Welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron[edit]

WELCOME from a Article Rescue Squad member

Welcome to Article Rescue Squadron Shunpiker, a dynamic list of articles needing to be rescued, which changes with new updates, can be found here:

I look forward to working with you in the future. Ikip (talk) 22:41, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the rescue squadron. I have been around for almost 4 years, and I know most of the terrible bureaucracy here on wikipedia. If you ever have any questions, just consider me your mentoree, and I would be happy to help you. Ikip (talk) 00:51, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your setiments entirely. Please enjoy some wonderful articles about how the media universally feels that deletionsionism is deterimental: Wikipedia:Notability/RFC:Reevaluation#Journalists then enjoy my research, showing that articles for deletion disportionally effect new users: User:Ikip/AfD_on_average_day Ikip (talk) 01:50, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to ARS![edit]

Hi, Shunpiker, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron WikiProject! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles and content that have been nominated for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable, and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles and content to quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again — Welcome! Addbot (talk) 00:01, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Can you please help me finish this article that I started. Thanks. --Mapple001 (talk) 22:49, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GUatemala[edit]

Thats, great. Hopefully more people will become involved with it soon as there is a massive amount missing. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:56, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Harold Sirkin book reviews[edit]

i understand that positive reviews might be taken as puffery, (one was critical "This is not a question contemplated by the authors".) and detract from the article. i have no great like of management consultants and their puffery, i am concerned that blanket statements are made in AfD, that are easily proven false. the quotes prove the sources are not trivial (the next argument), it was probably an over-reaction on my part to:

The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, which has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews. - No evidence

when it only took me five minutes, confirming THF: "The article is a mess, but I question whether anyone did the required search for sources". you could edit them done if you want, but please leave until the AfD is finalized. the article is better sourced than the Tom Peters one, but he was better at marketing? more visible in popular culture - oh and when the verifiable sources do it, it's not NPOV, they could argue synthesis though (except that the sources agree) pohick (talk) 21:16, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cloudbuster merge[edit]

I've started a discussion on Orgone and added the appropriate tags. TBH I think a merger is not without merits and should be discussed, but that merging without discussion is not appropriate. Artw (talk) 18:14, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(replied on User talk:Artw)
Also if Verbal continues reverting, or if other users start reverting on his behalf then taking the matter to AN/I immediately is the best course of action, to prevent any ridiculous silliness of the kind that happened on the Orthomolecular psychiatry‎ merge. Artw (talk) 18:20, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I had not been involved with amy merge.redirect discussions on the talk page, not do I think it was a consensus to do so. Since that "discusion" doid not take place, the information and article should be immediately returned so that a discussion should indeed take place. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 18:27, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(replied on User talk:MichaelQSchmidt)

I very strongly support keeping these articles separate. If you read the deletion discussion, I believe that the people arguing to merge are not addressing the points I raised and the sources that I linked to. People should not be able to bully others into getting their way just through a majority of numbers and unfounded assertions. Cazort (talk) 18:31, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(replied on User talk:Cazort)
Yes, exactly! personally, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in Orgone as I think it is essentially B.S. (although I certainly think it's notable and worth having an article)...whereas I find the Cloudbuster article more interesting, even if it's based on disproven pseudoscience, just because of what it is trying to do. Cazort (talk) 19:32, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Schlund[edit]

The decision to delete the article Dan Schlund is now being reviewed. You have been sent this message because you have previously been involved in the AfD discussion(s) concerning this article. If you are interested in the review discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2009 April 3. Thank you. Esasus (talk) 15:48, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Literacy rate in Template:Infobox Country[edit]

I would fully support a renewal of my proposal to add literacy rate, and I think you do have a very good point to argue. However, other than a few comments here and there I don't think I'll be able to help much in contributing to the argument as I am quite busy these days. I would suggest you make a point on the fact that there are no other indicators of education in the template and also prepare to argue against the range of data in the List of countries by literacy rate page. --Hamster X 18:08, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean about a naming controversy. The source I'm using to build the article about the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner refers to him as Ebenezer, but given the sources that you've cited, I've got no problem if you switch the article back to E.T. Afd Article[edit]

Thanks for your help cleaning up the Nancy Jacobson article. Ultimately, a decision was made to keep the article[1]. However, the person who originally requested deletion (Jeandré du Toit) went ahead and pretty much blanked the page anyway. It looks like someone is pretty determined to remove or whitewash this article, and aside from monitoring it 24/7 for deletion and heavy editing, I'm not sure what else can be done. I've dropped AfD a note too, but still wanted to say thanks here and make you aware of how things turned out. cheers. --Nacl11 (talk) 16:19, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(replied on User talk:Nacl11) -- Shunpiker (talk) 00:12, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, thanks. It was good to find someone who was of similar mind about the content. I'm sort of a beginner here, and it just struck me as odd that admin interventions, AfD committee evaluations, and evidence of bad faith are all basically cast aside once an article is open for editing by the general public. I guess my best plan of action would be to become involved in the 90% of Wikipedia content that is not controversial from here on out. cheers. --Nacl11 (talk) 06:14, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Shunpiker! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 943 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:52, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest[edit]

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
