Admin[edit]

Hi are you an admin yet? Or do you know any other Pakistani on Wikipedia who's an admin? (just curious)...:)Teckgeek (talk) 13:19, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, just one more thing bro......can you have a look at these articles : Pashto people, Pashto language.....the only thing I am concerned is about the pointless insertion of Hindi text on the Pashto people article as well as the unexplained insertion of WikiProject India templates on the talk pages of both article (I already removed one on the Pashto language article but have purposely not done so yet on the Pashto people one)...... Can you just convince me what the hell Pukhtoons and India have in common? I mean, come on, there's only 11,000 in the whole country, and 95 % of them are barely Pashtoons anymore!! They're not even notable as group apart from the fact that some distinguished ones only trace their so-called "ancestry." I see nothing but pure unexplained POV. There are already some arguments about this on the respective talk pages, pointed out by various other users in frustration. Hope you can lend some assistance. KFM[edit]

Hello Pahari. i reverted some of your edits on Kashmir Freedom Movement page. This article is about an ORGANIZATION called KFM. some of the references just talked about the freedom movement in kashmir in general which obviously exists and is well covered in other articles. this organization ( which I suspect was a minor player now non existent unlike JKLF and APHC) has a president called sardar aftab ahmad khan according to the dawn reference you added. google search of that name turns up nothing. also this organization supposedly wants kashmir to be free of both Pakistan and India. so maybe the ISI folks got rid of them. just kidding Wikireader41 (talk) 23:12, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay fair enough - by the way I know the organisation is neither pro Indian or Pakistani as they seem to be saying the people are being ignored in the dispute between the two nations. Pahari Sahib 23:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
right. this organization suppsedly was started in 1972. when I searched for sardar aftab ahmad khan google just keeps up bringing up aftab sherpao who clearly is not the same guy. I do not think this organization amounted to much at any point and now they probaly dont have any money even to host their website. clearly not Notable enough for WP especially since most info cant be verified except the presidents name from the dawn reference. Have a Great day.Wikireader41 (talk) 23:27, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possible socks of wikivandal41[edit]

As you already know wikivandal is a pov pusher of the nth degree who is only on wikipedia with a one purpose account to prey on pakistani article much like indian troops preying on kashmiri women maybe you could add the rapes to the timeline list on the kashmir conflict? Anyways getting the point im suspicious about these edits made by ip 67.184**** [1] they look very similar to wikivandal41s edits and with all the same POV pushing traits 86.153.129.95 (talk) 15:26, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indophobia[edit]

