Disambiguation link notification for May 5

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hyderabadi cuisine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Aurangabad (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Istiqlal Mosque may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Query

In Hyderabadi haleem, by "mutton", you are actually meaning goat meat, right? Not lamb.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:13, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Yea, goat meat should be mentioned. Mutton, for a wider audience, a particular type of lamb meat.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:34, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Are you pretty much sure about the coverage of the article? Is nearly everything that is available covered? If so, this article might be developed towards an FAC.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:03, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
I find the cooking method pretty ok; it is not a cook book, and we don't need to give exact details.
I have not gone through the references; are all those reliable?--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:47, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Hyderabad goce copy edit

Is the goce copy edit still going on, or, is it over?--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:18, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Apologies for the late notice. I am still working on the copy edit but i've been away for a work trip and don't have consistent net access. I'll get back into it as soon as I return from the trip. Blackmane (talk) 17:04, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
That's ok, please take your time. We'll wait.--Dwaipayan (talk) 11:54, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi I've returned. In looking at the transport section, I believe that some more recent references need to be found. There are references for stats dating from 2001, for some vehicle numbers, 2005, for passenger usage, and 2012, for other vehicle numbers. I'll leave the existing references in, but references >10 years old really need replacing. Blackmane (talk) 16:03, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for finding the ref. Another one I came across is this one http://hyderabadmetrorail.in/images/pdfs/executive-summary.pdf, which is no longer available and redirects to a new website. As I'm not familiar with the various agencies (apart from what I've been reading in the article to date), I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to see what you can dig up. Blackmane (talk) 09:35, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I'm still working on that section. Trying to work the last part into the rest so that the section flows better. Because of the size of the article, I'm taking a little longer than I normally would. Thanks for your patience. Blackmane (talk) 10:32, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the update. I've reworded the sentence to make that differentiation. Just to make you aware, I will be going away on holiday for a week from Saturday and most likely won't have my laptop with me. In the mean time, would you mind have a check of the references in the article? I've replaced one which was a bit out of date but there may be others which could be dead links now due to website updates. Blackmane (talk) 00:32, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi Omer, I've completed the copyedit, finally. Apologies for how long it's taken. As you'll see by the history that unlike a usual copy edit, which would reduce the article size, my edits have made the article somewhat larger instead. There were many broken and run on sentences that made reading it very clunky. I've aimed to organise each section so that the material within it flows naturally from one part to the next. In the last edit I made to the Sport section, I removed a reference to the Hyderabad Golf Course, which has questionable notability. The article it links to has had a tag on it since 2011 and it may be time to send it to AFD if nothing else can be found for it.
I'd appreciate if you give it a read through and post any feedback to my TP. I'll have the article watch listed so I may make periodic tweaks to the grammar as others add to it, just to keep it all organised. Blackmane (talk) 15:43, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Certainly, going for FA status would be a great idea. Even if it doesn't pass, there'll be a better idea of what needs to be improved . Blackmane (talk) 08:40, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
This would be the first time an article I've worked on has gone to FAC, so it's new to me too :) Blackmane (talk) 21:24, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! same goes for your work too! Blackmane (talk) 09:59, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

The article Masood Ali Khan has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

Buddhism and violence‎

Hi Omer123hussain. I've had to remove the section on Myanmar because it seems that most, if not all, was directly copied from online news sources. This creates a couple of problems - the text reads like newspaper writing, rather than encyclopedic text, and, more importantly, it is direct copyright violations. I have no problems at all if you'd like to rewrite it, but unfortunately we'll need to leave it out of the article while you do. I'm happy to leave it in the history for now, though, so you can get at the references. - Bilby (talk) 14:53, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but it doesn't work that way. If you copyedit the text that is now in the article, you will create derivative work, which is also a potential copyright violation. The best we can do is copy the sources from the text over to the talk page, and start from them, rather than working from what is in the article. I'm happy to do that, if it will assist. - Bilby (talk) 15:07, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Hi. I'm not sure why you can't work from the version in history, which I was happy to leave for you. Adding back extensive copyright violations, even if only to rewrite them, is always a problem. - Bilby (talk) 16:14, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Hyderabad fac

