Emulated releases

Hi, like you might have seen in my edit comment at Persona 2: Innocent Sin, the current consensus (as documented in Template:Infobox video game) is to not list emulated releases in video game infoboxes - only platforms the game was developed for or specifically ported to. So that means Persona 2 would only list PlayStation and PlayStation Portable, and Pokémon Gold and Silver would only list Game Boy Color. Please discuss it on WT:WPVG and get consensus for it before implemening a big change like this that affects a lot of articles.--IDV^talk 11:36, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Odallus: The Dark Call

The game has been ported to the PS4 and Switch, so there's more news coverage and likely reviews of the game. I added two reviews for the game, one by M! Games, and one by Italian The Games Machine (print). I don't care enough about the game to truly expand it past that, but the page is out of date. The TGM article is pretty in depth, at two pages. Help needed/Question

Maybe a bit early but Given List of highest-grossing video game franchises is about to be deleted. I need help removing it from every Wikipedia article and template. Timur9008 (talk) 16:55, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

I'm currently trying to clean up the utter nightmare of a mess that is List of highest-grossing media franchises. Some of that has involved going to other Wiki pages (which the media franchises page uses as sources) to delete dubious numbers, which have been added seemingly everywhere. Title of film

I am a new Wikipedia contributor and have a question related to the title of the film. An user has created a talk page Talk: Sign Gene arguing that per the policy of WP:COMMONNAME shall be short as it is. While checking secondary and primary sources, I've come to realize that the original creators had intended calling it Sign Gene: The First Deaf Superheroes but secondary sources are split in two parts, one which just say the completed one and others the short one. Personally I find the complete title more appropriate as per the policy of WP:V, WP:NOR WP:NPOV and as an introductory film, it gives us a clear idea what the film is about. Good work. The one thing that gives me pause here is that many of the figures seem to be added up from disparate sources, so one cannot know for sure that figures are not being double-counted, or that figures are not mixing unofficial estimates with hard data. I know this is from a while ago (2018). When you added added these categories, you didn't provide a reference for the music composer (I did not check the other categories you added). Can you please add a reliable source? If there is not reliable source, the work you have done may be deleted. I tagged the article in the meantime. Hi, thanks for the question; at that point (and this was several years ago now), I was adding those composer categories based on the credits for each game. Jeff van Dyck is listed as the composer in the credits for AFL '99 here. I am not sure if this is sufficient to verify the category, and this is the same reason I stopped adding them; at the time, I operated under the assumption that a game itself was a reliable source for identifying its own development staff, per WP:PSTS's guideline that primary sources can be used for "straightforward statements of fact". Top 100

Hey there Pheduik, I’m sure you know me as the moderator for the Top 100 Referenced Games List on the talk page for List of Games Considered the Best. I’ve had user Ferret remove my DoNotArchive tag on the article, with, in his edit, stating that my list misses the point of the List of Games Considered the Best article and that it should be included into the Omnibus data if it is important. I am admittedly a little confused as to why, if that is the case, this conclusion took so long to come to, given that my list has been up with active updates for nearly a year now without issue, however if this is truly the case then I would humbly request that I may add my list to the omnibus data, seeing as I believe you are the owner of the Google Doc. If not, then I would at least like an explanation as to why this is happening now when, again, there seemingly hasn’t been an issue for nearly a year (though perhaps this is more a question for Ferret than you). I've replied on my talk page. Please don't use the list's talk page as a sort of WP:WEBHOST for a related-but-not-the-same bit of information correlation. This seems to be the only editing you do. The fact that it was ignored for a long while does not preclude things changing. Hi XJJSX, thanks for the comment. I am not an admin or otherwise an arbiter of Wikipedia rules, so my comments here should not be taken as authoritative. With that said, I do think your list has some utility in forestalling the inevitable questions about which game has the most citations, which the talk page used to get often, though I can also see ferret's point that the subject matter of the list is adjacent to the article, rather than the article's subject itself. If you want to include a note about the ranked list under the "Lists" section (along with any variants), in reply to the main link to the omnibus data, I would not object; you could simply link to a Google Doc with the relevant data, and that would have at least some use. I believe ferret's objection is primarily that your Top 100 list has its own permanent section on the talk page. You can also continue to note updates when new lists are added; just please do not add more permanent headers about things that are not directly about maintaining the article. Thank you for your contributions to the page, and if you come across any suitable lists that we have not used yet, etc., we would be happy to look at those too.
