revert of Commodore PET category for Space invaders?[edit]

Hi Namcokid47, you deleted my addition of the Commodore PET games category for Space Invaders. I am just wondering why? It was one of the most prominent games for the PET, probably the only game that reached arcade quality on that system. Karawane 71 (talk) 08:26, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted it because there was a lack of any reliable source that showed it was indeed released for the system. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 16:59, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is it that the categories apply to officially licensed ports only? The PET version does not display a copyright notice. I have no idea if it was officially licensed. However, it exists and is very close to the original, with attract mode and the invader upturning the Y - much more faithful than many other ports. By the way, you can easily google the PET version, e.g. here here What other kind of proof is needed? So, can I just set the category again? Karawane 71 (talk) 21:45, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, if it isn't officially licensed then it shouldn't be in the article.... Namcokid47 (Contribs) 22:44, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Maybe, I will add a few words in the paragraph where the unofficial clones are mentioned, if I find an appropriate citation somewhere. Thanks anyway! Karawane 71 (talk) 08:36, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Soldier Blade[edit]

On 15 February 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Soldier Blade, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that several mechanics of the TurboGrafx-16 game Soldier Blade were mistakenly changed due to miscommunication between the designer and staff? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Soldier Blade. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Soldier Blade), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Beatmania IIDX[edit]

Hi, I'm Aya Syameimaru! I recently improved Beatmania IIDX (video game), so here's the difference between revisions: Before and after. I want it to be GAN. Aya Syameimaru 文々。新聞 13:20, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but this is still a long way from becoming a GA. There's a concerning lack of any reception from actual publications, so at them moment I feel it actually fails Wikipedia's notability guidelines and shouldn't have an article at all. There's also a few unreliable/questionable sources, a rather awkward page structure, and a severe lack of sources in the gameplay. I noticed that you already submitted it as a GAN, so my advice is to delist it from the GAN list and really crack down on the Reception. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 19:21, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, now I removed the GA nominee template. It's no longer a GAN. Aya Syameimaru 文々。新聞 19:37, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't looked for reviews myself, but the Hardcore Gaming 101 article is a retrospective which counts as reception, so you can at least say what HG101 did and didn't like about it. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 19:39, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pac-Man plans[edit]

Since the discussion about the featured and good topic proposal over at WT:VG (I admit that I might have come off as overzealous when I did the proposals), I’ve been thinking about working on the main Pac-Man page and improve it to GA or FA status. Screenshots in infoboxes[edit]

Please stop removing arcade screenshots from their respective pages. There is no rule against having screenshots in infoboxes; Template:Infobox video game states to "Avoid screenshots" and expresses that in the case of arcade games, flyer art is preferred, but screenshots are not outright forbidden. I personally didn't add flyers to the articles because I don't own flyers of the games and ripping images of them off the internet for use on the article feels wrong to me. I added the screenshots in lieu of having nothing to represent the game; if you're going to delete them, please at least replace them with something else. A lot of the games you deleted screenshots for are obscure and having a visual representation is very important. Waxworker (talk) 18:15, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your edits removing screenshots from the pages in question due to the lack of a response before the images would be automatically deleted. I imagine you may delete them again; if you're going to do that please at least replace them with something else, as that's primarily what I take issue with. Waxworker (talk) 21:42, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Choro-Q MX-5 Roadster ND.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Choro-Q MX-5 Roadster ND.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jonteemil (talk) 15:00, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Sim Drive[edit]

Hello, Namcokid47. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Sim Drive".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Opened but unstarted GA reviews[edit]

Namcokid47, you opened five new GA review pages between March 25 and April 9, and have yet to begin the reviews on any of them. Right now there's a backlog drive going on through the end of May, and each nomination you claim without actually beginning it means those nomination aren't available to be picked up by other reviewers who, right now, have time on their hands, and could potentially review them while you're busy with other things.

I'm hoping you will refrain from opening any additional reviews until the five you've already claimed are well under way, and you might want to consider putting one or more of those back into the pool for one of the many active reviewers. Thank you for your consideration. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:44, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Late response, but I'll get through the rest of my GANs by the end of the day today. Sorry for the holdup, it's easy for me to get distracted with side projects and things that are happening outside of Wikipedia. I'll be more careful about this in the future. Thank you. NegCon[edit]

The reason I added in those edits into the page is:

  1. V-Rally is developed in France and was originally published by Infogrames.
  2. Naughty Dog isn’t a publisher, they’ve only developed games.

