Replacement of image in Slot Car entry

What was the rationale for your 22 Nov 2018 redesign of an image captioned "Typical Electric Circuit of a 1:24 or 1:32 Slot Car Track" in the Slot Car entry? D.Helber (talk) 17:18, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

@D.Helber: I made a vector graphics version of the diagram, as that is the preferred format for diagrams such as these. Additionally, it does not contain any English text and was uploaded to Commons, so it may be used in other languages. Pbrks (talk) 18:23, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
I now see that there exists a vectorized version of your diagram that you made back in 2009. The file could (and probably should) be cleaned up and used in the article. Pbrks (talk) 18:27, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

@D.Helber: I've taken the liberty of fixing File:SlotcarElecCircuit.svg. Feel free to add it to the article. Pbrks (talk) 01:31, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Pbrks, thank you so much for your help. I was not aware that text in illustrations should be in easily translated format, but it's an excellent idea. I have replaced the second version with your modified translatable SVG. D.Helber (talk) 19:40, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

A message from Brandon Downes

I've recently edited the Call of Duty League article to include the results from the leagues first weekend and it just doesnt look as clean as I want it, but being new I'm really not up to scratch with my coding so I was wondering if you could help. I saw that you did a bunch on Dallas Fuel but particularly in 2018 Dallas Fuel Season, I really like how the collapsible results look and I think it would be great to have in the results for the CDL too. Instead of people just seeing a 3-2 they can then see individual games within in a series. I just don't know how to go about creating a collapsible results box like that so if you could help that would be greatly appreciated! Brandon Downes (talk) 02:35, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

@Brandon Downes: Hello. The game logs are merited for team season pages, as they directly pertain to the article (like, as you noted, 2018 Dallas Fuel season). However, if I went through the effort of making them for CDL, I believe that they would likely get removed from the main CDL page, and the work would have been for naught. In fact, the article 2019 Overwatch League season had a schedule with results (this edit ), but it was removed not even 8 hours later. I'm not explicitly saying "no", but I'd like to get some input from other editors before creating them.
With that being said, there should be a season standings on the CDL page, and, if you would like, I can create a standings template that would be need to be updated after every event. As a side note, I also plan to make roster tables, such as the one you can find on the OWL team pages. Pbrks (talk) 04:37, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
No I completely understand getting input from other editors on the matter especially when I'm pretty new. With how new the league is we're just sort of in limbo as regards to whether it will happen for more seasons. I'm expecting it to, with organisations spending $25 million I doubt it only goes for one season but Masem suggested we wait until more seasons get confirmed until an individual season page is created. My idea for the collapsible results box will probably be best suited for when/if the individual season and individual team seasons are created. A standings template would be awesome if that's possible and team roster tables would look great compared to the standard ones I threw together. Thanks!--Brandon Downes (talk) 13:08, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
@Brandon Downes: I have no doubt that there will be more than one season (and, in my opinion, a 2020 CDL season page could/should exist now). Let me know if there's anything else you need! Pbrks (talk) 04:40, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
I think there should be too as it would really make it easier to track events. At the moment just the roster tables you said you were making and as soon as they're finished I'll get round to updating all the pages. Also currently waiting for the Royal Ravens page to make it through draft as some editor decided that out of all the team pages she would move that one back to draftspace. --Brandon Downes (talk) 04:48, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
@Brandon Downes: Yes. Take a look at {{Atlanta FaZe roster}}. I've added it to the Atlanta FaZe page. You will need to make template page for each team in the same way. I've made a documentation page at Template:CDL roster doc so you can see a list of all acceptable parameters. Let me know if you have any questions about how to implement this template for any of the other CDL teams. Pbrks (talk) 05:10, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
Honestly that's so awesome! Thanks so much! I'll probably do some experimenting tomorrow as I need to try and learn how to do things. Currently trying to get Crimsix his own personal page done too and I'm only about half way through his career. --Brandon Downes (talk) 05:26, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
@Brandon Downes: Great job with the Huntsmen roster, glad you were able to get it to work. One small note about the template, the page name must be Template:Team X roster, with a lowercase "r". This is so the little v-t-e thing you see in the top right corner of the template goes to the correct page, as capitalization matters for page names. Pbrks (talk) 14:06, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
@Pbrks: Thank you. Was finally able to get it sorted. I have a couple questions, how do you add more than one assistant coach and also what should we do if players are currently out on loan? --Brandon Downes (talk) 17:44, 31 January 2020 (UTC)