This article is synthesised and highly pov the revert you did was soon added back by wikireader41 and when i tried to edit it nihskid the one and only protected it a seperate article i believe on pakistanphobia is required. Hey pahari hope your well just wanted to ask you to go through the Indian veiw section as its blatantly pov it states "minortities will not be safe in pakistan" introduced by the one and only wikivandal41 well a counter argument would do just fine such as indias terrible communal riots such as in gujarat and the fact that is has the higest number of separatist movements I could go on however that silly source less comment needs to be removed cheers 86.158.232.241 (talk) 13:37, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well it is blatantly POV, because it is the Indian view - this how many of them actually think of things. Pahari Sahib 15:10, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
well said Pahari. Looks like some Pakistanis share the view also. The threat of Pakistan's revisionist textsWikireader41 (talk) 23:00, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay there is no need to go down a different tangent as the page is about the Kashmir conflict, having looked at article again that bit of text is uncited. Pahari Sahib 14:44, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
as is most of the text in Kashmir conflict#Pakistani view. are you planning to add any citations to any of that. remember we discussed this months ago Wikireader41 (talk) 21:05, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
also would recommend re reading this policy Wikipedia:Banning_policy#Editing_on_behalf_of_banned_users. best for you to avoid editing on behalf of Nangparbat as you did here [5] in response to Nangparbats request above. Now please dont claim you still dont know who nangparbat is. we have gone over this before.Wikireader41 (talk) 21:11, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am aware of policy, and in fact edit on behalf of no-one. You may wish to re-read the above link namely that changes have to be "verifiable and have independent reasons for making them". In this case undue weight and verifiability, on the subject of banned users what about your reintroduction of Hkelkar material? - That's okay is it? Pahari Sahib 21:23, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
reverting Nangparbat is not the same as re introducing Hkelkar material. subtle but important difference. It is interesting that you claim for changes you made you had "verifiable and have independent reasons for making them" when temporally it happened soon after Nangparbat asked you to make this particular change above. by your admission you haven't been to the article in months. interesting you suddenly discovered 'independent reasons' to do so. wouldn't look good when you apply for administratorship. unless of course you think WP does not deserve an admin of Pakistani origin.Wikireader41 (talk) 23:03, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't "suddenly discover" these independent reasons for reverting the KC article, that bit of text seems like personal POV. Actually I only reverted after your comments about "Pakistan's revisionist text". As for editing on behalf of other users, there have been several messages on my page you may wish to look at the above sections, namely, Possible socks of wikivandal41, Sarfraz Ahmed Naeemi,Kashmir valley, Disallowedfromseeing aka Lightappliation sock of 24.28.79.93. BTW User:Shovon76 offered to nominate me for adminship and I declined. Pahari Sahib 09:29, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know you resisted editing on behalf of Nangparbat in the past. This time you did not. I was not aware of your disinterest in being an admin. probably the best thing to do anyway.Wikireader41 (talk) 22:00, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In addendum, what we discussed months ago was deleting an entire section (Pakistan view), which you seemed keen to do. Now I haven't edited the page in months, because quite frankly editing pages that in anyway touch upon the Kashmir conflict seems to be way too much hassle - so I have been ignoring that page. There has been a fair bit of edit warring in the interim btw. Ironically it was only after your posting that I decided to properly reread the page, the Indian view had refs for everything bar that bit. Pahari Sahib 21:44, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I had discussed removing uncited portions of the article which 'Pakistani view' is as per WP policy of no OR and verifiability. I suspect adding citations for the statements from Pakistani Government sources will not lead to edit warring. unless of course it so happens that Pakistan Government does not have coherent official policy on Kashmir and such citations do not exist. ;-) i remember Zardari recently called Kashmiri separatists terrorists and swore that Pakistan is committed to act against terrorism. In which case the section needs to go per WP policy of verifiability and no OR.Wikireader41 (talk) 23:03, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
His comments were not against separatists per se but rather those that engage in violence. Pahari Sahib 09:29, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK so not supporting 'violent' separatists is official policy now??. maybe we should mention it.;-). Wikireader41 (talk) 22:00, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Histoty of Bengal between 1720 and 1770[edit]

Hello Pahari Saheb,

I am assuming you are from Pakistan. Adaab!

Off late I am trying to add a bit of material to the Histoty of Bengal between 1720 and 1770; the 50 years that cahnged the fate of this sub-continent FOREVER. There is a Pakistan angle to this as Murshidabad was a part of Pakistan for 2/3 days [14th-17th, August 1947] and Nawab Zada Iskandar Mirza [from the family of the Nawab of Bengal] was for sometime the President of Pakistan.

The importance of this period has been underscored in history as it revolves just around the Battle of Plassey. I have, off late, started reading books by Iskandar Mirza and books like Syar ul-Mutakhrein and Riyas us-Salatin abd documents of the British EIC and the Goverment of India [1857-1947]. The same are available at the Asiatic Society Library, National Library and Victoria Memorial Hall Library; all in Calcutta, India.

The effort is to get as much information on this period and document the same without bias, in the true spirit of WIKI.

The request is that you read my edits and do put in feedback from time to time. Please permit me to approach assistance from you from time to time.

Thanks and Regards, Regards, Shantanu Das 18:39, 13 July 2009 (UTC) / Shantanu Das —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shantanu2806 (talkcontribs)

Change of spelling of Mughal Emperors, Rafi Ul-Darjat to Rafi ud-Darajat ; Nikusiyar to Neku Siyar or Nekusiyar; Mohammed Ibrahim to Muhammad Ibrahim and Rafi Ud-Daulat to Rafi ud-Daulah.

Hi P'Sahib,

I noticed on the page of the captioned that his year of Birth was 1733 (after multiple edits). I believe that Siraj was 23-24 when executed but was wondering as to how the year of his birth was arrived at. Since he was not born into royalty it is highly unlikely that any accurate records would have been in place.

