Response to email[edit]

So there's a couple things that trouble me about your email. I'm going to quote the section here:

you have replaced the "Agni Yoga" article placed into Wikipedia on behalf of the Agni Yoga Society with a redirect to a Living Ethics page, without our knowledge or consent. Please restore the original page at your earliest convenience, or explain why you insist on the redirect, so that we could clarify the issue for Wikipedia administrators.

You claim that the "Agni Yoga" article (was) placed into Wikipedia on behalf of the Agni Yoga Society. Did you solicit the article to be written for you? That is generally frowned upon (see WP:Paid for an ongoing discussion about the issue). Also, anyone is free to edit any article at any time on Wikipedia. Here is a quote from the bottom of any page you edit on Wikipedia:

If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it.

No one needs to notify you about a change in an article, and if you are adamant about creating an article and leaving it untouched, you are not here for the right reasons. Now, having said all that, if you feel there are changes that need to be made to the Living Ethics article, you may suggest them on the talk page, but please assume good faith when making suggestions. Let me know (on this page) if you have any more questions.  [ mad pierrot ]  17:50, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alex, thank you for your response. The Society certainly did not pay for the original article. Also, I'd rather not edit the "Living Ethics" page, as I think it has a right to exist alongside the "Agni Yoga" page in its own form. I need to think about the proper response to your main point, but in the meantime, perhaps you can answer these two questions:

1. Given that the original article was posted several years ago, finding its text and formatting may be a challenge -- is there any way that you could help me find its text, so I could replace the redirect with it? As I said, the History of the "Agni Yoga" page only shows the redirect, no revisions with the original article.

2. Assuming I am able to replace the redirect with the original text (either by reverting to it or posting it anew), what happens if Deodar in turn reverts to his redirect? I'd be keen to avoid a "revert war" but I strongly disagree with his action, and certainly the outcry against it as expressed in messages we received in New York from all over the world cannot be ignored. So what is the right way to address this?

As the original version was found and a reference to it provided in a comment on the Redirect discussion board, I have restored it to the Agni Yoga page.
