A beer for you![edit]

Welcome back! :) Take some beer while editing. Enjoy! →TSU tp* 06:29, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

by the way ...[edit]

it's very good to see you around again. The project is improved when you drop by and offer your thoughts. I hope all is well with you and your family good sir. All my best. (as always) .. — Ched :  ?  15:26, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All is fine, if as ever stressful due to the ownership of small children :) Thank you for you kind words and I hope all is well with you and yours. I'm still rather disillusioned with WP to be honest but I'm loitering in the wings - as opposed to shoving up an attention seeking retired/semi-retired notice which sadly seems to be the norm these days. Pedro :  Chat  19:19, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"as opposed to shoving up an attention seeking retired/semi-retired notice" ... Pedro too blunt, hurt master's feelings. Perhaps Pedro mean "attention seeking (except Floquenbeam) retired notice"? --Floquenstein's monster (talk) 21:14, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, not you :) Pedro :  Chat  22:15, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Pedro, I've been a bit busy since you were crazy kind enough to nom me for admin, including WP:WikiProject Editor Retention, which is trying to retire some of the retire signs, and some of the need. Dennis Brown - © 21:27, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looks intriguing!
  • Next week very crazy; much travelling to the hell hole and a couple of permie job offers I need to consider (ARGHHH!!!!!!!!) so apologies in advance for silence. Pedro :  Chat  22:15, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Due Diligence[edit]

I know you removed your comment on my talk page, but I'd still like to respond. My comment on the hat thing wasn't directed towards you; if at any single editor, it was more at Roux than anyone else. It certainly wasn't meant to drive you off the project, which seems to be a rather undeserved and unfair comment. Hersfold non-admin(t/a/c) 21:11, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was undeserved, and that's why I removed it describing it as "pointless". Apologies. Pedro :  Chat  18:55, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, well, well...[edit]

Look who we have here! >=)

Just kidding, welcome back! =D Master&Expert (Talk) 18:07, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I hope I didn't annoy you with that rather exuberant greeting. But seriously though, welcome back. Master&Expert (Talk) 05:04, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Very kind, but only loitering I'm afraid. Pedro :  Chat  20:35, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer you around. It's good for the signal to noise ratio. Dennis Brown - © 20:54, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Most kind. As an alternative perhaps the "bluntness to mollycoddle" ratio is more my remit at times. Pedro :  Chat  20:56, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, at least you let us know that you still exist. I've tried fading off the face of the Earth before, it was actually rather boring. [1] Master&Expert (Talk) 05:03, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your commentary[edit]

Hi Pedro. As an admin, expectations are on imposed on you in relation to conduct. At WT:AC, you made the comment "...they have only become relevant because of the utter incompetence Risker has exhibited...However let's be honest with ourselves for once - the reason this thread is here is the utter failure of a member of ARBCOM whose integrity is in tatters and reputation destroyed...". Bearing in mind the nature of the discussion prior to your participation, do you see how your commentary could be considered inflammatory? Is that level of aggression necessary or helpful, and is it the sort of example you should be setting? Does a "screw up" make someone utterly incompetent? I'm sure you were wishing to make a strong criticism - which is fine - but I hope you would reconsider the particular approach you adopted for this comment. There might be others, but I only looked at this one. Anyway, for what it's worth. Regards, Ncmvocalist (talk) 06:11, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Risker's block was likely valid (indeed has now been endorsed) - and I stated it was probably valid several times. It was also executed with utter incompetence. If you choose to perceive the comments you quote above as "aggresive" and "inflamatory" that's your perogative. However the bald fact is that ARBCOM members are (or rather should be) held to the highest of standards. Whilst I appreciate your link to NOTPERFECT I think you've missed the main thrust - not only was Risker's block statement (one that cannot generally be removed from logs) woefully poor in thinking (let's play out ...."I've blocked you because you've only edited your user page in all the time you'ver been here". Unblock Request - "I've only made three edits" ... ensuing epic lulz at ANI/I etc. etc.)but her lack of effort in explaining it - and the immediate hovering of the inner clique - suggests, to me, more scrutiny and more robust opinion is required; not pussyfooting around to save blushes. Best. Pedro :  Chat  22:01, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for participating in my RfA, I really appreciate it. =)

