Jakkasandra Nanjappa, I don't think this page is likely to be deleted. What is needed are more references, if they can be found. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 12:31, 2 February 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC has closed with a consensus that candidates at WP:RFA must disclose whether they have ever edited for pay and that administrators may never use administrative tools as part of any paid editing activity, except when they are acting as a Wikipedian-in-Residence or when the payment is made by the Wikimedia Foundation or an affiliate of the WMF.
  • Editors responding to threats of harm can now contact the Wikimedia Foundation's emergency address by using Special:EmailUser/Emergency. If you don't have email enabled on Wikipedia, directly contacting the emergency address using your own email client remains an option.

Technical news

  • A tag will now be automatically applied to edits that blank a page, turn a page into a redirect, remove/replace almost all content in a page, undo an edit, or rollback an edit. These edits were previously denoted solely by automatic edit summaries.

Template:Handbook of Texas[edit]

Hello, Rich, I noticed your expertise in template editing at the history of Template:Handbook of Texas.

Like the Handbook of Texas, the online Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture contains a wealth of information. At the Arkansas database, just the entry ID appears to vary. Examples: [1][2]

Would you kindly make me a similar template at Template:Encyclopedia of Arkansas History? I would begin immediately to write up history sections on hundreds of underrepresented Arkansas communities. Regards– Gilliam (talk) 08:31, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK, item 7682, Charles William Adams (1817–1878) can be cited as
{{Encyclopedia of Arkansas History|name=Charles William Adams (1817–1878)|id=7682|author=David Sesser|date=2017-02-25|retrieved=11 February 2018}}
Which will render as
David Sesser: Charles William Adams (1817–1878) from the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture (2017-02-25). Retrieved 11 February 2018.

Thanks for your help! The new template will save me a lot of tedious typing.– Gilliam (talk) 02:31, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Underhill, Ruth[edit]

Hi, I've no idea what you were trying to do here. What was wrong with simply

#REDIRECT [[Ruth Underhill]]

? — Smjg (talk) 14:32, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I was creating a template to perform the function. It is now at {{Qso}}. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 17:17, 13 February 2018 (UTC).[reply]

de-CH[edit]

Hi,

I noticed that you created the pages Template:ISO 639 name de-CH and Category:Articles containing Swiss German-language text, mentioning that they are for articles in the Swiss German language. However, de-CH is the language code for Swiss Standard German, not Swiss German (which instead uses the ISO 639 code “gsw”).

How hard or easy would that be to fix?

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spidermario (talkcontribs) 15:03, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It would have been easy for me, but the template has been re-written. @Trappist the Monk: may be able to help, before I can look at it in detail. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 17:30, 13 February 2018 (UTC).[reply]

As I write this, you are the only editor to have edited {{ISO 639 name de-CH}} and the only editor to have edited Category:Articles containing Swiss German-language text so the claim that the template has been re-written does not appear to be unsupportable. This, then, leaves me wondering why I have been pinged into this conversation?
Trappist the monk (talk) 22:58, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am talking about {{Lang}}, which was the prime purpose of the ISO 639 name family of templates. The re-write is very impressive, though I'm not sure it is as extensible, small, fast or simple. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 23:03, 25 February 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Cohort (biology) listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Cohort (biology). Since you had some involvement with the Cohort (biology) redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. MB 14:28, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Underlinked[edit]

Hello, please explain how many links are needed. In the article Stelis, there are six links in the taxobox, family, class, etc. And then there is the List of Stelis species that links to 100 pages, most of them not even created yet. And then, other articles such as Listronotus distinctus have six links in the taxobox. Such an obscure species is unlikely to have more links than those. Of course, it would be possible to add subclass, suborder, subfamily, etc. with their respective links but this is not desirable for other reasons. If Listronotus distinctus needs more links, then most species and genus pages would be labeled as such. Are you sure that such articles need more links? Please explain to me what is going on. --Polinizador (talk) 18:56, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have provided three more (useful) links to the article. I'm not sure that such articles in general need more links though. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 19:21, 21 February 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Plagiarism[edit]

Please make sure that you don't plagiarize texts (even public domain texts) like you did in Amelia Irwin. I have redirected the article to that of her husband to remove the problem and because she (and some other California first ladies) are not independently notable and don't warrant a separate article. Some of the other articles, while at first glance not copying directly, are using rather close paraphrasing as well. Fram (talk) 09:38, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Of course this was not plagiarism, as the source was comprehensively cited. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 16:38, 4 June 2018 (UTC).[reply]