That’s why I did those edits. Luigitehplumber (talk) 10:28, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I would just give you an advice to be calm through this AfD. It won't work out this time, but it could be always renominated in few months or so for other opinions (or more if it gets lucky). I support your nomination and understand your frustration, like my comment in that AfD says. Regards, Jovanmilic97 (talk) 20:37, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Renominating the same article until you get the result you want is Wikipedia:Gaming the system. Perhaps you could instead just deal with the articles you created that have no references at all such as Field Goal (video game) or no valid references such as ZunZun Block. I was curious why you were so determined to delete an article so looked at what you had created and found you had one you created deleted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/X-Day (video game). Did you then start to go around and try to delete other people's articles? If you want to delete things so badly why not go through all those you created [1] and eliminate those that can't be sourced to anything. Dream Focus 23:22, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • (talk page watcher) Jovanmilic is right. Don't let it frustrate you. Also don't be bothered by DF's bludgeoning and bullying. I don't think they've ever voted "delete" a single time at AfD. JOEBRO64 00:01, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dream Focus, to be fair, Namcokid created those 2 articles 3 years ago, and he/she could have changed in editing since then (as you can see by lots of GAs nominations recently). I will check these two myself right now, and see what I can do with them. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 07:49, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly I had to redirect per WP:ATD ZunZun Block, it definitely doesn't pass WP:GNG. P.S. Gotta say that the AfD turnaround was kinda shocking, didn't see it coming. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 08:05, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ace 3 reminder[edit]

Just to drop a reminder. I can extend the hold period a little, if Wikipedia allows it. Is there any prospect of the GA concerns being addressed in the near future? I realise there are a lot of bits in there, but they are points that I feel need to be addressed. If you can't get to it soon, it may be best to fail it in its current condition so you can improve the article at your leisure. --ProtoDrake (talk) 19:44, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Radar Scope release date & Copyright Encyclopedia reliability[edit]

Now I don't want to just pester you, by just undoing your edits, so I came here to talk. So I realize, that this source doesn't seem all too reliable but let me just prove it to you it is: For one, based on what the website says, and what it's similar pages are their information isn't user moderated or uploaded, and it seems to be an unorganized database of information. And so far that theory is being backed up. Here's some information that the website has gotten right with the other sources to boot.

http://www.copyrightencyclopedia.com/zelda-ii-the-adventure-of-link-by-nintendo-company-ltd/ Donkey kong|Date of Publication: July 9, 1981. Now this matches the date on wikipedia closely. But this source also has information on the patent, Donkey Kong's being U.S. Copyright Reg. No. PA0000115040 (supplemented by PA0000547470) which is properly registered on the website. Other accurate dates are: Donkey Kong|Date of Publication: June 3, 1982| Series: Game & Watch--multi screen ; DK-52. Not only does this match this source: https://web.archive.org/web/20181130000851/http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~pinwhiz/g%26w.htm (which is used as a source on Wikipedia) but it also matches the "Nintendo no." and the Game & Watch series. Same thing with: Game & watch--Donkey Kong, Junior|Date of Publication: October 26, 1982. Referring to the New Wide Screen version. Fire|Date of Publication: December 4, 1981|Series:Game & Watch--wide screen ; FR-27. https://assets.catawiki.nl/assets/2018/9/3/1/2/7/12756905-5567-4dcf-b7ee-d248c9472b96.jpg This image shows the same "Nintendo no." Turtle bridge|Date of Publication: February 1, 1982|Series:Game & Watch--wide screen ; TL-28. https://live.staticflickr.com/7391/9017988241_8a81821c8f_b.jpg This image also shows the same "Nintendo no." Mario Brothers|Date of Publication: March 14, 1983|Language: Title on synopsis: Game & Watch multiscreen--Mario Brothers. Title on instruction booklet: Game & Watch multi screen--Mario Brothers. Game & Watch Tabletop--Mario's Cement Factory|Date of Publication: April 28, 1983

