Norway and high seas fishermen

I'm removing an incorrect and unsourced statement from the section about Norway. See this article and the corresponding discussion page for more information.

Best regards, Dieus (talk) 18:16, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

I have changed it a bit, I hope you're satisfied now. Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:30, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Coat of arms and flag

Havana or no city or province of Cuba has a flag, who created this flag and with what references? there is no reference to it therefore don't add it unless you provide a reliable link. Regarding the coat of arms you also included it is old and too small compared to the new one with higher resolution created by the user HansenBCN. Again the sister cities you added with what reference are you adding them? I've constantly searched and have not found them. Wikipedia is not for you to give your opinion or to add what you like to hear, Wikipedia is to sincerely give information to others. The article is simply too long with useless information, it is suggested to create Architecture of Havana and Transportation in Havana articles. Help clean the page to provide the right information and please give citations to your edits. L'Écolier (talk) 18:24, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

I have answered in the article talk page. I am just against of removing information without a trace. Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:31, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey Mateo...noticed this on my watchlist...Heraldry has long been a hobby of mine. Do you know of any interesting and informative sites???--Buster7 (talk) 02:32, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Buster, what do you mean? About the coat of arms for Habana? There should be info somewhere, but most likely in Spanish. Miguel.mateo (talk) 04:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
oo est, Mateo? (How 'ya doing), the above is not just about the coat of arms for Haban but Heraldry in general. I just thought since your thing was coins maybe you were a good source for Heraldry too. Its kind of a hobby I have. Too busy to really get into it, but interested,--Buster7 (talk) 01:56, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
bien y tu? (I am fine and you?) :)) Honestly no, I am not into Heraldry, but I lived in Habana too long and I do know they have a coat of arms and a flag, the dicussion I got involved in was about Habana in particular. Sorry not being able to help in this topic.
BTW, I forgot to thank you for your direct or indirect help in Euro gold and silver commemorative coins (Belgium), it was promoted to Featured List yesterday. Miguel.mateo (talk) 02:05, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Congrats!!!!--Buster7 (talk) 02:14, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

FLC promotion

Hi Miguel, not a stupid question, not a problem. What happens is that at least 10 days has to go by before promotion/archive can take place. Then, after that period of time has elapsed, if there's no clear consensus either way but work is still being done then I'll leave the nomination open a few more days, call on some of the reviewers who haven't made their opinion clear and hope a clearer consensus can be reached. At the moment there's a bit of work outstanding (as far as I could see) on the list, so I've left it open. It's close to promotion, that's for sure. I'll take a look at it myself later today and see where we go next. My only advice is to deal with comments quickly and get back to the reviewers yourself! The Rambling Man (talk) 07:38, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much, I will ping the reviers right now! Miguel.mateo (talk) 07:53, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
I think you're right - the oustanding comments on the list have now been dealt with. I'll leave it maybe a day more and let the reviewers you've got in touch with get back to you. Then, if nothing else crops up, I'll promote it. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:04, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Great thanks, I already have the second one ready for nomination, but I want to wait for this one to finish. Miguel.mateo (talk) 09:07, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Currently there's nothing stopping you nominating your second list, but I understand if you wish to focus on one at a time. Either way, keep up the good work! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:09, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank a lot, comments like this are the ones that make us to become Wikipedians ;) Miguel.mateo (talk) 09:11, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Now that its a FL we have a template to work with.Kevin hipwell (talk) 14:45, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Definitely, I will propose Austria, since it is almost finished (the different changes proposed in Belgium are almost done) and will continue working on Finland, in parallel. In theory not too many comments should come out of it. Miguel.mateo (talk) 22:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Mateo

Someday, I'd like you to help me move stuff around on my userpage. I like the randomness of it, and I don't mind the white spaces. I'm an artist and it reminds me of how I work on a canvas...here, there, and , finally, everywhere. Ive devised my own understanding of editing images(cut and paste basically) and I change the size and location (left, right, center). but, after that im at the mercy of the program and the width of the screen. I would like to know how to control the location..exactly. I seem to learn best when I can see another editors action/response. The directions at WIkiWorld still leave me dizzy...and Im dizzy enought t--Buster7 (talk) 03:32, 8 July 2008 (UTC)o begin with.

YES...Your BarnStar was deserved...It was NOT a bribe!!!!!LOL--Buster7 (talk) 03:36, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for the barn star, I do appreciate your comments and you have been inspiring me once in a while. After checking your page, I think is the other way around, is me the one that should learn from you how to get my page so beautifully messy. :)) Miguel.mateo (talk) 03:50, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi Miguel. I've left some comments at the FLC but I'm afraid I will probably be withdrawing the nomination as the list is really not ready for FLC. As you can see from my comments, there are a lot of basic grammar errors and a few WP:MOS issues which would be picked up at peer review. Don't be discouraged, all the problems are fixable, but FLC is not the best place for peer review style comments. Give me a shout if you need to talk about this further, or if I can be of any assistance. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:02, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

TRM, thanks a lot for the review. I will withdraw it tomorrow, although I do not have too much confidence that a peer review will help. Honestly, it did not help for the Belgium case. I will fix all the issues you found regardless. Thanks a gain, Miguel.mateo (talk) 15:39, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations on getting what appears to be your first successful WP:FL during the last month. You may want to get involved in our List of the Day/List of the Month experiment. Feel free to help us select next months lists at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/voting/200808 or nominate your list for consideration to be a LOTD in September at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/Nominees/200809.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 21:04, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Viva Europa!

