and IMDb. Yes, you are right. I had not finished the project, so information I have had not been completed.
Number of Episodes— Not sure why this is going for deletion based on the number of episodes. Other shows, with fewer episodes, are on Wiki. Roots only had 8.
Wiki Tone— I can see your point on the tone. Sedona is known for the items I've listed and this article. It is said that God created the Grand Canyon, but lives in Sedona.[1]. I was working on describing a painting without glorifying it. People from all over the world come to Sedona for these exact reasons I did list. It's what Sedona "is". Sedona is ranked #1 in best weekend getaways for the U.S., #3 for most affordable honeymoons, #7 for North American hiking trips, also #7 in relaxing getaways.[2] I don't want to write a travelogue, I do want to describe what the shows about, and it is about the scenery, aliens, a dancer... I can change the wording, but only if it is under discussion, not if it is just deleted.
I am working on Dev's Wiki Bio and she did did have a reference to her IMDb page. I'm happy to change the biographical tone. I was adding in those players to demonstrate this show is by established names in the industry.
I do want to do a neutral presentation and other than referring to the show, IMDb, and I hope that in the process I may rely on your help. These sudden deletes are devastating. Smacorder (talk) 16:36, 9 April 2013 (UTC)kind regards[reply]

ResponseHi! Had a horrible last five days with a hard drive crash (boo hoo on me!) Anyway, shocked that you deleted the grid I spent all that time researching from IMDb, tv.com, tvguide.com, etc...I thought you'd actually like it! It shows that she has written and done voice directing for shows on major channels. You originally stated, and your reason for wanting to delete her, is that she isn't known in the industry. I researched how to make this an interactive grid and took the lead from other Wiki pages that reference Dev and are actually linking to her page now. PLEASE tell me how you would like me to present this data as what I am doing is looking for information that will show you she is prominent in the industry. I listed something like 60-65 shows she wrote, just for animated television, and had not even included everything, as some had conflicting information that didn't sit well with me.
How would one present the list of Spielberg movies or Tesla inventions without it sounding like a resume to you? (Not being snarky; I'm sincerely asking.) I especially did it in grid form to take out any non encyclopedic language that you have frowned on in the past. Believe me, when I'm writing this, I have you solely in mind. Please reconsider and allow me to repost the grid without deletion. This is already an approved Wiki grid format. Thank you! P.S. It is also past the week, of which we spoke, and there have been no disents to have Ms. Ross's bio deleted, so I kindly request that the tag be removed. it is great you took the time to research how to create grids; however, Wikipedia is not a place to create resumes. It is a place for articles, this type of material is better suited for IMDB or a personal website. If you wish to add 4 or 5 credits of substantial value that would work. Response: Boy, you get around, quick! Just left you a message on the other page!! I'm not creating a resume...just trying to answer to the messages that state I haven't demonstrated Ms. Ross's contributions to the industry. Rock vs Hard Place. I did look at other bio's before doing this one and I have left out tons of info that just isn't noteworthy, like up-and-coming years. These are projects where she was the main contributor or story creator. 4 or 5 credits wouldn't cover the breadth of her work, but I will rework the chart and reinsert, thus not needing an admin. Appreciate the input reddog. Please let me know, before you delete. Can't tell you devastating it is, for me. I truly take what you do to heart. P.S.   • Formatting/Information Question

Reddog, for the list of shows, one example I looked was an animation writer, Laura Faust. [3] However, I REALLY thought you wouldn't like the format as it isn't detailed and suggests that Laura did all of the responsibilities on all of the shows for all of the seasons listed, such as PowerPuff Girls. (I'm going to assume you are not into animation and did not have a toddler during the 1990's or we wouldn't even be having any of these conversations about Dev. So it's ok if you don't understand the importance of Powerpuff Girls, either. Just know, they're huge. Lol~) Would you prefer the info shown this way? I look at info presented for others I researched, such as Dwayne McDuffie, or even Arnold Schwarznegger, and everything is listed. I truly didn't list everything for Ms. Ross, so I think we might need a reconsider on this one. (I could throw in Shakespear and Homer...but that's going a bit too far, right?) I don't want to just repost and you delete as this has been a good working relationship. How about if I take off the "Land Before Time" list, with the Wiki links and we include this one that shows her breadth of writing across various channels and which supports the preceeding paragraph? You also have my promise to continue working on the material, not for "resume" feel, but I will study some of the non-living characters - or any that you suggest - and see what I can do. Hi Sandy, thanks for your kind message on my talkpage. Just a note, stemming from your reply at the Teahouse - whilst learning HTML is a worthwhile endeavour, it's not necessary for editing Wikipedia. Wikipedia uses its own markup language (which has similarities to HTML, but also a number of differences), and although HTML is largely supported here, you might find Wikimarkup an easier language to learn. There's a helppage detailing the commands available here, but for everyday use, the cheatsheet is probably the most useful source of information; it gives you a rundown of all the day-to-day codes you're likely to need.
