As far as reffing - to diversify and also make it look more reputable if website X clearly got a fact from book Y, then (eg range of King vulture) I'll get the books details for the ref. Some reviewers at FAC get a bit dismayed and vote accordingly if all refs at bottom are web ones. It now has a shiny new range map! I downloaded some photoshop software and spent the afternoon figuring it out, so now I can make range maps, as long as they're relatively simple. You're very welcome! To make it, I took a blank world map[2] from Wikimedia Commons, then used a photo editing program to color it in. I used Ultimate Paint, which is downloadable for free[3], but other programs probably work just as well. Greater Yellow-headed Vulture

I've been working on the Greater Yellow-headed Vulture article, and I can't seem to find any references that mention number of eggs laid, age of sexual maturity, courtship displays, or anything of that nature. I was wondering if there are any sources that you've seen while writing the other New World Vultures articles that talk about general reproduction characteristics for either Cathartes or Cathartidae. I thought that these could be used if there are absolutely no reference to be found for the Greater Yellow-headed Vulture specifically (which may be the case). My local library doesn't have a copy of that book (unfortunately). I expanded the lead of Greater Yellow-headed Vulture, but I think that otherwise I've gotten as far as I can with the references I have available. I've already looked for photos at Flickr, where there are photos, but none with a usable license, and there for photos taken by government employees(which would be free license), but haven't found anything. Do you think a photo is absolutely necessary for GA, since it appears that there are not free-licensed images of the Greater Yellow-headed Vulture? Obviously, it would be infinitely preferable to have an image, but the GA criteria says that "The presence of images is not, in itself, a requirement for Good articles." I haven't seen anything about GY-hVs in culture, zoos, or anything of the kind. There's really not a lot of information on them out there; I can't even find a source that gives a weight for them. As far as the King Vulture article, it looks pretty good. I'll add anything that my bird encyclopedia has on it (the only bird book I own), and check for typos and so forth. New World Vultures

The Greater Yellow-headed Vulture just passed GA. That was surprisingly fast! I just filled out the Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture article a bit more; it's very much like the GY-h V article, and about the same length now. I'll let it sit a day or two so that it'll be "stable", then nominate it for GA as well. --heyjude. 19:46, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

A lot of the information on the LY-h V is applicable either to New World Vultures in general (taxonomy, the lack of septum, lack of syrinx -most of the physiology), or to Cathartes (the ability to smell decaying flesh, the eyelashes). I'll run through it and make sure that I didn't copy-paste anything that only applies to the GY-h V, though. I think the Turkey Vulture article is nearly ready for FA; I still have to get around to locating descriptions on the subspecies, though. We're making a lot of progress! Hi R-cS - saw you'd reverted an addition by User:Miriamelise, and posted a warning on their talk page; right on the reverting, as the addition didn't add anything new to the article, but it wasn't vandalism, just a newbie not really knowing well what to do. Cathartes melambrotus

One in flight image, hope it captures the id features. I am unable to find a closeup image of the head which I would like for the sitting illustration. I am not able to find high quality image to do comparisons of the two species and their wing tip versus tail positions to produce identification quality illustrations. Hi Rufous, hope you are enjoying your break. I wanted to leave a note now (so I don't forget later!) that even if the Javan Rhino FAC has closed when you get back I'd still love to have your input on it for two reasons. 1) No article is ever finished, and so I'm always happy to work on improvements and 2) I want to have a good framework in place for working on other rhinos. Barn Swallow

I wasn't aware there's a second print associated with the Philmont one, odd that it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere... are you sure it's from the same animal as the first? What's next?

Thanks again for the helpful review. I think I am going to keep working on rhinoceros articles :) I've got a pretty good knowledge base now, so the next ones will be easier going I hope. Takes a lot of work to get up to speed on any type of article. Debating between Black Rhinoceros and Indian Rhinoceros... might have to flip a coin. It's funny... animals aren't a huge interest in real life, but I've gotten into a rhythm on wiki with 'em. I don't have a problem with COI, I don't think anyone checking our GA reviews could spot anything too cosy about my review of the shiner article. I did think of doing the shelduck, but since it's short, I thought it would soon get picked up anyway. I've already got two reviews on the go.