Hola Miguel!

I will copy-edit the article on Austrian coins with great pleasure. You are an interesting man Miguel. I envy your opportunity to experience life with the Japanese. Isn't the world full of interesting people! :)

I really like the text of the article, by the way. It is probably the clearest, purest, easiest-to-read text I've seen at Wiki, bravo!

For all your contributions to Wiki, gracias. Bueno suerte. Alastair Haines (talk) 09:51, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for so many compliments Alastair ... de donde eres? I will be inviting you to the FLC process once I finish with the peer review. Gracias again, Miguel.mateo (talk) 11:02, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Need a Secretary?

Hey vriendt!! If ever you need "secreterial" help, give me a jingle. I'd like to offer my assistance in the wonderful world of English Grammar/Composition. It can be treacherous if your not a "daily user." Don't hesitate to ask.--Buster7 (talk) 14:04, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Look Familiar?

--Buster7 (talk) 18:15, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

This is funy Buster! I do not know exactly what you meant by "secretarial help" but I am in a need of a good copy/edit. Do you think you can help? If so, please check Euro gold and silver commemorative coins (Austria). I am sending it for peer review (other will review it and will tell me their opinion, mainly small grammar stuff) but this process is volunteer and takes long, honestly I do not think we will take too much out of it. But if you can take a look, let me know. Many thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 22:13, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Just a few questions to help me figure out direction I should take...1) Somewhere you mention precints related to the Castle. Not sure what word you are searching for. I dont think precint is correct. 2) Later on down the line, a castle is mentioned. What castle? 3) Re: the good samaritan coin...right now it implies that Jesus has held up, or Robbed, someone and that victim is being supported by the good samaritan. Is Jesus on the horse? Is Jesus the guy on the ground? A good copy editor does his/her best not to change meaning unless meaning is not clear and "a reasonable guess" needs to be made. It does happen, then, that I sometimes misinterpret what is intended. There is somemore editing to do but, for right now, I'm off to work. I hope my edits are satisfying--Buster7 (talk) 11:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Buster, thank you very much, your changes are great, exactly what the article needed. Is quite late for me now, so trying to reply to your questions as fast as I can:
  • 1 ... it refers to buildings, rooms (of the castle) in this case.
  • 2 ... the Ambras Castle, which is the topic of the coin, I think you mean this should be mentioned in the description as well.
  • 3 ... Jesus is neither, maybe follow the link to understand the parable, one stranger helps another, that is the basics of the parable.
I am not sure if I have answered your questions correctly, but I do have an idea that something is wrong for some coins: if you do not read the topic you may not understand the description, and that should be fixed as well. Let me know what you think, and once again, thanks a lot!!! Miguel.mateo (talk) 13:06, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
I finished earlier today, Good luck!--Buster7 (talk) 02:10, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

MyTalk

Hey Mateo...can you give me an editing lesson on my user page and help me figure out how to align images. If you go to my user page...the last 3 images...funnygraph,windmill,octopus...(Under Testing..1..2..3..) I would like them all in the same row rather than a staggered step-down like they are. Also, if you scroll up you will notice that the images are contained in a box that starts at "Meta:babel". Can you remove that box for me please. Since I'm not realy sure of what I'm doing, I spend alot of time retreaving images I like and then loosing or messing them up in the placement process. I'm sure there is an easier way. ANY HELP IN THIS REGARD IS APPRECIATED.--Buster7 (talk) 11:46, 18 July 2008 (UTC) I

No worries, give me some time and I will check that out. I will be out of Wikipedia for a bit over 24 hours, some family business to attend tomorrow Saturday, so on my Sunday morning I will try. Monday is Holiday in Japan, so this should be solved before then. Miguel.mateo (talk) 13:01, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Miguel

I will try to do a full copy-edit over the next few days. – ukexpat (talk) 13:50, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much, indeed very appreciated! Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Miguel, I'm glad to see the effort that you and the other reviewers have put into improving the list. By all means you're welcome to resubmit it to WP:FLC whenever you think it's ready. All the best, The Rambling Man (talk) 07:41, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I am also glad for the same reason. I dropped by to say (five days later, heh) that I might offer my help in a week's time, but it looks like I'm unnecessary anyway. Cheers and good luck with the list. – Scartol • Tok 12:15, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello,

