1860 Munich players[edit]

Hi there from Portugal,

please, it's full name in the intro/storyline (TSV 1860 MUNICH), compression is for box OK? Then again, i'm only editing in three players of your team, the Spanish ones, the rest of them i have never edited in (and it will remain that way).

Thank you, happy editing --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:33, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

thank you for your comment. The clubs full name would be Turn- und Sportvereinigung München von 1860 e.V.. I think we agree so far as to that some sort of abbreviation must be used in the article. Secondly the cities English name is Munich and not München. Bayern is also referred to as Bayern Munich in the English Wikipedia and also the Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French Wikiepdia refer to 1860 combined with their respetive translation of Munich. Concerning the TSV, it is rather uncommon to use such abbreviation in English. Again you could compare it to Bayern Munich, which is usually referred to as such and not FC Bayern Munich in the players articles. I don't see why there should be an exception to the Spanish players (of which 1860 has five) as to how to refer to the club.

  • You have already reverted me, no problem. It stays incoherent (most club names unpiped, 1860 piped), no problem. I do agree with you that it should be "Munich" and not "München" in this the English WP, i was just "guiding" myself by the article's current name.

Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:18, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry for re-inserting the full names again (I still fail to see the logic, all other clubs unpiped except TSV), won't happen again because I have to respect your work and keep this a cool place to work in (I see that you don't like the reasons I present), I promise.

Attentively --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:11, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No worries and thank you. Indeed many German clubs are shortened in articles, for example the city rival Bayern Munich. --MephistoGF (talk) 15:13, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If your view is correct, then you should be able to change the article name, not just the name in player articles. Kingjeff (talk) 21:13, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I started a discussion here. Kingjeff (talk) 06:06, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for May 27[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 Giro d'Italia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Simon Yates (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