Please suggest and throw some more light on it.

well said Yousuf. the "working" counter intel prevented CIA/RAW/Mossad so that someone else could do this. wasnt sipah-e-sahaba created by ISI to do Jihad in Kashmir as per Operation Tupac??? I thought I read that somewhere. ;-) Wikireader41 (talk) 15:12, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Will you lot knock it off, and when did I ever mention CIA, RAW or Mossad? Pahari Sahib 16:11, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't... Its just that wikireader hates Pakistanis and ISI... And he hates to see fingers [[being pointed at India's direction... His soul purpose, it seems, is to Vandalize wikipedia with Indian POV and help YellowMonkey in doing the same... Why do you hate Pakistan so much Wiki... Can't we be friends....??? Adil your (talk) 20:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Pahari you did not. I was just curious because nobody in Pakistan seems to be thinking on those lines which I found a surprise. adil your my "soul" purpose is not to vandalize WP as you can see from the fairly Neutral article I wrote on this unfortunate incident in Pakistan. it is even featured in "In The News" section on the main page now. whatever gave you the idea I hated Pakistan ?? In the process of writing this article also learnt that Pakistan was ranked 6th most dangerous place for minorities having recently edged past Congo. Looks like Indians did not even make it to Top 20 and so were comprehensively defeated by Pakistanis as usual !!!! Sure if you give up your POV pushing and we can be friends. you should hang around Pahari let him mentor you on the ways of WP. Wikireader41 (talk) 21:28, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I see, I wasn't sure if you were disappointed that no-one was attributing this event to RAW and/or accusing me of doing this ;-) But as everyone seems to want to be friends - why not try to be friends.Pahari Sahib 21:47, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure Pahari. well said as usual. let me quote a famous Pakistani poet whose poem I learnt by heart in school. " Mazhab nahin sikhata aapas mein bair rakhna. Hindi hain hum watan hai Hindostan hamara." Cheers. Wikireader41 (talk) 02:31, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That would be Dr.Allama Muhammad Iqbal.... The National Poet of Pakistan... Who wrote the two versions of "Sare jahan se acha", the first one he wrote before going to England, which is usually taught in Indian Schools, the second one he wrote after coming back, which is a bit more Popular in Pakistan... Its most famous line BTW is "Cheen o' Arab humara, Hindostan hamara, Muslim hain hum watan hai, sara jahan humara"... You can find both these poems, in his book Bang-e-Dara... (Just a bit of Info)... Adil your (talk) 10:32, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You are right Pahari. kind of reminiscing about the days of past glory of Islam amidst collapsing Islamic empires around him ( Mughals & Ottomans). It is interesting how people change their views over their lifetime. Just hope Chinese don't get to hear the 2nd version. they havent been very kind to Uyghur people and are a bit paranoid about Islamic expansionism you know.Wikireader41 (talk) 01:30, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am right? :-) ... those are Adil's comments above (I have been off-wiki for a couple of days), I appreciate your quote though. Pahari Sahib 16:15, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
my mistake. he was just copying your style.... Pahari I hope you are not in agreement with what dawn is saying and you added here [7]. you know anything repugnant to Islam is not permitted per Pakistan constitution. yet they are calling for Dhimmis to be treated equal to Muslims in an Islamic country ??? next you know they will be asking for equal rights for women ??? I hope Dawn offices dont get blown up now.;-)Wikireader41 (talk) 21:38, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm.... a) Why do you hope I am not in agreement b) Since when have you become a fan of Wahhabism ;-) c) Jinnah the founder of the state (whatever you think of his other ideas) did say you "may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State" d) Dawn have consistently criticised the Taliban and extremist - if their offices are ever attacked it won't be due to this editorial. e) Dawn does have this to say on women.
