Google Earth images[edit]

Please don't upload satellite images from Google Earth. They don't qualify as fair use, according to [1] and [2]. Thanks! Carson 06:26, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for additions to SEAL[edit]

Hi, and thanks for contributing to the SEAL page. Thought you might wonder why the page has now disappeared!

For some time, there have been two disambiguation pages, one called SEAL and the other called Seal. This seemed ridiculous, so I suggested in July on the SEAL talk page that the two should be merged. Since nobody objected, I have done it. The content from SEAL has been merged into Seal, and SEAL now redirects straight to Seal.

Satelite images for use on WP - try World Wind...[edit]

Hi, Shaq 1k. Noticed you tried using Google Earth images on WP and found that you're not allowed! You might like to look at World Wind - a free piece of software that uses NASA imagery that can be used on WP. You can download it from the SourceForge site and produce some amazing images. (for example, take a look at the image on Chesil Beach)

Hope that helps :) - 20.133.0.14 09:16, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I just deleted File:VPL Card Back.jpg as the image you uploaded had your library number blanked out, but the barcode was still visible. I gather that by blanking out your library number, you didn't want people to know it, but it could be easily reconstructed with the barcode. I'll keep a copy of the image on my computer for 7 days in the event you want the image reinstated. Cheers! --Brad Beattie (talk) 21:53, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Windows Live Mail Beta (basic version).jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Windows Live Mail Beta (basic version).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
