Michael Madhusudan Datta

Ragib, Madhusudan used "Dutta" as his last name. I had some books by him back in India containing photographs of his letters; in his letters he always signed his name as Michael Madhusudan Dutta. Please see this one. This book is being sold as a translation of his work and hence the correct spelling. Dutt has been tipically used in books that are commentaries on his life. So I believe changing his last name to Dutta will be proper.

Also, the painting by Atul Bose is in PD in India because it was unvailed before 1947. I know that he died in 1977 but I dont think there is any harm to upload a photograph of Indian PD art that is in India.

Let me know what you think.Sumanch (talk) 20:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for clarifying the issue with image. I had the Madhusudan Rachnabali either by Dey's Publisher or Ananda and it had photo plates of his letters with his signature. Sumanch (talk) 20:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:Provenance]] to articles/subcategories that belong in it.

I blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.

If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with {{db-author}}.

Commenting out image licenses

I recently undid the commenting out of the license you did on that image. I suggest leaving the licenses on images if they are disputed until the discussion is done. I was about to tag the image as no license speedy delete. This would have been a mistake on my part because there was a license. It was just commented out. Leaving the license there while discussing the image could help with the discussion as well.--Rockfang (talk) 19:06, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Why r u undoing the edits on Chowdhury Moyezuddin?

Hello Mr Ragib, Why are you undoing my edit. I have added a lot more information and altered a few ones that were not fully accurate. I have been researching on the life of Chowdhury Moyezuddin Bishwash for last 20 years. I am his great grandson. I appreciate your effort in putting up a lot of information about him and I am grateful to you for that, but I hope you will not prevent me from augmenting to that information. None of what I have said directly contradicts with any of the information that existed previously. So why the edit warfare?

Thanks Quaseed. User name: Shottobadi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shottobadi (talkcontribs) 09:15, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I am thoroughly convinced that your removal of the Taj Mahal pictures are purely whimsical. And from your repeatedly offensive tone, it's very obvious that your removal of the Taj Mahal pictures, are out of pure bias. I have no business interests in posting the picture of the Taj Mahal replica. I have no affiliation with that place. While I may not be able to prove that to you, you too have no way of proving that you are not affiliated with an organization that is against the Taj Mahal replica in Bangladesh.

Could you please outline the criteria that you use to determine how you identify images as relevant or not. I find it very unfair that you can remove relevant images on a whim.

Could you also make it clear why the image of Bashundhara City is considered relevant? How is a mall relevant whereas a tourist attraction is not? I could argue that the picture of Bashundhara City is put up purely for marketing interests. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smsshafi (talkcontribs) 19:21, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Stop removing Taj Mahal picture from Bangladesh page

Please stop removing pictures of Taj Mahal from the Bangladesh page. Firstly, the Taj Mahal in Bangladesh is not "fake" as you have so rudely put it. The politically correct term for it is a "replica". I never claimed that the Taj Mahal in Bangladesh was real. Please leave your political/personal biases out of Wikipedia and let us provide users with a bias-free source of information. Secondly, I don't believe you have a valid point when you say that the "fake" Taj Mahal picture is irrelevant and adds no value to the Bangladesh page. I believe it does. Even though you may consider it a "fake", it is nonetheless a landmark in Bangladesh, and probably one of it's most visited tourist destinations. I don't see how a picture of a shopping mall (Bashundhara City) is relevant to the article, while one of Bangladesh's newest and most popular landmarks, the Taj Mahal replica is not. Thirdly, I'm new to Wikipedia, so I am not sure what options I have to communicate with you and I hope this is the correct place to post messages directed at you.

Reply to your response.

Thank you MrRagib for your response. I would like to know, if you are working for Wikipedia, formally or not? Because it sounds like you hold a position of authority. Anyway, I have some things to tell you.

1. How do you cite references of materials which are not on the web? Meaning that if I have taken information from printed books from many years ago, of which no online material exists, then how am I to provide reference of that, as most references here seem to be of texts which have some online link.

2. If you have put up some information from some published source which is mistaken, then it is my duty to correct the information. Example the year of death of Lal Mia. You keep on writing it as 1969. Whereas it is 1967. For God's sake we observed his 42md death anniversary just a week back. So, these are things you have to rectify.

3. Also, none of what I gave is cut paste. It is written by me, translated from different works printed about them. There is a biography of Chowdhury Moyezuddin published by Faridpur Press Club in 3 of the local papers. Also in the book Oitijjo Lalito Faridpur, there is a chapter on him. So how do I give references of those. All these things are written there as well in Bangla. So that can be reference for you.

4. Also, I myself had written a 40,000 word biography on Chowdhury Moyezuddin which got published in 19 installments in the Independant weekend magazine and paper as well, across the year 2004. I don'tthink the internet link of those arestill up. How do I give reference of that?

5. There are Bangla booklets on Lal Mia. How do I give reference of that?

Please give your answers to my above points. If needed we can meet to discuss these issues.

Also, please understand that it is your responsibility to provide correct information. And when you have as authentic a source as a direct family member, yu need to at least evaluate the information rather than just keep on undoing whatever I have provided simply out of a matter of ego.