There have been edits to this template that I have reverted. I'm concerned about the 3RR, so if we can work together on undoing any edits before the discussion on removing the image is complete, the 3RR can be averted. Cheers. The €T/C 18:57, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Not a problem, I am sure the editor in question will not go that way; I still do no understand why but I am feeling some level of frustration on his side with the image, which for me looks great. Miguel.mateo (talk) 22:24, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

In that case, put a message to say so on the template's page. Sheesh. Sardanaphalus (talk) 00:52, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

  • I think it is absolutely normal that those big changes are discussed first, particularly when there is a set of editors carefully checking it. You should have seen recent activity in both the template and the talk page. I am not saying that what you did (the content) is wrong, it simply should be discussed. Bring it to the template talk page if you want. Miguel.mateo (talk) 01:08, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Apologies; I operate by WP:BRD, but guess I got upset by just how fast the R occurred in this case. It suggested the amended format had seen nothing more than a momentary glance. If this sort of reversion and its speed is what usually happens here, I do recommend some kind of note is placed on the template page itself (as well as whatever may or may not be on the talkpage) because, no, nothing prompted me to look at the history or talkpage first. As regards the template itself, it's one of hundreds if not thousands and I've since moved on. Sardanaphalus (talk) 17:56, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I understand, it is fine now. You are welcome to come with your proposal and changes in the talk page of the template. We have a few editors closely looking at it. Miguel.mateo (talk) 22:09, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia

Hey Mateo...can you stop by the article Uncyclopedia...my good faith editing is being challenged. Do you know of some admins that are fair-minded and can defend a valid editorial position? I've been accussed of trolling which I think is one of those deflective words (which means its a way of name calling without calling me names). Thanks for your time--Buster7 (talk) 13:04, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Buster, this is serious, but at the same time (IMHO) is such a simple thing to fix. It is 1:25 AM in Japan now, let me help you with this and your page tomorrow morning. Thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 16:26, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your kind words and support. I have discovered Alastair. He is a fine fellow. Also, as a break from the upsetting editing war of the other day, I started to make some humorous entries at Wikipedia:List of cabals. Have a laff on me. Also, byway of a chain of discovery (letting the mouse take me where it wants) I have found some wonderful Heraldry Pages...Wikipedia and elsewhere. I have some ideas to share .... is it OK to email?--Buster7 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Please feel free to mail me, but I am not into Heraldry, more into coins specifically commemorative euro coins. And take it easy with those editors (I've been there) once in a while is easier to just let it go and start something different. Good luck! Miguel.mateo (talk) 03:33, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Cool...Its not about Heraldry, I was expressing ny excitement. Probably like when you find a rare coin that you have searched for.....YIPPEE!!!! also, just now, I changed the name of link re;cabals. Also, my idea concerns http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikiknights (a page I created while still a Wikinewbie) Now....my idea has grown since...my vision for what it could be has enlarged. All for the benefit of Wikipedia and its good faith editors. Please comment. I value your input.--Buster7 (talk) 13:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to bother but I cannot locate your email addy. Can you email me something so that I will have it. thanks--Buster7 (talk) 03:28, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Copyright

A suggestion. Don't worry about the copyright side of things. There are others who can help. That's what team-work is all about.

You're right to put the images up, and to defend your decision. The other party is right to ask questions that really Wiki should have a permanent answer to. But there's no point talking backwards and forwards, neither of you are experts. It needs an outside reliable source to settle things. Relax, there's nothing you can do. It's up to other people.

I'm not an expert myself, but from what I've read and so on, sources that will validate you exist, which is why no-one has removed your images so far. You rightly understand that people are not saying much about this because they're confident it's not an issue. It's just hard to satisfy a questioner that he is in the minority when the majority express their disagreement with him by silence.

Anyway, I should stop worrying about this myself, and spend time copyediting for you! :) The Latin addition today was a nice contribution from someone. Things are fine. You've done great work, there'll be readers who appreciate it. Don't worry! :) Alastair Haines (talk) 08:35, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

It is always refreshing to hear from you, and encouraging to continue being in Wikipedia. Honestly, when one of the editors said that those images should go and the article should be image-less, I thought of quitting. But hearing comments like the one you just made, make me continue and potentially sending another (Finland) for FL review soon. Thanks a bunch! Miguel.mateo (talk) 08:59, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey mateo...how about this from Jibo Wales' page..""And........ finally, I just wanted to throw in that "the Community" must never mean "whoever happens to show up""". "The Community" must always mean "the community of good editors who are dedicated to our mission."--Jimbo Wales (talk) 14:03, 27July 2008 (UTC)...He is talking about you...The Silent Majority will speak if you need them to--Buster7 (talk) 03:41, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
You know that you have been always inspiring, and I will definitely ask you for help if I need it. I am taking it easy with Wikipedia these days because I am really busy at work, I can barely do a few edits per day, way less than I use to do. But my mission of finishing and featuring all the list of all euro coins of all countries in the Eurozone is still there, and I will continue with the help of people like you! Thanks Buster!
