Welcome![edit]

Welcome!

Hello Premier Shawn, and welcome to Wikipedia! My user name is Avenged Eightfold, and I have been on Wikipedia for about 1½ years. I noticed some of your contributions, and would like to tell you that you're off to a great start. If you need any help whatsoever or have questions about the website, please feel free to leave me a message at my talk page. Here's some things I suggest you read or get involved with during your time here.

Remember, if you need any help at all, just leave me a message on my talk page. Expect a quick response, usually within a day. Enjoy your time here, and happy editing!

Cheers,
- A8x (talk)

Re:Administrators[edit]

Administrators are key people on Wikipedia. They can delete pages, block users, protect pages from editing, and several other things. To try to become an administrator, you must submit your name to the Requests for Adminship page, where users will either support and oppose your bid. I would strongly recommend at least six months of editing and 6,000+ edits before even considering putting in a request for adminship, as candidates do not pass by very easily and are heavily scrutinized. You should also probably get involved with things like articles for deletion and vandalism patrol to gain more experience in admin-related areas.

If you want to read more, take a look at the Wikipedia guidelines for administrators or the guide to requests for adminship.

Happy editing, A8x (talk) 02:05, 22 July 2010

Talk:Famous Americans[edit]

I have reverted your use of the PROD template at Talk:Famous Americans. Since you are a new editor, you may not be familiar with the use of the PROD template. The PROD template is only used on articles, and is placed at the TOP of the article page, not at the BOTTOM of the talk page. If you find a talk page offensive, you can use the DB template for quick deletion, or expect that an article will be deleted along with the article. In addition, you can't PROD something that's up for AFD...however, you can comment on the existing AFD here. Purplebackpack89 16:19, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Graphics[edit]

As in graphics, do you mean images or something else? A8x (talk) 21:33, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, those are called userboxes. You can find them here. See "gallery" for a list of them. A8x (talk) 02:36, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You put Template:editprotected on Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship, but Wikipedia:Requests for adminship is a semiprotected page, not a fully protected page, and I couldn't find your comments on what you wanted to edit.

As a new user, I assume you don't yet have the ability to edit semiprotected pages. You will soon automatically, as you edit more and more time passes since you created your account.

If you want to call a confirmed user's attention to an edit you'd like to make on a semiprotected (not fully protected) page, use Template:editsemiprotected by adding {{editsemiprotected}} in a new or existing section on the talk page of the page you want to have edited, and then below it, a specific description of the changes you'd like made. If you have any questions, let me know. Bsherr (talk) 04:23, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

July 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to User:Pilif12p, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Blocked as a sock puppet[edit]

You have been blocked indefinitely as a sock puppet. (blocked by –MuZemike 03:29, 26 July 2010 (UTC))[reply]
You may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but please read our guide to appealing blocks first.
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. First of all, what is sock puppetry. And anyway, I am applying for adminship and I know that my record has to be clean, and that is why it is. I have only vandalized one time, and realize that that was a mistake. I did that vandalism out of anger. I did not perform sock puppetry and would like this block reversed.

Decline reason:

Your arguments don't seem to have convinced anyone that you are not a sock. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:03, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You can read about sockpuppetry at WP:Sock puppetry. But as for why you've been charged with being one, I honestly am not sure. I don't see any behavioral evidence myself. I suppose maybe if there was Checkuser confirmation, but the template on your userpage doesn't seem to indicate there was. I'm going to put this unblock request on hold and bounce a notification to the blocking admin to see if he can shed any light on this. Maybe I'm an idiot and I'm just overlooking some blazingly obvious thing, or maybe there's been some kind of mistake. I really don't know. - Vianello (Talk) 04:03, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Refer to Chairman Shawn, by the way. --Bsadowski1 04:56, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Who exactly is that?Pr€mi€r~$h@wn (talk) 05:03, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Someone with an uncannily - improbably even, I'd say - similar username, signature style, and userpage-writing style. Now I begin to understand. - Vianello (Talk) 21:15, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I still do not know who that is. Shawn is a relatively common name. And as for the signature and writing style, that is an odd coincidence.Pr€mi€r~$h@wn (talk) 21:23, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Very odd. Not to mention the use of title as prefix. - Vianello (Talk) 21:41, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I find putting a title somewhat prestigious.Pr€mi€r~$h@wn (talk) 22:49, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Beeblebrox has no idea what he is talking about. I am not a sock puppet. Obviously, my argument did not convince him. He obviously is biased.

Decline reason:

Blaming someone else (in this case, Beeblebrox) will not get your block lifted. Reviewing your contributions, user name, signature, etc., it is obvious you are the same as Chairman Shawn, who is the same as America is the best. TNXMan 20:20, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He's not the only one unconvinced, believe me. - Vianello (Talk) 21:24, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