Thanks and regards... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shottobadi (talkcontribs) 07:33, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry

Yeah, it should be Sena (moth), but I have been trying to find a way so it doesn't over write articles, and it is flagged. Bugboy52.4 (talk) 22:17, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

I have started working on it, but haven't been able to contribute much. My research time currently is a bit limited I am afraid. In the mean time work must keep rolling, otherwise someone would close the debate soon. Can you, please, address the image issues raised at the FAR? Aditya(talkcontribs) 17:21, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

On Chowdhury Moyezuddin and his sons...

Dear Mr Ragib:

Thanks for your reply. However, you need to rectify some information, which even in the sources you are quoting, are mistaken. For example, the year of death of my Dada, Lal Mia. You keep on putting it as 1969, but it was 1967, 7th April. Now, what rules are there which force you to keep on using a mistaken data, even when you have authentic information that it is mistaken.

Also, I am very interested to know about the sources you used for the article you give on Chowdhury Moyezuddin. I have spent a good 20 years, as a hobby researching and collecting information about him and peicing it together. Much of what you wrote is in fact totally in agreement with what I have written in a more elaborate form. Only that my version has more details to the things in your version. I would be very happy to know what sources you have used for this piece. There are a few things which are slightly off the mark though. The most important one being that the estate of 4000 sq km that Moyezuddin had, was in fact totally built up by himself, as he seperated himself from his family at the age of 15 in 1855. And his being a self made tycoon at that time, while remaining an anti colonial person, is one of the greatest attributes of his and also one of his most significant acheivements. Also, he was mainly the Murid of Hazrat Keramat Ali of Jaunpur.

Also, I am interested to know, how the sources I have described, which include local publications of faridpur by noted journalists of Faridpur, appear to be controversial as compared to sources currently used.

Also, though you may feel that the version I am using is a cut-paste from somewhere, I am assuring you that it is not. So, why do you still keep on insisting that it is? If it is, then can you find another website that contains the same text? I am sure you would not be able to, as its not there. Why do you find it so hard to beleive that it may have been self composed? And yet you feel it has a personal touch, which in fact supports the idea of it being self composed. So, is that not contradictory in your stance.

Anyway, even if the references are not up to your ideal standards, I would request you to consider correcting some of the obviously incorrect information, to increase your own reliability among readers who know about this subject at least, and also, would request you to help modify the tone of the writing to any tone you please, as long as it includes some more of the information that I have presented in my versions. Given the amount of research I have done, it is unlikely that there is any major information in my versions that is flawed or which is missing in my version but present elsewhere.

Thanks and regards

Khan deletions

Hello, is it possible that Enayat Khan and Imdad Khan were similarly copied to the Hungarian site by Wikipedia? Vilayat Khan was actually speedily deleted this afternoon without any discussion. Badagnani (talk) 02:47, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I think that is the case. Restored the deleted content. --Ragib (talk) 06:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

When prodding

Just a friendly reminder to use an edit summary when proposing deletion for an article. Edit summary usage is always good, but it is especially important that edit summaries are used when proposing deletion. The reason for this is that articles proposed for deletion that later have the {{prod}} tag removed should not be proposed for deletion again, but rather sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. The only easy way to check if an article was previously proposed for deletion is to look at the edit history and the edit summaries people have left before. Thanks! The article in question was Bijon B Sarma, the edit summary read nn. Cheers, Hiding T 18:41, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

The deletion of the above article was contested, and so it has been restored per process. As the nominator of the article for the prod process, this is a courtesy call. The person requesting the restoration was User:Wikibd. Hiding T 13:11, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I just went through your brief bio-data at your own Urbana web-site. It is more impressive than the level of your English. It is a pity that living in the USA has not helped all that much. This, alas, is a common feature of all Bangladeshi students getting married to Bangladeshi girls before completing their education.

You are consistently deleting the last part (as well referenced as most wiki articles) of Sajeeb Wazed's wiki page that I am trying to re-insert. Before you call it 'nonsense', please be good enough to point out how it is possible to introduce that big one-sided eulogy that now exists. It mentions organizations about which google searches come out with naught. You must be aware that millions of expat Bangladeshis have contributed more significantly.

The fact that you are involved with wiki administration and still persist in giving protection to this spoiled young man (take my word for it, I know him sufficiently well) is disappointing, and if you are not careful, you may yourself become an unwitting instrument in a grand vile design involving the future of Bangladesh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.112.196.90 (talk) 15:27, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

You have steadfastly refused to show any good reason why the referenced lines of great importance I have added to Joy's page are any more 'nonsensical' than the unreferenced claims of little significance allowed to adorn his page.

You might consider removing your BUET record from your Urbana website. It is embarrassing, because if people see that BUET gives Chancellor's Award to students lacking any ability to see reason, they may form a low opinion of the great institution. And you are not an ordinary user protected by wiki guidelines, but an Administrator, with responsibility that you seem reluctant or unable to discharge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.112.196.90 (talk) 19:14, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