Pahari Sahib 22:59, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did not say it would disappoint me. Your are welcome to agree with dawn. just make sure you invest in a good bullet proof jacket in case you are still in Pakistan or go for a visit. would not want to lose the most prolific wikipedian from Pak. wahhabi's & I go back a long time and ever since I learnt to fire a gun I have been there fan. I know Jinnah wanted an 'Islamic Secular' state ( instead of plain old secular state like Nehru & Gandhi's India) but seems to me he would have better luck asking for "hot ice". anyway being a Shia he must be rolling in his grave to see Wahhabi's running amok in his beloved "land of the pure". I can see the liberal slant of Dawn for sure but I still like Najam Sethi's Daily Times better. In my mind asking for Dhimmis to get equal rights as muslims is as unislamic as it gets and goes against core tenets of the religion - sure to attract the ire of the 'pure' muslims. Its like asking for a Church to be built in Mecca or having an abortion clinic in Vatican. its cute that Sherry thinks Pakistan has more female political representation than India. she must be smoking something other than tobacco...;-)Wikireader41 (talk) 02:19, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No need to invest in a bulletproof vest, actually there in many in Pakistan who condemn the action of the Wahhabis. How are Sherry's comments inaccurate? I confess I do not know the actual figure. But she is a politician so who knows ... Pahari Sahib 16:51, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am sure there are now. Like I said Mohajirs never really bought into the 2 nation theory and I believe Altaf Hussain is very vocal that partition was an idiotic idea. anyway classic technique of politics since times of Chanakya 'Divide and Rule'. drive a wedge between Deobandis and Barelwis, Shias and Sunnis, Panjabis and Bengalis ( back in 1971). the results so far look encouraging. I think the strategy of Americans to divide Pakistanis into 'Good Pakistanis' and 'Bad Pakistanis' was a stroke of genius which Indians took time to figure out. bulletproof west would still be a good idea. you can ask Benazir if you dont believe me. writing articles for a website run by western infidels cant be considered too islamic by the wahhabis  ;-) Wikireader41 (talk) 23:03, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Like I said Mohajirs never really bought into the 2 nation theory", when did you say this? And fancy leaving your home just for a theory you don't believe in - oh yes that's right they left on pain of death. You seem to be of the belief that the Americans are out to destroy Pakistan - this along with your views on Islam are most peculiar. It seems that you actually agree with the Wahhabi interpretation of events (or buy into their view) albeit for diametrically opposite reasons. Pahari Sahib 08:29, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Americans are not out to destroy Pakistan. Just get it rid of wahhabis/ terrorists hiding in FATA and rest of the country. Divide and Rule. my views on Islam are pretty clear. and pretty easy to understand if you pay attention. American want Pakistanis to get rid of terrorists and are willing to pay for it handsomely in real Dollars. am just worried that your hobby of writing articles for WP may not sit well with wahhabis. Hence the suggestion for a bullet proof vest. they probably want you to stop writing pick up a gun and do Jihad in Afghanistan and Kashmir where infidels are supposedly raping Islamic sisters and daughters. which part of my statement makes you feel I support Wahhabis ??? I am quite happy with you writing articles on WP as long as you stay NPOV. I enjoy that activity too. Mohajirs left on pain of Death !!!! what about the millions of secular muslims who willingly stayed back in India and to date want nothing to do with Pakistan ??? Where are the long lines of Indian Muslims wanting to immigrate to Pakistan. Oh I am sorry I forgot Bengali Muslims did not want anything to do with Pakistan either. They are just happy being illegal immigrants in India and providing unskilled services for pennies while hiding from BJP mobs in India.Wikireader41 (talk) 18:16, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I understand your views quite clearly, you misunderstand what I wrote, you stated "I think the strategy of Americans to divide Pakistanis into 'Good Pakistanis' and 'Bad Pakistanis' was a stroke of genius" - this is not dis-similar to what the militants say. Yes the Mohajirs did leave on pain of death, it's known as involuntary migration. BTW Bengal was crucial to the Pakistan Movement, the Muslim League was actually formed there and it provided crucial momentum to the creation of the state. It is true however that in later years tension grew between the two wings.Pahari Sahib 21:15, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pakistan templates[edit]