Although the fac has been archived due to lack of response, the good thing is overall it had a positive note, with Casliber cautiously supporting it. If you feel ok, you can go ahead and re-nominate it, as mentioned by the fac delegate.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:31, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

FAC comments

Please attend to all the comments on the images, and ammend as needed. If unable to correct, you can simply remove the image, as you have already done with the airport image. Then, of course, provide an update in the FAC. I personally don't think you have to re-do the reference style; it abides by MoS, even though not the best style. Let's see what the reviewer says afterwards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 20:50, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

There are many more instances in which the title of the book is linked to a general google book entry (not the specific page number). You need to remove those, too. For example, in current version, Masud Hussain Khan's book under reference 2, reference 3, reference 12 etc.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:36, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your instant actions; any fixed those issues :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 04:09, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

While replacing ro template, you did a mistake. For single pages, use only p. For page ranges or multiple pages, use pp. for example, p.8 or p.356 but pp.32–46 and pp.54, 78.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:53, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Err, I'm not sure what to make of this.

Hi again, while patrolling I came across this in the Indian railways page and not sure what to do about it. Just take a look at this: Template:INRConvert, if you haven't noticed it yet, this template's output is this "{{INRConvert|1}} || 1 (1.3¢ US) ". 'USD' is an external link to http://www.filmznews.com/! Do something! either I've come across a really big case of spamming or there's something I just don't get. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 18:42, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

EDIT: Okay, somebody restored it back to normal it seems...phew. I have NO IDEA what just happened, 30 minutes back the template clearly showed a spam link. Now, nothing; even the history section of the template is undisturbed. :O -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 20:01, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Hyd for tfa

Yes of course the article can be placed for tfa. The primary requirement is to create a succinct blurb. I will look into it later. You may even start to write a blurb in your user space, to be later edited by me and then submitted for tfa. I don't think there is any specific date that we can try, do you? Any date should be fine.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:33, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Possible blurb

Charminar
Hydearabad is the capital and largest city of the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Occupying 650 square kilometres (250 sq mi) on the banks of the Musi River, it had a population of 6.8 million in 2011 with a metropolitan population of 7.75 million, making it India's fourth most populous city and sixth most populous urban agglomeration. Established in 1591 CE by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, fifth sultan of the Qutb Shahi dynasty of Golkonda, Hyderabad remained under the rule of the Qutb Shahi dynasty until 1687, when Mughal emperor Aurangzeb conquered the region and the city became part of the Mughal empire. In 1724, Asif Jah I, a Mughal viceroy, declared his sovereignty and formed the Asif Jahi dynasty, also known as the Nizams of Hyderabad. The Nizams ruled the princely state of Hyderabad in a subsidiary alliance with the British Raj for more than two centuries. In 1948, the Nizam signed an Instrument of Accession with the Indian Union. Historically, Hyderabad was known for its pearl and diamond trading centres. Industrialisation attracted major Indian manufacturing, research and financial institutions to the city, while the formation of an information technology Special Economic Zone by the state agencies attracted global and Indian companies to set up operations. The emergence of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in the 1990s and the formation of Genome Valley earned it the title "India's pharmaceutical capital". The Telugu film industry is based in Hyderabad. Places of interest include Chowmahalla Palace, Charminar and Golkonda fort. Hyderabad has several museums such as Salar Jung Museum, Nizam Museum, and AP State Archaeology Museum as well as bazaars such as Laad Bazaar, Madina Circle, Begum Bazaar and Sultan Bazaar. Hyderabadi biriyani and Hyderabadi haleem are examples of the distinctive culinary products of the city.(Full article...)

