Are you Chip Beall?

Whoever you are, it would probably be better if you pointed issues out on the article's talk page rather than editing the article yourself. We do try to keep the conflict of interest editing to a minimum. BTW, I competed in one of the first tournaments at DBC. We got butchered in the lightning round. I still get annoyed whenever anybody asks me about volcanos . . . -- But|seriously|folks  03:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not Chip Beall. I'm not even a big fan of his. But I was involved with the NAC in the early 1990s, and found a great deal of information in this page that violated the NPOV criterion of Wikipedia. If you don't like Chip, fine - but you shouldn't be writing about him on Wiki! I have requested that the Wiki editors look into the factual and POV issues in this article.

You said you were a "member of the National Academic Association" on the talk page for National Academic Championship. Are there any members of the NAA besides Chip Beall? Randy Blackamoor 03:52, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of National Academic Championship[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article National Academic Championship, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Request to cease editing quizbowl-related articles[edit]

I request that you acknowledge your WP:COI and cease editing all articles related to high school quizbowl. Bullofconfusion (talk) 12:40, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have not been involved in quiz bowl for nearly a decade. I have no financial interest in any quiz bowl companies. I don't write questions, host tournaments or coach teams. None of my family members participates in quiz bowl. Can you say the same?

  • You quiz bowl people are cracking me up!! You guys/gals obviously know the subject well, and like any niche sport, its often people involved with it that are the BEST wiki contributors to it. I am happy to help police any bias. --Milowent (talk) 12:19, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the help. Not sure you understand the WP:COI minefield though. I also wonder if the article should not be split into two parts: high school and college. Mensa1960 (talk) 05:44, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your edits to the Quizbowl page. That article needs improvement, and you have helped by removing some potentially biased statements. I hope you continue to improve this article and Wikipedia. Reywas92Talk 22:11, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