I don't mean to be intrusive but I really feel that standard templates have much more to offer and look better than these Pakistan templates. You've done a great deal of good work on Pakistan towns and villages but consistency really is needed. Anyway if the article is about a Union Council and town/village together can you please add a cities towns and villages category to the article too e.g Dandot like this. Thanks. Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I do know how to add cats incidentally, in the example you have given btw, the article pre-dates the existence of the cat. Pahari Sahib 11:58, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've made some adjustments and I think it looks much better now so I've withdrawn my deletion of the city box template. I am not convinced about you adding the flag of the region and coat of arms to every article though. It seems very redundant to me to display the flags in every article unless they are actually the flags of the city. It does nothing to help the user. Please remove these regional flags and coat of arms from articles. P.S. I create all of those Iranian provincial templates foruse in articles including the counties. They are gradually being translated.

P.S see the proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals/2009/August Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:38, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
Been off wiki for a few days, so just seen your message, I must confess you have done a good job with the Pakistan infobox :-) .... it had crossed my mind a couple of times whether or not the flags should be included in the infobox. Oh and I had noticed that you created the Iran templates and that they were being translated albeit haphazardly by several editors. ;-) Pahari Sahib 10:04, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Glad you approve. Well they are used on many articles alreayd so the most contructive thing would be so at least improve them. Yes the regional and national flags shouldn't appear in every infobox, imagine every articles on a town in America having a big flag in the box it would not be right. Anyway I have Rich Farmborough on the case cleaning up rticles and adding categories. I noticed a lot of work needs doing in regards to infoboxes on the northern areas of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. If you could work on those.... Yes I created all of the Iranian templates, the idea is to duplicate all the articles from Persian wiki eventually. We need Persian translators though and people who can link the equivalent articles. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:09, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You know it wasn't me who added the regional and national flags to the templates. Pahari Sahib 10:14, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can see that. Anyway if you see the infobox for Quetta for example it actually looks quite good I can live with it like that. It now resembles a standard layout and actually has a cool Islamic green background to emulate the flag. I would rather the standard template for consistency purposes but the most important thing is that a lot of these articles are cleaned up and referenced, seems you may have some help from BrianLara, but I much appreciate your work on the articles. Could you try to go throught some of the towns and villages in northern Pakistan and add infoboxes I noticed a high number have no infoboxes or coordinates. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:26, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you understand a little Persian please put your name down for Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki/Persian. Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:11, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Heres what I propose. I propose that you change the Pakistan template name to Template:Infobox Pakistani location. We delete the tehsil template and stick to using the same template as appears in city articles. However it will need to be modified to suit tehsil requirements. Similarly for union council articles which are mostly in the same article as the main village of that council I would propose you add a UC=yes or tehsil=yes option in the parameter which will display a blue bar at the top like this. So if the template is being used for a tehsil you have the option to say tehsil=yes and it will show Tehsil in blue bar at the top. What do you think? This would at least give some consistency to the Pakistan articles and stop the ned to use many different templates and maintain them all.

Like the blue line here:

Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:53, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm I like the idea of changing the name of the template, (after all they are mainly villages that are being used), but not so sure about scrubbing the tehsil infobox. Essentially you are talking about combining a settlement infobox with district subdivisional info - wouldn't this make things slightly more complicated? I think it better to have two separate templates - after all you could argue with get rid of district and provincial templates, although perhaps the tehsil and UC parameters could be used to indicate if the settlement serves as the headquarters of UC, tehsil or district. What I think is that we need better maintained templates - there's only a few anyway. I think the real issue is that WP Pakistan is not being maintained as well as it could. Pahari Sahib 11:11, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the difference between the city template and the tehsil template is pretty minimal... Can you go through the district articles and add the tehsils as I've noticed a lot of them like Muzaffargarh District etc do not list the tehsil sub divisions. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:33, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The content parameters of this infobox is almost identical to the city template. Would be very very easily done. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:38, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the capital option, all I need now is to implement the blue banner part. Later then I'll demonstrate to you how easily it will be to do and use an example in a tehsil article. You'll have to trust me on this. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:48, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've added two new admin level paramters to the template, see Bangla Manthar for an example. Tehsils and Union Councils for villages. As for the other I talked about that will be sorted with a day or so... hopefully. SO you should now add a tehsil= and union council=to your infoboxes. If a union council then obviously don't fill it in but shortly a settlement_type=uc parameter will be added, same for settlement_type=tehsil if the articles is about a uc or tehsil. If a village below these then you fill in as I did to Bangla Manthar. Should be very easy to follow, you'll see soon enough.. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:16, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay , look forward to the outcome Pahari Sahib 07:29, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Err one thing, why is the UC for Bangla Manthar set to Sadiqabad? Pahari Sahib 08:17, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm getting Jack to fix that problem. We will need a new settlement_type parameter to display if it is tehsil not if it just says tehsil=!!. But we really need to improve quality on these articles. What's up with the box? Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:22, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, made a mistake on the Arjun Singhwali article, fixed the coord now. Don't know how I missed that. Pahari Sahib 22:15, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template is ready now. See this. We should now remove all of the tehsil and uc boxes and replace them with this. I will move the infobox Pakistani city to Pakistan location. If it is a union ouncil where it says settlement_type= you just add uc understand? Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:56, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Azad and Northern areas[edit]

Please remove all POV statements from the articles like in PAK ("most international agencies") article as wikireader41 the vandal has removed the statement from Indian-occupied Kashmir page please add back the statement hes also attacking ISI page with typical Indian rants If the Indians cant stand any mention of the dispute in Jammu and kashmir page so then why should we in azad kashmir and northern areas page? or in the PAK article I know you will do the neutral thing cheers 86.153.132.40 (talk) 22:27, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest we should remove all POV terms in the Azad kashmir and Northern Areas article especially in the introduction paragraph as the Indians cannot take POV terms we should not tolerate it either 86.158.234.4 (talk) 11:09, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
