Minefield[edit]

ummm... i'm not sure if that was directed at me, but if it was, I would have no way of deleting anything on Wikipedia. And Minefield is NOT a browser on it's own. It WAS the name of a pre-alpha release of Firefox 3, which is now in alpha 1, and it is now called Gran Paradiso. The browser works on it's own and by the way is in pre-alpha 2 now.

Second: I don't know how I can make it any clearer.. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE THE ARTICLES STAND! First of all, Minefield isn't even an alpha of Firefox 3, it's simply the nightly builds of the trunk for Firefox 3. It is in NO way a web browser on its own.

Hello! As promised on your article's Talk Page, I'm posting this here. Regarding getting your distro out there, you're going to have a hard (next to impossible) time using Wikipedia to advertise or publicize it. Your best bet is going to be to publish a release (even in alpha state) and share it with friends and others in the community, and be ready to fix bugs. You might do well with sharing this with folks on security-oriented mailing lists, security IRC channels, etc. When you're ready for a little more traffic (fixed a lot of the bugs), you might want to try pushing it on distrowatch.com.

From there, if it gains traction and becomes notable, you're going to have a lot easier time justifying an article on Wikipedia. Check out the article on BackTrack for a good example on this. Thanks! :) -Kgasso (talk) 10:39, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
