FLYING TIGERS: SHADOWS OVER CHINA

Greetings, Mr. Rhain1999!

Would you consider creating an article for historical air-combat action game FLYING TIGERS: SHADOWS OVER CHINA which is currently available on Steam Early Access? If you go to Steam and type FLYING in the landing page search field, you'll get right to it.

Please advise, and here's to a lovely 2016!

Many thanks,

LarDeSon

@LarDeSon, you left me the same message and I responded on my talk page. czar 01:11, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Her Story

Oh shoot man. Nice writeup on Her Story. Noticed you got a lot of pictures from Sam Barlow. Thought about taking one of them to Featured Pictures? GamerPro64 03:20, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

@GamerPro64: Thanks! Yeah, Sam was really nice about it; he sent the pictures so quickly, no questions asked. I was considering nominating one for Featured Picture, but I'm not too familiar with the process, so I'm unsure about which one to nominate (since he was nice enough to provide seven screenshots). If no-one else nominates one of them, I'm sure I'll make a decision soon enough. Of course, I'd be interested to know your opinion. – Rhain☔1999 (talk to me) 03:39, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
First I recommend looking at Wikipedia:Featured picture criteria for future reference. Second, I might say File:Her Story screenshot 04.jpg has a chance. Feels the least cluttered. GamerPro64 03:51, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
I'll definitely take a look at the criteria. I appreciate the advice! – Rhain☔1999 (talk to me) 06:30, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Really great job with this article! It's one I'd been thinking deserved a better write up than it had so pleased to see it looking great, especially with the pictures! Sam Walton (talk) 16:12, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, Samwalton9! I appreciate your kind words. I enjoyed playing the game, and figured it would be a fun and interesting article to work on. I'm pleased with how it turned out; I didn't think I'd find that much development information on the game, but Sam Barlow gave more interviews than I expected. I'm glad he replied to my emails about the images too, since I think they add a lot to the article. Now I'm just waiting for the OTRS volunteers at Wikimedia to confirm the tickets... – Rhain☔1999 (talk to me) 16:26, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Barlow gave you sources for the article? Strange. GamerPro64 20:13, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
I think he meant he was surprised how many interviews Sam Barlow took part in with journalists. Sam Walton (talk) 20:20, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Ah. That makes more sense. GamerPro64 21:10, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

DYK nominations

Hi, I'd like to submit a DYK nomination for the article about "Survival Island 3". It was created 3 days ago so it's under the 7 day period. I'd like to know if my ideas would pass:
First one: ...that in the video game Survival Island 3, the player was tasked with killing Australian Aborigines?
Second one: ...that the video game named Survival Island 3 was taken off the iOS App Store and Google Play because the gameplay involved killing Australian Aborigines?

If they're good, please run me down on how to nominate them. Anarchyte 11:21, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

@Anarchyte: I think both of those hooks work fairly well, and have a decent chance of passing if submitted for DYK (if not, a reviewer would likely recommend changes). Personally, I think there are a number of problems with the article (no information on gameplay outside of the lead, no screenshot or art, no infobox, no links from other pages), but I don't think it's enough to result in a failed DYK (though I recommend you look into those problems pronto, ideally before submission). To submit the article for DYK, go to T:TDYK#Instructions for nominators and follow the process there. If you need any more help, don't hesitate to ask. – Rhain☔1999 (talk to me) 11:35, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
@Rhain1999: Did I do it right? Template:Did you know nominations/Survival Island 3. Anarchyte 12:02, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
@Anarchyte: Looks good to me. Keep in mind that, after submitting five articles for DYK, you will be required to review other DYK nominations before submitting any more, per WP:QPQ. You're all good for now, though. – Rhain☔1999 (talk to me) 13:05, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi

As an Israeli I tell you - The game is censored here; It also distributed in a censored version in Germany. I am not kidding. Ben-Yeudith (talk) 14:16, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

@Ben-Yeudith: I believe you—in fact, I've read a few things about the game's censorship in Germany (there's actually a bit of information about it in the Development section). The reason I reverted your edit was simply because you did not provide a reliable source. I'm also not sure that the information is notable enough for inclusion within the article, nor do I believe it fits in the Sales section. – Rhain 14:24, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Well, I could supply some sources for that; Anyway I personally think the sales chapter is the best: When I couldn't buy the game on steam I was very disappointed - For me it's a matter of sales; Off course, no one has to agree. Ben-Yeudith (talk) 15:55, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Rockstar Games

Hi I'm new to wikipedia and I'd like to know why you deleted my edit — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spinninq (talkcontribs) 22:10, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

@Spinninq: Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I reverted your edit as it appeared to contain original research ("Rockstar didn't want to announce it to the public because the game was selling well"—this is not stated in the source). Also, Leslie Benzies was actually president and producer at Rockstar North, so I figured it would make more sense to keep the information exclusively on that article instead of Rockstar Games, although I'm fairly apathetic in this regard. – Rhain 22:36, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Please avoid changing "Trump" to "Drumpf"

Hi Rhain. In one of your recent edits, you changed the word "Trump" to "Drumpf". I assume that this was unintentional and caused by having the Drumpfinator extension enabled. To avoid this kind of mistake in the future, please disable the extension before editing articles that mention Trump. Thank you. —Granger (talk · contribs) 19:29, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

You may want to take a look at the Manhunt (video game) article

Noticed this article while reverting vandalism using STiki. I was unable to determine whether the bunch of IP edits were vandalism or not, but when comparing the version promoted to GA status and the latest revision, quite a lot of the article has been changed, especially the plot sections, which included mentions of phrases like "perverted pedophiles". As the editor who brought this article to GA status, you may want to take a look at that article to see if anything needs to be maintained, edited, or reverted. Thanks, SSTflyer 04:24, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, SSTflyer. I'm going to go through and clean-up the article shortly, but I never actually played Manhunt (I only responded to the GA review because it had been idle for a week with no response) so I'm unsure if the changes to the plot section are correct or not. I'll see what I can do. – Rhain 23:39, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Removal of {{Video game release}} tag

As I witnessed on Wolfenstein: The New Order, you repeatedly remove the {{Video game release|WW=}} around the release date, marking it as "unnecessary". According to the Infobox template documentation, this tag shall be used. The template is to indicate that game released digitally aka. worldwide, even if it, at least for you, appears as such also without it. I'd therefore kindly ask you to re-add the template for me not needing to revert you. Thanks, Lordtobi () 10:10, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Rob Wiethoff.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Rob Wiethoff.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Closedmouth (talk) 12:42, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Confusion

Hello, I'm new to Wikipedia and have only some made small edits to certain articles. I figure in this talk section can ask you a question. So, on the Wikipedia page for the original Grand Theft Auto game, the word "installment" was spelled wrongly. It was spelled like so: instalment. I decided to fix as you can see on the edit history. You decided to remove it from some reason I can not understand. So I asks, why did you rid of my change? Is there something I did wrong? Thank you. (I hope am sending this to the right place)

Sirfranky44 (talk) 21:19, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

@Sirfranky44: This is the right place—you're always welcome to leave civil messages on user talk pages, but the article talk page is also appropriate if you're looking for a more open response from other users. The Grand Theft Auto article, as can be seen on the page notice whilst editing, is written in British English (DMA Design was a British developer); while the word is written as "installment" in American English, it is spelled as "instalment" in British (as explained here). It wasn't a massive issue on the article, but the differing forms of English is certainly something to be aware of while editing Wikipedia. Thanks for the message. – Rhain 21:31, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
