Intercultural competence[edit]

Hi there Nipporica, and thanks for your edits on the intercultural competence article. I'm afraid that I reverted your additions that discussed Cultural Detective, as it looks like it might be trying to promote the website rather than including it as an encyclopaedic part of the topic. If you haven't already, you should probably read Wikipedia's policy on not being for promotional purposes, and also the guidelines for external links. If you have any more questions after you have read through those, I'll be happy to answer them here, as I'll be watching this page. All the best. — Mr. Stradivarius 08:55, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for helping me to learn. I'm new to all this. Are you the main editor on the intercultural competence page? It is a good start, but it is really lacking in updated sources. Only citing Hofstede in cultural differences is a glaring oversight which I was trying to help rectify. Not sure why you feel a link to a graphic and an article are promotional, but ok. Yes, I've read the articles you note above, but as with anything this is a learning curve. Nipporica (talk) 12:58, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not the main editor on the page (and of course, no-one "owns" Wikipedia articles), but I have had it on my watchlist for a while. It is not very active at all, and could probably do with more sourcing, a rewrite, more points of view - in short, it is crying out for attention. I'm no expert in the subject, and so if you can give me a good reason why including Cultural Detective would benefit the article (as opposed to benefiting the Cultural Detective business itself) then I'll be happy for it to go in. If you also want to give the article a general update in the process, it would be very noble of you and a benefit to Wikipedia. Let's talk about this on Talk:Intercultural competence, and try and build a consensus there. Thanks — Mr. Stradivarius 13:59, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Cultural Detective, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
