So many articles with missing references[edit]

Hi PK2Morgan. Everytime you use a short form reference, {{sfn}} for instance, you need to supply a full cite for it to link with. They are not a substitute for a full reference. You will need to go back and correct each article were you have not supplied the full reference. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested transmissions °co-ords° 11:41, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can you give me some examples? I have never used the {{sfn}} template that you mention, and I just double checked on the Help page for how to cite websites and books, and it looks like everything is good. PK2Morgan (talk) 14:00, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately the error messages are hidden by default (not my idea), so although it looks like everything is ok in fact it's not. As DuncanHill mentions below you've been adding {{sfn|NatureServe|2022}} without explaining what "NatureServe 2022" means. I've put together an example here of how it's all meant to work. If you look at the source code, you can see how everything links together. If it all seems slightly more complicated then you need, WP:REFB explains how to do simpler forms of referencing. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested transmissions °co-ords° 14:43, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I understand and see what I was doing wrong. I'm fixing those pages now. PK2Morgan (talk) 14:44, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NatureServe2022[edit]

Hi, you have been adding references in the form {{sfn|NatureServe|2022}} to several articles, for example here. Unfortunately you have not defined the reference, so the articles are added to Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. Also, nobody can check whatever "NatureServ" is to see if the reference is appropriate. DuncanHill (talk) 14:05, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK, got it. I had copied that from another page to reference the conservation status of a plant. I will change it. Thanks! PK2Morgan (talk) 14:23, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. DuncanHill (talk) 15:11, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
