{{help me}} I have a photo of the Federal Courthouse in Natchez, Mississippi as it was before
it was stablized by the Historic Natchez Foundation and taken over by the GSA. It also shows the 1924 monument plates, or rather where they were before conservation work was done on the four name plates [two others were removed]. What process do I engage to do this? Can I do this? I am willing to give up ownership of the photo.

We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Thanks for uploading File:Good and Faithful Labor- From Slavery to Sharecropping in The Natchez District 1860-1890.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

{{help me}}I am new to Wki and have tried to change the copywrite text to conform to format but the change does not seem to show in the file. The page this will be used in has not been created yet. It will be a book page. please advise.

- I would refer you to Wikipedia:Notability (books)#Criteria. If it is not likely that an article on the book itself would survive a challenge to notability, then you should not invest any time in writing it. Generally, it is a better practice to write the article on a topic before uploading images intended to be included in that article. Cheers! bd2412 T 14:55, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- the image needs to be in what is called the "user space" (Wikipedia:User pages) - i.e. your sandbox area - and not in the "article space" (Wikipedia:Project namespace). Non-free images are allowed only in the article space, and there is a bot that trolls through the other spaces (user, template, category, talk, etc. list is at Wikipedia:Namespace) and removes all of the non-free images. Any image not used in the article space is considered 'orphaned' and you have a 7-day grace period to get the draft article moved from the user space into the article space (and put the images back on it there). Even after that 7-day period and the image is deleted, almost all images are still available to any admin/sysop, and you can ask any one of us to restore the image for use in the article space - or ask at WP:Requests for undeletion. As noted above, you can create a Sandbox at User:Shane505/Good and Faithful Labor- From Slavery to Sharecropping in The Natchez District 1860-1890 and then ask someone over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wikipedia-Books for an evaluation thereof. Hi Shane505- Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm really interested in your findings and work about the memorial at the Natchez Institute/Memorial Hall/CT. How did you decide to do research in that area? Is your thesis online? Congratulations again on your work! How satisfying to know you are getting this historic wrong righted. I used to work at GSA and much enjoyed working with local communities on our projects. Recently I've been taking my interest in history to Wikipedia (it has an audience) and working on correcting and updating the histories of American peoples - trying to get the best academic work reflected in articles here, especially on minorities and women.
