Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Provomusic", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Hello Mori Calliope fan! I haven't had any issues before. I think the current issue is that my username is triggering a filter whenever a citation links to ProvoMusicMagazine.com. I'm a local music fan/enthusiast (hence the username), but not a representative of that publication. Do you recommend I change my username, create a new account, or continue as is? This is kind of a strange development. Provomusic (talk) 04:14, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Even if you are not affiliated with the publication, I would still recommend changing your username, because it can make users think that your account represents it. Since you have made constructive edits on this account, I would recommend changing your username over creating a new account. Mori Calliope fan talk 04:18, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Rats. haha. CURSE YOU, PROVO MUSIC MAG. :D I'll fill out the GlobalRenameRequest form. Thank you for understanding! Provomusic (talk) 04:21, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

October 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Lourdes 06:18, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