http://www.copyrightencyclopedia.com/tabletop-marios-cement-factory-game-package-by-nintendo-of/ Dr. Mario 64|Date of Publication: April 9, 2001|Title: Dr. Mario 64 : model no. U/NUS-NN6E.|Application Title: U/NUS-NN6E-USA. https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Mario-64-Nintendo/dp/B00005AQRH Cartridge has appropriate model no. Note: This entry is about the instruction booklet too. Mario Tennis|Date of Publication: November 1, 2000. Game Boy Color Japanese instruction booklet Mario Tennis|Date of Publication: July 21, 2000. Nintendo 64 Japanese instruction booklet Nintendo game boy advance|Date of Publication: March 21, 2001|Application Title: Super Mario advance; AGB-AMAJ-JPN. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Mario-Advance-1-2-3-4-Set-GBA-Nintendo-Gameboy-Advance-Japan-USED-/323755009899 This image shows correct serial code on Japanese cartridge F-Zero for game boy advance|Date of Publication: March 21, 2001|Application Title: F-Zero maximum velocity; AGB-AFZJ-JPN. https://pocketmedia.ign.com/media/news/image/gbausa/gbacart.jpg This image also shows the correct serial code as the site lists.

Keeping these all these in mind, these are only 2 pages on this website and it shows a bunch of specific and accurate information on a variety of Nintendo games, so i think it's safe to say that this website is an accurate source for at least the Japanese release. Also I would go into the edit section to read this better Thank You, --MontztheMan (talk)

Other wikis are generally unacceptable to use as a Wikipedia source. Not to mention that there's a lot of assumption (they *might* have released it on this day, they *might* have done this, maybes, mights, I thinks) and no concrete evidence. Lots of your arguments are you trying to compare completely unrelated games to show "well *these* came out on the same day, so maybe Radar Scope did as well". That's called original research which isn't acceptable. I generally see no use in this being a source and I'm gonna restore the page back to the previous revision. You're free to take this source to the WikiProject and see what others think of it. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 22:54, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, but still on the topic of Radar Scope's release date, here's the information for the Copyright by the United States Copyright Office: https://cocatalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?v1=1&ti=1,1&Search%5FArg=radar%20scope&Search%5FCode=TALL&CNT=25&PID=Z2cbcowceAf5YObkV9zfGZbkWFn&SEQ=20200506222703&SID=1, according to this, the publication date is October 8, 1980. And according to the same website, "According to the statute, 'Publication is the distribution of copies or phonorecords of a work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending... Generally, publication occurs on the date on which copies of the work are first made available to the public." https://www.copyright.gov/help/faq-definitions.html. Does the United States Copyright Office count as a reliable source for information? Does using their "Search Copyright Records" feature and citing a record pulled from their public catalog count as proper citation? I understand that Copyright Encyclopedia is not a reliable source of information, but does this source count as reliable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MontztheMan (talkcontribs) 02:41, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sakura Wars (1996 video game)[edit]

Hello again. So, it turns out that my FAC on Sakura Wars unfortunately didn't work out. As per Ian Rose's suggestion, I would like to talk over the situation regarding the Reception section in the article before I promote it to FAC. I can agree that there are some problems with the reception section. Any thoughts on how to improve it before I take it to FAC again? Good Article advice[edit]

Hey, I saw you checked in on some of the Star Control discussion, particularly the part about the Ur-Quan character. I noticed you've done a lot of excellent GA work, and I'm taking your comment about the Ur-Quan article as some humble advice. I'd rather hear it from you before the GA reviewer quick-fails the nomination, and I'm good to keep working on it. Was your main concern the reception section? Is there an appropriate length, or some other content goal I should aim for? Shooterwalker (talk) 15:29, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

NeGcon[edit]

Just wanted to say nice work on this article. I noticed a while back that it needed a lot of work but didn't know nearly enough about the subject to really fix it up. You edits are well-written and the table of games supported is a much appreciated addition.--Martin IIIa (talk) 01:36, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. This one was out of my comfort zone a bit as I had no idea how to structure an article for a game controller, but I think I've made great progress so far. I've planned to take this to GAN, but I struggled to find some good reception for it and moved on to other things. Maybe I'll try it again if I find some more.
