Saskatchewan[edit]

Hello there. I would be interested in combining with you to try to pursue a new Saskatchewan in Popular Culture article under a new name. Possibly as was suggested in the delete list, there were other naming verities. Sorry for the lateness of my reply. Have been nose to the grindstone on some other articles as well. I feel the same as you. I am trying and trying to round up votes to improve articles, but seems like when an article is to be deleted, people flock in like crazy, it is so terribly terribly weird. Can't start tonight though, will get back to you. I found the article only after it was short listed for deletion, even though I am trying to catch up to the Sk articles and tag them with a WP SK banner to help them come together and become easier to find. I thought the article was so interesting, as I have been trying to find SK web articles (for genealogy/historical) purposes for about the last 7 years...when I started nothing available, not really too too much online, and now it is much much easier, and it was awesome to see the compilation of SK making it into the popular mainstream in so many places as the article had started and listed.... Thank you for the note, and I will keep in touch. SriMesh | talk 04:32, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Saskatchewan in popular culture[edit]

Hello there. The notes about Saskatchewan in popular culture would have a home on wiki quotes. The quotations from songs, etc in popular culture are the quotes, and their respective references, and the quotes can have a notes section to say why the quote is about Saskatchewan. Woo Hoo! The Saskatchewan page is somewhat started albeit so far without notes just quotes. Did you happen to save the article Saskatchewan in popular culture on a sand box page? SriMesh | talk 03:46, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Will also reply at the Saskatchewan talk page. My first wikiquote article was British Columbia There are some interesting comments on its nomination for deletion page, which have helped to fine tune it somewhat, so by reading all of these, it gives some idea with which to go. The British Columbia has some notes about quotes which do not say British Columbia, but rather mention a placename or area. It is good to hear from you again also!!! There are different ways to organise the quotation page, either the BC way or SK way which are both started. Have a bounce around the wikiquote places category for more ideas.SriMesh | talk 04:26, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. The people in popular culture and films/movies from Saskatchewan in popular culture also have a home.... the wikipedia article Culture of Saskatchewan needs them there in the appropriate sub sections and sections. Another Woo hoo!!!  :-) I am doing another double look for the old Saskatchewan in Popular Culture article on my home computer, I thought, also I had it saved, but so far the find files and folder thingie isn't capturing it...:-( SriMesh | talk 05:29, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I didn't find my copy of the file  :-( If you do send it across, I will putter at it for sure, and when you have time you can add/modify also.... I know what you mean about diversifying and what nots. My email is all hooked up into my preferences, if you want to send along your saved version, unless you placed it into your user sandbox. Kind RegardsSriMesh | talk 03:11, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, sorry about that. Did receive it, been puttering at getting the newsletter off, so should putter at the quotes and Etc, tonight. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 01:48, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Basement Tapes[edit]

Hi Moisejp. Thanks for your reply. I suggest you start by posting a message on Bob Dylan Talk page, saying you intend to re-write the The Basement Tapes article and asking others to contribute to this. Then you do the same on Talk page of The Basement Tapes. Then you start to do it. Take it slowly and see it as a long-term project, it will take several weeks. First map out a chronology of the events, using Heylin's or Sounes's biography to cite references. Then start to input critical ideas about the significance of the songs, perhaps using Marcus's Invisible Republic as a reference. That's my suggestion. I've recently re-written two Dylan-related article, Albert Grossman and All Along the Watchtower, because they were terrible articles with serious lack of references and plagiarism problems, about interesting subjects. I'd like to do Freewheelin' Bob Dylan next cos that's such an important album, but, like you, I am short of time. As to how you get The Basement Tapes (Sessions) article deleted, you probably need the help of an Administrator. I've never engaged in this kind of article deletion & merging thing before. I'll try to think if I have encountered a friendly Admin who could advise. Perhaps you should ask for help of an Administrator when you post a notice about what you're up to on the respective Talk pages? best wishes Mick gold (talk) 16:42, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Moisejp — just a note to say that I've seen your re-writing & re-editing of The Basement Tapes and you're doing an excellent job. It's getting better all the time, as the Beatles used to say. It would be great if we could slowly but surely bring the quality of the other Dylan-related Wikipedia articles up to a high standard. I've had a few days off work so I finally got around to something I had long been thinking about — re-writing & editing & footnoting The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan article. I think it's better now; I have audaciously removed the "This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding reliable references." template. best wishes Mick gold (talk) 08:17, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note[edit]

Hello Moisejp. Thank you for your note. Actually, no apologies are needed as I felt sure that you had thought that I had made an error in my spelling. You weren't to know the humorous (I hope) labels that some of us have applied to these factions. I hope that I added some levity to my edit summary so that you would know that I wasn't angry. While I am here let me add my praise to the work that you and others have done on the page for this theatre. I was made aware of the page a few weeks ago when the ongoing vandalism was happening. Since then I have admired the improvements that all of you have made to the page. I think that it represents the best of what wikipedia is about so again let me offer my thanks. Cheers and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 17:58, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vancouver[edit]

Hi Moisejp, sorry for the late reply; I'm currently just in the process of opening a show. I'll be willing to help you on your process once my schedule clears up. Mkdwtalk 10:22, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period.

