Glottolog codes[edit]

Hi,

FYI, sometimes Glottolog has a code for the topic of an article when Ethnologue does not, as here[1] and here.[2] We don't need to match them up. I just haven't had a chance to run through them all yet.

Also, the dialects in Glottolog, which are in italics, are not reliable. Limburgish, for example, is repeated elsewhere in the tree, as a language rather than as a dialect of Dutch, and it's the other one which corresponds to the ISO code. That's because most of the dialects have been lifted uncritically from Multitree, which is a horrible resource. Nauruan to 1000[edit]

You said: "Date conflicts with records on Nauruan wikipedia, which reports the 1000th article was created on June 12 (barely, but still ...)" What "records" are you referring to? Because I checked the situation at around 3:00 a.m. (UTC) on 2014-06-13, and can attest that at that time, according to na:Special:NewPages (and na:Special:Statistics), the "1000th article" had just been created less than 3 hours before, at 12:18 a.m. (na:A, a bogus article created by an IP editor in the style of a well-known longtime vandal, in a transparent effort to push the wiki over 1000 articles). I ignored that and did not report the milestone at m:Wikimedia News or Wikipedia:Milestone statistics (but I did tag the bogus article for deletion). When I returned the next day, I saw that the milestone had been reported by the same IP editor. But in the meantime, more (legitimate) articles had been created on the wiki (by you, as it turns out), and so the June 13th date was still correct, whether the bogus article was ignored or not. So… I don't see how the date can really be the 12th. Did you only notice it on the 15th? Because by that time the large number of intervening edits would make it very difficult to reconstruct what the actual 1000th article was (since any addition of links to a previously linkless article, like you did here, would alter the article count and make it seem like a different article listed at na:Special:NewPages was the 1000th one.)
