December 2016[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Brandon Webb (author), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Meters (talk) 22:55, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the info. Source added. How do you recommend I source the change in birthday? It is not likely to be a source of challenge and I did correspond with Webb directly on it. Is saying as much sufficient? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sean Spoonts (talkcontribs) 23:02, December 5, 2016 (UTC)

What are you talking about? You have not added any sources to the article. And no, as I said on my talk page, you saying that you talked to him is not acceptable. The information has to be verifiable. We have no way of knowing who you are, if you have actually spoken to him, or for that matter, if he told the truth if you did speak to him. Meters (talk) 23:27, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Would you have any interest in assisting me in make those corrections accurate and sourced? I could learn from you.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm going to clean up the article but you may not be be happy with what I'll do to it. The sourcing is bad, and the list of articles is questionable, to start. Meters (talk) 06:22, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Sean Spoonts. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Brandon Webb (author)‎, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Also, your promotional writing is disgusting. Please read WP:NPOV and try writing as a disinterested professional. Chris Troutman (talk) 01:33, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

([Chris troutman]) What does this mean? "Also, your promotional writing is disgusting." There was a partial list of works by Webb, all I did was complete it with more information. Who did the partial list and why isn't it also disgusting? I made a factual and sourced correction that Jack Murphy is now Editor in Chief of sofrep, not Webb. The old entry dates to 2009? I added that Webb is CEO of Hurricane Group and added it's subsidiaries. This corrected an inaccuracy that he was just CEO of Crate Club. I have no disclosure to make about compensation for doing any editing on this page. Because I do not receive any, not will I ever. I read an understand the COI rules, but I didn't create the page. I just corrected inaccurate and incomplete information. What COI exists in doing that? I don't think I broke any wiki rules or policies. Sean Spoonts (talk) 02:10, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
