Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Newdigate. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Simon Lee (academic), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DuncanHill (talk) 10:26, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning DuncanHill, thank you for drawing my attention to the guidance, which I am aware of. I am not an employ of the subject of the page, nor am I Professor Simon Lee or a relative. My edits refer specifically to referenced content or to remove what appears to be personal opinion not supported by verification.
Thanks again.

Are you a colleague, a friend, or otherwise connected to him? And are you also User:Newdigate whose edits to the article are very similar to yours? DuncanHill (talk) 10:40, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Again thank you, I am well aware for the potential for conflicts of interest, but as I have already indicated my interest is in reflecting better cited material within this wiki or to address unsupported comments. I have no idea who else makes edits to the article, nor for that matter am I interested to be honest.
once again thanks.

So, for the record, User:Newdigate and User:Sebastian.newdigate12 are the same person - that is why Sebastian.newdigate12 is replying on the Newdigate talk page, and you do not deny a connexion with Simon Lee. DuncanHill (talk) 11:37, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I miss your point. As far as I am aware I am the only Sebastian.newdigate12, I had a change of email address some time ago, so I suspect so. I am not sure why having known the subject is of relevance, but professionally our paths have crossed over the years and I respect work he has undertaken particularly in Northern Ireland - though my interventions today are purely based upon cited material within the wiki, not personal opinion. This is the user talk page for User:Newdigate. Why are you, User:Sebastian.newdigate12, replying on it? And read WP:COI - it does not only cover being the subject or a relation or employee. DuncanHill (talk) 11:50, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
