A tag has been placed on Basell Polyolefins, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hut 8.5 15:22, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Basell Polyolefins[edit]

It is perfectly possible to have an encyclopedia article about a commercial product which is not advertising. The article merely has to comment on the product and not endorse it. The article you started contains language which is clearly promotional for the subject. You should also use reliable third party sources for an article, such as a newspaper, rather than getting all your information from the company website. If there are no reliable sources available then the article should not be on Wikipedia. See Wikipedia: Notability (companies).

Given that you work for this company it's advisable not to write an article about it in the first place, as this tends to introduce bias. If your company is worthy of inclusion in this encyclopedia then sooner or later someone else (not affiliated with the company) will write an article about it. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Hut 8.5 17:31, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can't delete it - you have to be an administrator to do that. Given that it's been tagged for deletion it should be deleted by an administrator in the next few hours. Thank you for deciding to improve the article. Hut 8.5 17:43, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