Hello[edit]

Bob Dylan[edit]

Hi Moisejp, thanks for your contributions & edits on Dylan article. You put in the footnote for the Ewan MacColl quote in Sing Out! as Robert Shelton, p. 360. I just wanted to check which page you're on. My copy of Shelton is the first edition (published in 1986) and the MacColl quote is on p.313. It's in a sub-section headed 'Heresy Towards What Dogma?'. This is part of Chapter 9, 'Inside The Coliseum' which begins on p. 305. How does that stack up with your version? best wishes Mick gold (talk) 06:54, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Moisejp I'll go with my page numbers, as you suggest, and thanks for the 'It Ain't Me Babe' ref. I've just added a comment on Bjorner to the FARC, including input from Michael Gray. I hope it will persuade people. Yes, I agree combined efforts of editors have been constructive and have improved article and strengthened sources, but it's a never-ending process, isn't it? I hope FARC proceeds smoothly. Looking at the comments that accompany some FARC reviews can be chilling. Thanx & take care Mick gold (talk) 15:36, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More Dylan[edit]

Hi Moisejp, I had the uncomfortable feeling I was playing tag with you on Saturday, re-instating info. My concern is what I tried to spell out on Dylan Talk page. If we simply list release dates of Masked and Anonymous, and Chronicles, Volume One, without any mention of their quality, it's in danger of becoming a bland list of dates. The fact that M&A was savaged by most major critics as an incoherent vanity project, while being praised by England's Poet Laureate as a serious work of art; the fact that Chronicles virtually ignored Dylan's fame in the mid-1960s is surely what makes Dylan Dylan. Otherwise we might as well be writing a biography of John Denver. Also I thought it worth spelling out bookends of No Direction Home. Scorsese is clearly looking at the period from Dylan arriving as total unknown in 1961 to Dylan, now world famous, disappearing in a cloud of mystery after motorcycle crash in 1966 as the crucial years. He's not just looking at years 1961 and 1966. Sorry if we're playing tag. I posted a letter from Michael Gray about Bjorner. Maybe it will have some effect. best wishes Mick gold (talk) 13:17, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Dylan FAR[edit]

Hi Moisejp, thanks for your contributions, Marskell is suggesting it's time to vote at Dylan FAR :) Mick gold (talk) 06:02, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your Dylan suggestion[edit]

Hi Moisejp, Interesting suggestion, forming a Dylan wiki group, but I should warn you I’m a bit of a loner by temperament and not a joiner. One reason I find Wikipedia attractive is you can do as much or as little as you want, depending on your situation. But I have limited time for negotiating structural parameters of organisation. E.g. when I tried to improve The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan article, I spent a lot of time trying to write it better and ref/cite it better, and then I thought I would ask for a rating. A friendly administrator, Moonriddengirl, gave it B class on WP:ASSESS, s/he explained that was the highest it could go without going through a good article assessment & at that stage I decided not to bother. Maybe wrong call. Maybe no right or wrong. But I just felt I wanted to concentrate on writing & editing without jumping through hoops.

On recent Bob Dylan featured article review I enjoyed the way you, Allreet, Warchef, Sillyfolkboy, and I & others all collaborated happily to address the issues posed by FAR. It was an enjoyable sense of camaraderie & as such I’d be happy to be part of a group project, but I’ve got no time to organise anything. For now, you could look at the Freewheelin’ article & I think I’ll have a couple of days off in January & I’ll look at the Basement Tapes article. When you write “it can take weeks to get an article in good shape”, you’re not kidding. E.g. it was a year ago you proposed scrapping The Basement Tapes (Sessions) — I totally agree— and still nothing has happened. I’ll try asking an admin I’ve become friendly with for his advice on this. Best wishes Mick gold (talk) 14:43, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I consulted administrator RHaworth about the 2 Basement Tapes articles and he responded [[1]] with a re-direct that, in a sense, bypasses The Basement Tapes (Sessions). I guess the question now is what to do with the info on all those songs that was in The Basement Tapes (Sessions) ?? Mick gold (talk) 23:35, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
