Kdkatpir2's possible return[edit]

Hi, just letting you know as you were the one who originally blocked Kdkatpir2, and because I have recently been involved in a dispute/been attacked by the user in question, meaning it would be improper for me to act, but I believe (a belief shared with another user) that I am me93 (talk · contribs) is Kdkatpir2. For evidence, I refer you to IAM93's contributions, Kdkatpir2's contributions and this deletion log. This looks fairly clear cut to me now AstroHurricane001 has pointed it out, but I will leave it in your hands. J Milburn (talk) 18:52, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, I've been very busy lately (in particular, I am in the middle of a big trial), so it might be best to direct this to another admin. --Nlu (talk) 22:52, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the situation is serious enough yet. If it continues, let me know, but this really feels like something that can/should be talked out in a WP:RFC. --Nlu (talk) 05:05, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

67.79.148.42 is vandalizing again[edit]

I see you blocked 67.79.148.42 for three months. Well, he/she/it is back at it: Special:Contributions/67.79.148.42. Thanks for checking on it. --Jeremy Butler 20:09, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Since it's a shared IP (for a church, probably a church school), and the vandalized article is not the same article as before, it might not be the same person. I've put another warning, and if it happens, let me know and I'll block. --Nlu (talk) 22:21, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Xiongnu[edit]

Hi. I've seen you have some knowledge about the subject so please take a look at the Xiongnu article. I just seen that there is an edit war ongoing from jan 2007, started with "An anonymous IP has proposed an addition to the first paragraph of the article suggesting that Xiongnu people may "the progenitors of Turkic peoples." The first paragraph of an article is extremely important and I suggest that this speculative statement not be included unless more reliable WP:RS sources can be found. The sources given do not satisfy this requirement in my opinion... Nposs 05:15, 31 January 2007" as can see more on Talk:xiongnu#Xiongnu_and_Turkic_people. His IP addresses 58.107.54.158, 58.107.52.201. (He vandalise also for ie. the Hun and the Yabgu articles, but in these I didn't take part as yet.) From since time it became ever worse. The matter is that this anon user(s) makes the stand all time, that the Xiongnu is Turks in the first sentence of the article, which is a totally unprovable statement, since the Turks appeared in the Chinese sources first in 542 AD, as we can see in Göktürks article on etimology. So that Xioungnu is Turks is a totally nonsense. Many users have reversed his editions many times to no effect. We have also tried to be NPOV and put a disputed template, until it is resolved, but it was useless too. He deletes all the contrarian opinions all times, and putting back his original. So since you are an admin, please make the article to temporary semi-protection first (at the status of en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Xiongnu&oldid=233911319) or make some suggestion, what can we do against it. Thx, and apologize for taking your time. Dzsoker (talk) 11:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see here that I am being accused of being a vandal, whereas if you see the edits of the Xiongnu article, all I am doing is making sure that the information is according to the references. All information there is supported by the references which consist of published books or articles, but the user Dzsoker thinks in his own 'opinion' that these are not reliable. I've tried to be reasonable by changing the wording and sentence structure to also support his information but he disregards this and just edits the article according to his opinion only without providing references and rearranging referenced information according to his ideas. As I've said earlier all I am doing is making sure the information is what it is according to what the references provide, I am not vandalising but just trying to improve an article of interest to a higher standard in Wikipedia as you should be able to see from my edits. Thank you very much. Cheers. 58.107.52.201 (talk) 12:57, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have insufficient expertise in the area (I wouldn't say per se "insufficient knowledge" as I have my own opinions based on my studies of Chinese history on this, but am really not an expert) to tell just how speculative the statement is, but it does have speculative parts to it.

More importantly, though, Wikipedia is a cooperative project that relies on people working together, not unilaterally, and reaching consensus by discussion, not by edit-warring. Edit warring is not vandalism, and yet it can be just as destructive as vandalism. What I am going to do is to put a semi-protection on the article. 58.107.52.201, if you have sources that support your proposed language, please cite and quote them in discussion, and I am sure that other editors will consider them. (I will suggest, however, tone down the inflammatory rhetoric. Wikipedia is not about nationalism or anti-nationalism; it's about building an encyclopedia.) --Nlu (talk) 13:43, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When you say inflammatory rhetoric and nationalism and anti-nationalism, if you are talking about some of the comments in the Xiongnu discussion pages under the "Xiongnu and Turkic people", those nationalistic comments were not made by me they were from other unregistered IPs. I never had a nationalistic agenda or whatever. My aim was to keep information in the article as according to the published references that were provided, thats it. Cheers. 58.107.52.201 (talk) 14:12, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, this may help. And 58.10... come on talk page to continue this discussion there with the others, quote your references' original sentences by word as I'll mine, so we can reach a consensus. Dzsoker (talk) 14:43, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfD[edit]

Slow Motion (Third Eye Blind). Can it be deleted, Nlu? (There are no pages that use the redirect now, and it's an unlikely search item.) Also, hi! :) It's been a while since I've last come by this place. Qwerty (talk) 15:59, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that it's better to leave the redirect there -- redirects are "cheap," and so I think we should leave any possible combinations unless the redirect itself poses a problem. Good to hear from you. :-) --Nlu (talk) 16:37, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting administrative assistance[edit]

Hey, Nlu, it's been a while. I've got problems with an anon user at the Vin Diesel article. He keeps reverting a vandalism. I thought somebody would have handled it by now, but nothing so far. Think you could lend some admin muscle to the argument when you get a chance? Cheers. Gamer Junkie T / C 16:27, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've semi-protected it. --Nlu (talk) 03:55, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. The IP's been temporarily banned, but semi-protection will be very helpful once the ban is lifted. Gamer Junkie T / C 04:12, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You blocked user 24.70.95.203 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) in January. Yet today I find the IP for this machine, 70.74.100.206 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), seems to be included in this block. I had a similar problem with a different IP blocked last month. Between that time and this I have edited successfully. This is my girl friend's machine and sometimes I don't login if it is a small edit. Why does this keep happening?

Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by AMCKen (talkcontribs)

I can't tell. My guess is that someone else used the IP and got an non-anon-only block which then carried over to you when you used both IPs. --Nlu (talk) 00:58, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