And on a slightly pertinent note, I just noticed your signature is strikingly similar to that of Ched's. Just thought I'd point that out. Master&Expert (Talk) 00:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • 👍 Like ... is Floq gonna be at the next meeting? \iii/ — Ched :  ?  15:40, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What are you guys going on about? There is no cabal. Reaper :  Eternal  16:51, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Took me forever to find this: User:Useight/Requests for signatureship. Floquen :  beam  17:10, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Glad we cleared that up. Dennis :  Brown  17:21, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That RfS is excellent! I hadn't seen that. We need more sigs that blink. 28bytes  ☂  17:15, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And I believe what started that RfS was this. Floquen :  beam  17:18, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The two I co-nom'ed this summer passed and would have been good fellow cabalists, Berean Hunter and Bbb23. Perhaps Pedro will add to our elite group soon. Dennis :  Brown  17:36, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll bring a friend to the next meeting. :) — Ched :  ?  18:08, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So what do we call these well qualified but non-official fellow cabalists? "Pedro Cabal - The Next Generation"? And yes, I would have nom'ed Mark in a skippy minute, good guy, will be an exceptional admin. Dennis :  Brown  19:35, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

hmmmm User:Pedro/RFA/The Next Generation (the legacy continues) ... 👍 Like :-) — Ched :  ?  20:02, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And Berean and Bbb23 are indeed top notch folk as well. Very good scouting Dennis. — Ched :  ?  20:05, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Holy fricken catfish, I'm offline for a day and already I got a gang showing up with their "tattoos", inside jokes, and conspiracies. =P Master&Expert (Talk) 23:48, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
these aren't the conspiracies you're looking forChed :  ?  01:14, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This all is a mix-up. I can't figure out who is actually making the comment by just having a look like I can with other sigs, I have to read them carefully here. I hope that everyone doesn't make this their default sigs. TheSpecialUser :  TSU  06:12, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just got to this. TheSpecialUser :  TSU  06:12, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ahem, I don't believe you are in the Cabal. Wearing gang colors when you aren't in the gang can get you shot in many neighborhoods. THESE colors were earned, by successfully running the gauntlet, after being hand picked by Pedro. I've refactored your sig accordingly. Dennis :  Brown  00:27, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Does this mean I am in the cabal, then? Hoorah! Its :  Zippy  14:23, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A support is half of a nomination, so I'm claiming my right to hang out on the porch with half a signature. Phil : osopher 03:56, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Editor review/TheGeneralUser (2) Your review is required and will be greatly appreciated :)[edit]

Hi Pedro ! I have started my second editor review at Wikipedia:Editor review/TheGeneralUser (2). I will be greatly delighted, thankful and valued to have your review for me regarding my editing and possible candidate for Adminship. I see you also evaluate possible candidates for Adminship as you had chosen to do so on Wikipedia:Request an RfA nomination, so do evaluate me too! As you are a experienced and long term Wikipedian so i have asked for your kind review. Take your time to review my editing and give the best review that you can :). Feel free to ask me any questions you would like to on the review page itself. It will be a great honor to have you review me for which I will truly feel appreciated and helpful! I always work to improve Wikipedia and make it a more better place to be for Everyone :). Regards and Happy Editing! TheGeneralUser (talk) 19:18, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have to admit, I stole this from Pedro, but I started User:Dennis Brown/RfA and listed myself at Wikipedia:Request an RfA nomination as willing to review potential admins, due to Pedro's influence. After my own RfA, it became apparent that who we choose is very important, as is preparation. I haven't really started TheGeneralUser's review yet, just a skeleton, but my mentor and nom Pedro is always welcome to participate on my RfA worksheets. What I've seen of TheGeneralUser has been very positive, enough that I'm doing a full review. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 14:46, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I hav esome time so will try to do so shortly. Pedro :  Chat  19:05, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
