Overwriting of timestamps

Hi, I noticed that some of your edits, such as this one, overwrote an IP user's existing signature and timestamp with your own signature and a newer timestamp. If you are, essentially, claiming that the IP user in question was you, editing while logged out, then it is fine to replace the signature, but please do not also replace the timestamp. Doing so reduces the comprehensibility of the discussion thread, which rests not only on being able to see who said what, but also when they said it. Please could you restore the original timestamps? Yes, that was me and I have no idea how do this, I just used the `~ ~ ~ ~` markup as suggested on the edit page. MrFlowerpot (talk) 08:48, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Fair enough. Ideally, instead of deleting both the signature and the timestamp and replacing them with ~~~~, you would have deleted only the signature and replaced it with ~~~. (See Wikipedia:SIGN#Other_options.)

At this point, i.e. with the edits already made, the path to rectification requiring the fewest clicks/keystrokes would probably be for you to self-revert each of the relevant edits, and then to replace just the sig with ~~~.
