It seems that this is intended to mean that a source was provided in another article to which there was a wikilink. However, it is not realistic to expect everyone to check every link to any other articles to find if there are sources cited somewhere or other. This could be a very large task in many cases, and also it would frequently involve a considerable amount of waste of time, as many links followed would be to articles which did not contain relevant citations.
