A few tips[edit]

Hi. I have a few tips regarding your contributions:

  • When placing images, please place images below the section heading. Also avoid placing left-aligned images at the same position as a right-aligned one, since this will make text WP:sandwiched into a small column between the two images, which is an undesirable appearance. The same effect happens where left-aligned images clash with infoboxes, so do not place left-aligned images in the lead section of an article.
  • Avoid specifying image sizes in pixels, since doing so will override the user's specified preference. Instead, |upright can be placed in the image syntax to mark narrow images, so that they don't overwhelm the screen. It can also be used to specify relative sizes. E.g. upright=0.8 will make an image appear at 0.8 times the default width, and upright=1.2 will make it larger. This doesn't work in some infoboxe templates, including infobox skyscraper, in which case consider specifying a relatively small size (e.g. 180px) if your image is vertically extended.
  • Also, please avoid duplicating content from other articles if it's not directly relevant to the current subject. It's not necessary to copy content about transport to Pattaya into every neighbourhood article, or to copy the description from the lead of the Pattaya article into every skyscraper in the city. But if you do so, you must provide an attribution notice, in order to comply with Wikipedia's licensing policies. The simplest way is to make a note in edit summary, saying something like, copied content from [[Pattaya]]; see that page's history for attribution. See WP:Copying within Wikipedia for details.
  • The "See also" section should generally only contain links to articles that are not already linked within the article text, so linking to Pattaya when it has been earlier mentioned and linked to is unnecessary.

Hope this helps! --Paul_012 (talk) 05:43, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Many Thanks! I really like the concept of having the information on the skyscraper pages. I noticed your changes to relevant articles. Should I add the attribution note to them (and if, how? since it is already on) or for future items? Meow2021 (talk) 06:09, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For edits already done, you could make a WP:dummy edit to provide the notice, like this. For future items you can just note it in the edit summary when saving the edit. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:12, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disclosing personal connections[edit]

Hi. I noticed that a photo you uploaded, File:Mod Dam 1199 R.jpg, appears to be identical to the one Kleff originally released. If you have a personal connection with him, or with the subjects of other articles you've edited, please declare the connection per the instructions at WP:Conflict of interest. (This is mandatory if the connection is professional.) Thanks. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:37, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The photo was published together with other materials for press and media years ago. Regards. Meow2021 (talk) 14:11, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying. In that case, however, the author and source information on the image description page on Commons will need to be corrected. Evidence of permission via email will also be needed (see Commons:Commons:OTRS for instructions), as press materials are generally not released under a free licence allowed on Wikimedia Commons. --Paul_012 (talk) 15:24, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Statement: The last few weeks have been a welcome to Wikipedia. I've learned what it's all about - emotion, greed and control. No help and support other than a few professional editors. I think some of the editors shouldn't even have authority to manage or control articles. Let me put it this way: You may have won a battle, but not the war. Something that will never change, facts. I don't think The Riviera Group or Mr. Mario Kleff need Wikipedia to be successful. They don't hide behind the screens, they generate business and shape the future, you do not.

Information icon Hello, I'm Vexations. I noticed that you made a comment on the page [:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mario_Kleff_(2nd_nomination)&type=revision&diff=1038200223&oldid=1038166134&diffmode=source] that didn't seem very civil, so it may have been removed. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Vexations (talk) 11:16, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Vexations I agree with you = WP discussions should be civilized and reasonable. There seems to be a misunderstanding. It is not in my nature to be abusive or uncivilized as it is myself who tried to be rational on the discussion page in order to join the conversation for the best outcome. The only part I could imagine you talk about is:
  • Delete This is promotional. I reviewed all the sources ever used in the article. There is some very minimal coverage in independent, reliable sources, but mostly, it's over-the top promotion. International star architect... I don't think so. They have better coverage than this:.....(list of links posted)...
  • Comment: @Vexations Your feedback on this matter appears emotional and misleading. Some links were not included in the "Mario Kleff" article others mentioned as "dead links", which is a dismal judgment. To refer to a heading without further reference to its content is like judging a book by its cover. You have made a personal comment, it is a non-neutral editorial style.

If this hurts you, please accept my sincere apologies. Regards Meow2021 (talk) 13:30, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Dismal judgement"? Dead link is the common term for URLs that point to a resource that is not or no longer available and generate a HTTP 404 error. There is nothing emotional in my use of the term. "judging a book by its cover" is a blatantly false. I went through all the references and read them in their entirety. "You have made a personal comment". No I didn't. I said I didn't think that "International star architect" was correct. If that wasn't clear enough, it means that Kleff does not come close to the real "star architects", such as the people listed in Starchitect, for whom there is no shortage of coverage in independent, reliable sources. And no, it is NOT a "non-neutral editorial style" to go through all the sources and see if they actually support the claims made in an article, and if those sources are generally considered reliable by the Wikipedia community, based on their use in other articles. I don't need or want an apology, I want a retraction of false claims you made. Vexations (talk) 22:12, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Vexations You are presenting yourself emotionally and in a demanding manner. If you are not satisfied with my feedback and offer, I cannot help you. Regards,Meow2021 (talk) 02:14, 12 August 2021 (UTC) Note: I am not the author of the references used in this article, I am the author of the article.[reply]
  • I disagree, Meow2021, they not being emotional or demanding. Vexations has been very patient and their request for you to retract the false claims is completely understandable. MrsSnoozyTurtle 08:34, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Editing of other people's AfD comments[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --- Possibly 21:37, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Possibly for explaining how to behave on a discussion page. However, I have not deleted or edited any comments from other participants, only responded to the proposed information in chronological order. I will be more careful. Regards, Meow2021 (talk) 02:14, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We don't do what you did, which was to render Vexations' comment unreadable. So yes, you certainly did edit their comments. In general, you respond after the other person's signature. Breaking into their text to add your own comment within their post has the effect of destroying whatever meaning they were conveying, and is considered disruptive and is unacceptable.
On another point, would benefit from dropping the combative attitude. Experienced editors like myself do not leave comments like this unless there is a problem. To be a better editor you have to learn the norms here. Thanks. --- Possibly 02:26, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You also wrongly-used Template:Talk quote inline when interjecting rebuttal comments (the action of adding rebuttal comments was referred to as "refactoring"); the guidance for using this talk quote template ( {{tq}} ) states: "... is used on talk pages ... to highlight a short excerpt of quoted material of other editors' comments or from an article or source.". It is not intended to be used to highlight your own original words. I realise you would not know this. An example would be: ...the latter account has the same name as the stated wife of MK (wife was educated to University level in England, IIRC, from recently-past research).. Those are my words, quoted here from another page. I have made the text clickable to target the original diff (when it was added to the original page-sequence).--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 11:15, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