@Brandon Downes: For more than one assistant coach, you can do this:

| asst_coach =
*Coach #1
*Coach #2

To add a player on loan, add | otherlegend = '''(L)''' On loan somewhere after the list of players. Then, like you do for (S) and (TW), add |note = L on the players line. Pbrks (talk) 18:07, 31 January 2020 (UTC)

@Pbrks: Just finished off all the templated and have implemented them in all the pages if you want to have a look. --Brandon Downes (talk) 21:39, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
@Brandon Downes: I've had a look at some of them. Looks good! Just make sure the background and the colors aren't both too bright/dark. A light background with white text is difficult to read (Also, no need to {{ping}} me here, I get notified when you write on my talk page). Curious, I noticed that all of the players that are substitutes are also two-way players. Will that always be the case for CDL players? That is, can you be a sub without being two-way, and vice versa? Pbrks (talk) 21:46, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
Apologies. I'll go through and change a couple of the colours. If I'm honest I just made the assumption that all substitutes were on a two-way but I'll have to check who's actually specifically designated. --Brandon Downes (talk) 21:55, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi! Is there an easier and more direct way of contacting you? Either email or discord? Just some questions are super small and I feel bad cluttering the page like this. --Brandon Downes (talk) 00:55, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
@Brandon Downes: Although this is my preferred contact method, you're more than welcome to email me. Just use Special:EmailUser (that way, I won't have to publicly disclose my email address). Pbrks (talk) 05:15, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Call of Duty League Infobox

Hi Pbrks, with the spare time I have currently and with the CDL nearing it's midway point of the season I was going to start creating the 2020 season articles. My only problem being that I don't have an infobox to go with them and I'm not quite sure how to go about it and I want the articles to be completed as soon as possible, so I was wondering if it would be possible for you to create an infobox for me? Or give me some advice about how to go about creating one. Brandon Downes (talk) 00:03, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Request: LoL roster/player templates

I think the templates you created for OWL/CDL rosters are very good. I want to begin converting the roster wikitables for professional League of Legends teams to a similar template, as I believe the templates you created better follow WP:MOS guidelines. I am, however, unable to figure out how to create similar templates on my own, and am hoping you could create them instead. I think using OWL/CDL templates for LoL teams may confuse editors, and so I have opted not to do that. All the best, CentreLeftRight 00:39, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

@CentreLeftRight: Hello. What column titles (Name, Handle, etc.) would you like on the template? Pbrks (talk) 13:31, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Pbrks: Aside from player numbers, having all the columns used in Template:OWL roster doc would be ideal for readers. I do not recall the exact name of the policy, but I have been notified that there is one that asserts roles should not be added yet because there is no article named or similar to Characters of Overwatch for League of Legends, and thus readers without prior context cannot understand its significance. I personally do not think this is a helpful rule as most people who look for League of Legends rosters on Wikipedia will likely already know this information, but I think if it's a big deal someone would make a fuss about it on the talk page(s). Ideally there would be a role section that says "Acceptable values are (Top|Jungle|Mid|ADC|Support). Column will sort in this order.", but it's your call if you're aware of that stylisation rule. Thanks for your help. CentreLeftRight 21:09, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@CentreLeftRight: Okay I've made them. I did include the player role, as I feel the same that you do in regards to this. All the templates are located here: Category:League of Legends roster templates. If you have any questions, let me know. Pbrks (talk) 14:22, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
@Pbrks: Thank you again for all your help. CentreLeftRight 17:28, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

Request: Infobox CDL Season

Hey! Hope you are doing well as I noticed you took some time off from editing. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to recreate your OWL season infobox for the CDL? If you have the time let me know and I'll work out exactly what would be needed in it. Thanks in advance, Brandon Downes (talk) 03:10, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

@Brandon Downes: Hello, and thank you. Let me know if {{Infobox CDL team season}} works for you and if you would like to add or remove anything. Pbrks (talk) 03:21, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
Holy you are insane thank you so much! Right now the only thing that would be nice to add would be between record and place a "Homestand Wins" for the amount of in season tournaments they won, but apart from that I don't notice anything else that needs to be added but if I do I'll be sure to let you know! Thanks once again! Brandon Downes (talk) 07:15, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
@Brandon Downes: Okay, I've added the homestand_wins parameter. Glad I could help! Pbrks (talk) 14:32, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

Are you the only one who'll manage/edit the article when the esports match gets underway? Will others pitch in to contriute? Ryan (talk) 22:30, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