You can submit this to WP:TFA/R. I don't think any specific date is needed. The TFA requests have a point system. Hyderabad has following points: 4 for being a geography vital article, and 1 for you being the requestor (you are the major contributor, and you do not have any FA appearing in main page. So, total 5 points.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:13, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Main Page appearance: Hyderabad

This is a note to let the main editors of Hyderabad know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on September 19, 2013. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask Bencherlite (talk · contribs). You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/September 19, 2013. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Charminar

Hyderabad is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Located along the Musi River, Hyderabad has a population of 6.8 million, making it the fourth-largest city in India. Established in 1591, Hyderabad was ruled by the Qutb Shahis for a century before falling under Mughal rule. In 1724, Mughal viceroy Asif Jah I created his own dynasty of nizams by establishing the State of Hyderabad, which ultimately became a princely state based in the city during the British rule. Relics of Qutb Shahi and Nizam rule remain visible today, with the Charminar (pictured)—dating from the city's founding—coming to symbolise Hyderabad. That legacy is also evident in the city's distinctive cuisine, which includes Hyderabadi biriyani and Hyderabadi haleem. Hyderabad has historically been known as a pearl and diamond trading centre. Today, due to the Telugu film industry, it is also the country's second-largest producer city of motion pictures. The formation of an infotech special economic zone has attracted firms from around the world, while the emergence of biotech industries in the 1990s has led to the title "Genome Valley" alongside the city's traditional status as the City of Pearls. No problem, I have a small question regarding the Hyderabad article...how come it was decided to use British English (or is the template wrong?), not Indian English as per WP:ENGVAR? -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 19:45, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
@Ugog Nizdast: sorry for delay in reply, comming to your question: As there is option to use either English, and British English vocabulary is very much similar to Indian English, so making it more convineant for all readers we moved with B/English. Regards :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 22:31, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Indian English is a quite undefined entity, and lacks well-established rules (compared to British or American English), so difficult to apply in articles.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:44, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
That's interesting, now the Indian English template seems less useful to me and explains why so many Indian FAs don't have it. Thanks both of you, Ugog Nizdast (talk) 08:22, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hey!

Hey there! I'm Harsha and I'm interested in making articles related to Hyderabad richer. I primarily work with maps and can help populate the associated articles with locator maps, thematic maps etc. I could also contribute to some of the articles. Would love to get in touch to see if I can help with anything.

Speedy deletion nomination of Smart shoe

Hello Omer123hussain,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Smart shoe for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. scope_creep 10:14, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Your DYK nomination of Adaptive Compliant Trailing Edge (ACTE)

Hi, the maximum allowed length of a DYK hook is 200 characters, but the one you supplied is 322, excluding "(pictured)" which you should add, but doesn't count towards the 200. The hook will have to be edited or replaced with a shorter one. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 08:10, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Update: I trimmed it a little bit, but it's still 263, which is still too long. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 08:20, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hyderabad History (Name)

Hey! I see that you removed the founding of Golkonda from the infobox. I just wanted to let you know, that it should go back. If you look at the Ahmedabad and Delhi wikipedia pages, they show the first names, and first settled dates. It's also important to the page. Hyderabad was existing as Golkonda under the Qutb Shahis, and the Qutb Shahis extended the city, and renamed it Hyderabad. If you don't mind, can we please put that back? I'd like to hear your input. Hammad.511234 (talk) 22:10, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Hi Hammad.511234 it nice to see that you are interested in editing Hyd and appreciate your gesture.
Hyderabad was established as a new city near Golconda, it is not an extension/rename of Golconda. If at all you feel it should be discussed, instead of info box we can mention it in history section. Delhi and Ahmedabad are not FA so do not follow those, because they all need to go lot of c/e assessments, rather you may refer Mangalore and Kolkata.

I see your point, but Golkonda now sits right in the middle of Hyderabad. I really think it should be in the page. Hammad.511234 (talk) 15:07, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

Hyderabadi Cuisine

Hey! I noticed you added information on Telangana food from the Hyderabad wiki page, and put it on the Hyderabadi cuisine page. I'm pretty sure the page deals with the cuisine of the Hyderabadi Muslims, and not the city of Hyderabad. I was wondering if I should create another page for the cuisine of Hyderabad, or leave the one on the city page. Best regards. Hammad.511234 (talk) 15:04, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi Hammad.511234 (talk · contribs), there is already a page with the name Hyderabadi cuisine, you shall go ahead to add and expand the article as it requires lot of improvement. Regards :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 06:47, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)
