Regarding layout of the Euro gold and silver articles

when we first had the discussion about the layouts your initial suggestion was to have them side by side and restrict the cell width to 350px and have the images at 160px.

Let me work that out at home toght, I have almost all browsers installed in my Mac and PC. My real intention is to display the coins one next to each other, so as I said, there is no much white spaces. So maybe the solution is to set the cell with to 160x2 + alpha (for spacing) (so aorun 350px). When I removed the 180px, then in IE the coins looks next to each other, the other tables I see them one on top of the other. Miguel.mateo (talk) 05:19, 15 April 2008 (UTC).

one of my main concerns with agreeing to this was that the large text in the description caused white space above and below the coin image. In the newer articles I have used short descriptions and I plan to go back on the older articles to do the same, with the reduced description the white space above and below the coins does not occur. If you still agree with your initial suggestion then I will change all the articles to fit that layout. I also will left align the text in the cells because when its center aligned it appears left aligned in FF and centered in IE I think its important that the articles appear the same or as close to one another for all users. I would suggest that for the reasons stated above you should reduce the descriptions on the Austria and Belgium articles. Kevin, did some test on the Austria article, and checked in two computers with different resolution. You were right, one on top of the other looks way better in lower resolution (while one next to the other looks better on higher resolutions). Let me try to find a solution to this problem. Can the HTML tag be put in a wikipedia article?

Generalizing then. Is there anywhere described how to change a document layout based on screen resolutions? Meaning I want two images to show one on top of the other if the resolutions is 1024x768 but one next to the other if the resolution is 1200x1024. Is it possible? The software should automatically do something like that, or at least your browser should. If a line of images will not fit onto one line, then it will wrap those images onto several lines. For example, User:Stwalkerster/Image wrapping demo shows 2 lines of images (a filing cabinet), each line 7 cabinets long. When I resize my browser window, it automatically adapts the length of the line, to say 3 cabinets long. The code to the page is just a single long line of images. I hope this explains a bit. Please check this article, as you can see the images of the two coins are one next to the other, in both High and Low resolutions (using IE) I would like these two images to go one on top of the other on Low resolution displays. That's an issue with Internet Explorer - other browsers display it correctly. The only way I can think of forcing Internet Explorer to display it correctly would be to put it into a table, with one above the other, but this would then always display it like that. Simply put, I don't see a way of fixing this issue, without re-writing Internet Explorer itself. I use Firefox, and have had no problems with it. Euro

Yeh they are and its a good thing. I just hope the UK gets it. Im not sure if it is 100% correct true over Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. I got the info from [[1]]. So I thought that that both parts should correspond, but there are no references for them two. However over sea French territories may have permission. So I don't know if its true. World Cup Euro coins

I do think they are, several countries minted different issues, some of them of really high value. The reason I put it in the "See also" is because they are exactly that a "see also" reading. How about just the comment and no picture? BTW, I believe if I asked in your watch page, this conversation should stay there, but up to you. Just let me know where to continue it. I'm still not convinced that a set of coins is actually notable. I mean, they're just coins. The only thing tying them to the World Cup article is that they have the words "2006 FIFA World Cup Germany" on them. Not notable, IMO. – PeeJay 23:44, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

PeeJay, they are not 'just coins', they are coins specially minted, in very low quantities, and some of them of really high value, with the only objective of celebrating these games. They may not be important to you, but they are for sure for a lot of sport lovers. People around the world collected and bought those special coins, just to remember the games. The fact that these coins exist should be told, it could be a very interested topic to another people (like me in this case). It is just in the "See Also" section, so it does not have a huge impact on the whole article.

As a compromise situation, while I continue putting information about numismatics on Wikipedia, if I reach more than three coins celebrating these games (which I will for sure), I will create a new article just for that. Designs of euro coins

Hi Miguel.mateo, you mentioned in the talk page of Introduction of the euro, that

Hi. Those are displayed in almost every country central bank's web page. I remember I got the images for Estonia and Lituania and a wikipedia administrator told me that those images can not be put here, because of their copyright. The web sites of the central banks for Estonia and Lithuania are http://eestipank.info/frontpage/en/ and http://www.lb.lt respectively, but unfortunately I do not find the pages they used to have with the designs for the euro selection competition. I do have all the designs from Estonia in images in my laptop, and can send them to you if you need them. If you want them, send me a mail through Wikipedia and I will reply to you.

I am located in Japan, so it is the middle of the day for me, almost 1pm right now! Let me know if you need more help, the designs of the "coins to be" would be a very interesting topic. Hello... I made about as good an argument as I could, though I think that my input could be viewed as non-neutral, since my username is Theeuro. If the shortsightedness continues, I recommend pursuing a "Request for comment" by a neutral administrator. You can ask Nightstallion how that works (you can't ask him to do it because he has already commented on the issue). Good luck- I'll keep an eye on the page to see how it is going. Cheers. Another thought: try offering to put the info on Hayden's euro in a separate section called 'Hayden's legacy' or something to that effect. It could go after 'Final years in Vienna'. Also, you might want to go over to Mozart and Beethoven's articles and put information about their respective euro commemorative coins there (and Mozart is on the Austrian 1 euro general circulation coin too...) and see how that goes before continuing with this drama. If it is accepted, cite it as precedent. Think about the other figures that at least the 2 euro coins have commemorated and do the same for them... G-D Henri leaps to mind... Bartolomeo Borghesi, Christopher Columbus, Grace Kelly... you get the idea. It seems like alot of extra work, but it might well be worth it. Thanks mate, such an argument for such a small reference to a commemorative coin. I have tons of samples, but all of the made by me! I can do Beethoven and Mozart, but the same people will revert the changes. Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven are part of a collection "Great Composers", of 50 euros each.

BTW, I am sure you have noticed already, but with another wikipedian we started the collection of articles "Euro gold and silver commemorative coins (<country>)", as you suggested long time ago. We already have almost finished Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Ireland and Spain. what I am currently doing is wikilinking, hence the whole argument of Haydn.
